I was approved through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and have completed everything they've asked me to do up to my surgical consultation this Wednesday. My work decided to switch to United Health Care on January 1st. I'm reading on hear that the prerequesites for UHC are MUCH more strict than Anthem. I'm afraid I may have to start over. Has anyone else had to switch mid process? I'm hoping I get grandfathered in or something. I'm 32 and my BMI is almost 39. I have no co morbidities. Any information is appreciated.

I've had one fill, and go for my second on August 10th (3 month check up). I'm really getting disappointed in myself. So many ppl post losing weight almost daily, then here I am staring at the same number every day. Has anyone else plataued this early?

This is just a woohoo for me post I had my first fill yesterday and I'm so excited! I was worried about not losing much weight post op because I had NO restriction with the band empty. I can already feel a difference and it's wonderful!! Go Me!! LOL

I started the liver reduction diet on January 5, 2011 and was banded on May 17. LONG pre op diet lol. But I survived it -
Posting Reality Check

Well said! I'm only a month post op, and I've not really lost yet since surgery. I know I have to wait to heal, and my band is empty. I CAN say that I have learned SO much since I started my journey. Even if I fail the band (fingers crossed against that one), I think I've been given enough education to make changes for the better! I plan to use the band to my fullest and hope for thin roads ahead!! -
I was banded May 17th and my incisions are still ITCHY! 4 of the 5 are still red around them, while they other wise look great. No signs of infection. How much longer will I have to be so darn ITCHY???
-
How many incisions do you have?
rowekins replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
13?? Holy cow! I have 5. One about 3 inches (port), and 4 about an inch long. -
Losing more than 100lbs Unlikely??

Good point from Kristi: I met 3 gastric bypass people who had gained back and were getting banded. You learn so much at the seminars. -
Losing more than 100lbs Unlikely??
rowekins replied to Justin B.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I myself was banded 2 weeks ago, and my doctor never thought twice about me having to lose 100+lbs. A friend of mine was banded last April, and she hit 100 lbs today! What I've found is that those who negate the band are simply uninformed. Good luck with your decision! -
I think my best week one advice is to find a good heating pad (for the pain from the gas they inflate you with). Everything else you are in control of.

can you believe she actually said this out loud!!
rowekins replied to jennifer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard similar things, though not that harsh. I also hear from a lot of "normal" sized people that they should get banded to lose 20 or so pounds. I've found that not everyone is happy with my impending success:( Don't worry about what your friend says. It's all about you! Good luck! -
Today is my one week band-aversary:)

Good Luck! I was banded in the morning and went home the same day! Keep us posted.

I was banded Tuesday, and go back to work tomorrow. I liked being home lol. In general I'm feeling really good. Just a little aggravated when I cook for my family and then walk away so I can have crystal light. But, it's temporary and for the greater good.
-
Good luck, Jennifer! I was banded Tuesday, and other than tired and some gas pain, going great. Keep us posted!

I was banded on Tuesday the 17th. I'm SO tired. The gas keeps moving around and keeping me up at night. I'm going back and forth from full to starving, no happy medium. I know it's only been a few days, but I just wanted to know how normal this is.

How long will I feel this way?
rowekins replied to rowekins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I guess I'm a bit of a worrier. Glad to hear I can be insane and still heal;) -
I'm with you, PackersFan! I'd LOVE to have thigh high leather boots! Unfortunately, every time I thought about getting some, I would convince myself how stupid I would look. Not for much longer!!

Congratulations! I was banded Tuesday. This is actually my first post op post glad you're feeling ok. I wish the gas pain would go away! -
Congrats! I was banded yesterday, and I'm on the same boat as you. Gas discomfort stinks lol. Enjoy your new life!
-
OMG! It's finally here! I have an hour and a half to check in. Wish me luck!!
-
Well, I did it! I'm out if recovery and pretty tired. Only pain is from the gas they pumped in. Boy, does that suck though. Thank you for the well wishes and see you in the post op forum!
