My band is scheduled for 9am tomorrow! It's been the shortest ling journey I've ever had. Now I'm panicking a little. I've read this morning that some surgeons stop surgery if the liver isn't small enough?? Anyone had this issue?

I think we all have some kind of pre op diet mishap. I've been on a liver reduction diet since January 5, and will be banded Tuesday (omg). By no means did I follow it to a T. From what others have told me, doctors know we're human and therefore not perfect. Don't beat yourself up if you stray. Just get yourself back on track and remind yourself how much better it will be after surgery. Good luck!

It really does go SO quickly. My PCP visit was in August, and I'm being banded Tuesday!! I think if I hadn't had to go through so many hoops, I wouldn't have been so well informed and eventually would have chickened out. Good luck!!

I will be banded next Tuesday morning (17th). I started the liver reduction diet on January 5th and lost almost 30 lbs. I've now gained 5 back because I'm panicking about never eating what I want again and binging . I know I shouldn't but I can't stop. I've begun second guessing my decision. Any one else have this problem?? -

There's a very good possibility that I may be on my period the day of surgery. Only 10 days left. Does anyone know if this is a reason for surgeons to reschedule?

I'm down to 3 weeks till I'm banded! It seems like I've been in this process forever, but as soon as I got my approval it flew by! ^5 to all of us!

A friend of mine was banded last April (one year today) and LOVED Dr. Selzer. My surgery is scheduled for May 17th. I'll report for anyone interested!

In my opinion, you have the best mind set for success! If you set a number of any type and have it in your mind that is the only way to succeed, you may be sorely disappointed in yourself. Even if you are doing great feeling better! Good luck!!

Most insurances at a BMI of 40 will approve. At 35 they require comoridities, but not at 40. I have United Healthcare and was approved with no comorbidities with BMI of 48. There is no harm in asking insurance questions. You may be surprised what they say. Good luck and keep us posted! -
I found this morning I will be banded on May 17th!! I'm terribly excited! It also happens to be the day before my oldest's 13th birthday , Going to be a big week for the family!!

I've been on the liver reduction diet since January 5. I started doing very well, and was losing weight. Now that I've been approved and waiting for a surgery date, I'm losing all control. I'm eating things I know I'm not supposed to and slipping into old habits. I feel like crap:(

Thanks guys! My diet is no carb, no fruit, no fun. Basically lean meat and carbless veggies. It's gotten very boring. -
Woohoo! I got my call today! I'm so excited! Don't have a surgery date yet, but I know it's going to happen now and I can't wait to start my new life!!

Thank you, everyone! I didn't tell a lot of people that I was getting banded. I wanted to make sure I would be approved first. Now I'm finding that so many people are rooting for me! I have great friend and family support, and I think this will be a great tool for me to start a whole new life. BTW- good luck tomorrow, Mark!
