So Excited! I found a Protein Drink I love!
mominoc replied to MrsHumphreys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, agree, muscle milk is good and like Premier both @ Costco. I dropped 15 pre surgery with these two. Still have one for dinner sometimes. -
I get very cold now and have only lost 30 pounds. I have sweat my whole life even having a phobia about it and now I get so cold. I sleep with a robe on. It is much, much better than being so hot. I'm excited about losing more weight and know it will all balance out. Yay!

Eat a lot of protein before a sweet to offset cravings. For me, protein helps me not want a sweet. Protein is my friend now.

My Drs said caffeine can cause ulcers due to the caffeine sitting in the port too long. It can be dangerous similar to why they say no AdviL. I quit my wonderful espressos/cappucinos before surgery and haven't had any since. I drink green tea now. I really don't miss the buzz.

I had dry heaves after my surgery Feb 7th. I had to stay overnight in the hospital until late the next day. It wasn't fun. It did go away and they said mine was from anesthesia. I was so grateful to be in the hosp because they gave me broth, protein jello and juice. It helped me a lot having my first meals in the hosp. The nausea is miserable and it takes awhile to get any appetite.

Multiple Port Flips?
mominoc replied to MichelleMiner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does 'flipped' mean? Thanks -
Does anyone find they have less appetite after banding? I am almost 5 weeks post op and seem to not care much about food. I often don't feel like eating. I don't want food that I used to crave. I'm not sure if this just happens or what. Food just isn't fun anymore and eating seems to be something I don't care much about right now. I make sure I get enough protein, so maybe that is satisfying me? Its just weird for me because before banding I couldn't stop eating, of course.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
mominoc replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Haven't had a fill yet. Realized until I do I have to make good choices with food. Liquids were so easy. Solid food can be challenging right now. I'm about 4 + weeks post op, so still new. I do feel restriction, but if I also wasn't making good food choices I wouldn't be losing wt. I didn't want to not keep losing weight, so acting as if until first fill. Having the band does make a difference for me. I can feel it, touch it and I'm trying to respect it. It does work and I am so glad I got banded. I couldn't stop eating before. Now I can. I feel like I have a little friend in my band. -
I am 3 weeks post op on 2/21/2011, Monday. I have itchy bumps on my torso. After surgery hives? They still itch. Anyone else?

I am a freaking starving maniac!
mominoc replied to eko's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear everyone about fills. I've not had one yet. Surgery 2/7, so only 3 weeks out. I have lived on liquids and mushy mostly. I get scared to eat anything like bread. I'm sure eventually I will figure it out. I feel somewhat restricted right now as I burp a lot and can feel my port area either from surgery still or from being full. I have no idea. I figured out that I do have to make good small choices to keep losing weight. Lost 15 pre op and 15 post op. I ordered off the kids menu one night and it was so small. Little fish and fresh fruit. Tiniest fish I had ever seen. -
Able to eat more than I thought
mominoc replied to Mom4boys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed the same thing and I'm not quite 3 weeks post op. Have to keep up the protein. I still do shakes sometimes too. I figure there is more I don't know about yet, so sticking to the stages. I'm losing weight and I guess in time I will understand fills, etc. I know its a tool. I'm sure fills do make a difference. -
This Monday I will be 3 weeks post op. I thought I was feeling full a few days ago, now I don't feel full much. I'm thinking I have prob healed pretty well and not as swollen, so food is more able to go thru now? I'm trying to eat the 2 week out foods still, but I do feel like nothing would not go down now. I read where someone wanted a salad before their first fill. I guess before any fills you're kind of still the same? I've been losing weight, so despite will follow the lists. I am still figuring it all out.

sharp pain @ big incision first time today
mominoc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
7 days post op. This afternoon I sat down and felt this major pain @ the biggest incision area. I stopped, breathed and it went away. Now tonight I felt it again, froze, breathed and decided to put my binder back on. I'm thinking I'm overdoing things (have to drive this soon. & take care of my kids) or maybe I ate too much or too fast @ lunch? First day on pureed foods. So maybe I overate. But, tonight I'm having my kids help me more even tho only 5 and six. Anybody else have a big pain @ biggest inciison? Maybe its just the incision itself? Kind of scares me. -
Going to a Italian Resturant tonight...
mominoc replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ally, we had same surgery date it sounds like Feb 7th? I started mushy foods yesterday too. I loved my scrambled egg! Amazing how good very simple things can taste after liquids for so long. I did liquids pre op two weeks too. Getting used to eating slowly, drinking separately. Its all new. Am losing weight, so happy about that. Gail in Orange County. -
I forgot two times so far and drank too much, but then remembered and spit it out. Its hard to eat slowly, but its what I signed up for. Food, eating isn't. Fun anymore, but that's what I wanted. I sure couldn't stop on my own. My friend who is thin and my age eats slowly and not very much. She says to stay thin now she just can't eat more. So, the band has made me like her which is healthier. Band is a tool I have to work well with if I want to have a quality life which I do. Only 8 days post op and learning. Thanks.

sharp pain @ big incision first time today
mominoc replied to mominoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your reply. If ports twist so much is that forever? Kinda scary. I'm taking it really easy from now on. Nothing is worth messing up my surgery! I've already lost a lot of weight, 15 pre op and about 11 post op. I really want to be successful. My kids need me heathy! -
sharp pain @ big incision first time today
mominoc replied to mominoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, thanks for your reply. Gosh, maybe I have done something. Right now I feel okay. Binder on. If the sharp pain happens again I'm seeing my surgeon. I've been busy, but have tried to not pick up heavy items, etc. Yesterday I may have tho, as it was Valentines @ kids school with more things to carry in. I have my kids wear their backpacks, but I don't know I may be doing too much. I only had help for 3 days after surgery then left on my own. its been rough with two lil kids. Hope I'm fine, but. Will see dr if pain happens again. Thanks. -
sharp pain @ big incision first time today
mominoc replied to mominoc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PS: the more I think about the pain, I think its just that pain from my incision. I haven't been able to take any pain medication due to having to drive my kids. I just took some pain medicine since we are in for the evening. Binder back on. Hopefully I can sleep and be okay. My surgery was just a week ago. Biggest incision has always been the most painful. If pain comes back, I will go see Dr. Thanks. -
do you have to see the dr b4 changing food stages?
mominoc replied to punk.sauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear others banded about same time as me. I hadn't thot I could have Tuna, so that was cool to read. Pureed meat......yum. I got hungry some today and think the idea of continuing a shake with the mushy foods is great for that. Shakes really work. -
almost passed out and got sick
mominoc replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep my stitches clean with cool showers. So far okay, but they itch terribly! Called surgeons office and said no creams on them and to try to get through it. I pat them which helps a little. The biggest incision is the one that still hurts and itchs the most. It is where they put the band in. Otherwise I'm doing well. I can't tell yet if its pain or that I'm full, but that incision always feels like a dull pain. If I feel anything I stop eating drinking my stage 1 foods. Its adjustment, but I think I'm doing great. I really feel I'm going to be successful with my new band. Thanks. Gail -
Being Banded this Monday - Feb 7th
mominoc replied to HungryMel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mu surgery is this morning! 9:30 pacific time. I'm waiting in admitting now. Everything you say I could repeat. I worry about the end all. Loose skin, boobs, etc. The same as you. Letting go of a lot of foods, mourning my old friend food, I guess. My lap band life will be different and its okay. Its all good. I know with copliance I will do well. I'm excited that this tool, band, will help me so much more keep the weight off. That's always the hard part for me. I feel excited a little scared, but so ready. Its all going to be okay. I know I've made the right decision. I lost 10 pds with pre-op and feel healthier going in. Just so thirsty! love this support, so thank you for listening. Gail -
