  2. Hello- I was banded on 1/3/11 and at first, i was totally into it and lost about 40 pounds to date. I was so excited and eating right and working out. This month was bad! I didn't lose a single pound, but at the same time, i didn't do anything to lose a pound either. B.w the stress of work this month (being a quarter close), trying to find a new house, and figuring out how to pay for it and clean up my old place, my plate was full of stress. i ate what i wanted, as much as i wanted, and maybe went to the gym twice. I feel horrible now. Not physically, but mentally. i feel like i gave up. this 2k surgery was suppose to helpfully not let me get like this... you know when your on a diet and at first your cranking and doing great, and then something clicks and you feel like its to hard and would just be easier and more enjoyable to eat what you want and do what you want... well i feel that way... i have my 4th fill tomorrow and am hoping i can talk to my nurtitionist and she might have some sugestions to get back on track. im dreading going actually b.c i dont have to have GAINed weight, but i wouldn't be suprised if i did. i feel like i am letting them down. has anyone else felt this way and if so... what did you do to get back on track? I am thnking about going back on my preop diet for 2 weeks but the food i can eat on that is so minimal and im scared im going to feel like shit and then it will be even worse... any words of wisdom, or motivation would be much appreciated... lynne
  3. congrats on your fill! i had my first one on the 3rd of this month and honestly i feel even hungrier lol.... i only got 1.5 cc's tho. i have another fill in two weeks so hoping that helps! i can eat anything really! it sucks! i wish i was one of those people who couldn't eat certain things (ie bread and Pasta and stuff)... is this anything you can't eat?
  4. Hello All- I had my lapband done on jan 3rd and i am having my first fill february 2nd (happenes to be my birthday :-( )... oh well. The last week since i have been on solids, i feel like i am eating more than i should. my doctor told me to eat until i am not hungry anymore but i dont know if i am going over board with it. After my first fill, will i have more restriction?

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

I was banded on january 3rd so i am at my three weeks on Monday. I have lost 35 pounds since i started the preop diet. down from 290 5 weeks ago and now im 255!!! i lost a lot in the begininng but its definetly slowing down. I also feel that i can eat more now as well which isn't good for the weight loss. I get my first fill on my birthday of course... feb 2 so i am hoping that the fill helps! i dont want to eat a lot! haha! my doc told me that if i am hungry, then eat... but dont snack! snacking is the hard part for me! really want to go to a support group on monday and hopefully i can get my motivation back to eat well. i haven't been excercising as much as i should either. i have a gym memborship but i am dreading going there for the first time in months! i know once i go once, it wont be so bad, but i just hate all the skinny and in shape people. i feel huge and stupid!

    So disappointed in myself

I feel you completely. This process in not easy. And after years of overeating, a simple surgery is not going to fix it over night. I would say don't go on a liquid diet but rather eat better foods. I have found myself failing when i set crazy goals. try to find something to do to replace your urges when you get them to eat the wrong foods. instead of eating the piece of pizza, go for a drive or something. get away from the food. and keep minimal food in your frige. the less food you have, the less tempation is it to over eat

    Lap Band Access Port

i think your ok. I haven't heard of anyone having compications with the location of the port. i can feel a little bump where mine is and thats it. I would say your ok unless the port totally moves sides or something
  8. i am almost 2 week post op and still have gas pains everynow and then. i am mostly getting it in my shoulders tho. Honestly, nothing really helped me get ride of the gas besides for trying to push it out hhaaha. what did help was laying on the floor on my back and rotating onto my side crossing my legs over eachother. try just moving around on the floor and it really does help relieve the gas. Also if you have a yoga ball (the big balls you sit on to do crunches and stuff) helped to. if you kneel on your knees and sit you butt back into your fit and have the ball in front of you and just kinda lay your chest on the ball while sitting for about 30 minutes, really helped constrict my stomach to a small area pushing the gas out... just hang in there! it should get better every day and all the gas should be gone around 2-3 weeks. They have to pump your stomach full of a lot of air to lift the skin from your organs to they can operate.

Ah I have the saggy butt:(

This will sound weird, but if you have pants that you can get over your butt and just can't button, there is this thing at target or anywhere that has maternity clothes called the belly band. its for pregnant women that can't button their pants. its a strip of elastic cloth that goes over your pants where the button are and gives you a layered look. so no one can see if you can't button your pants. here is a link for the target kind to give you an idea. i use them a lot! http://www.target.com/BeBand-Maternity-Band-Ebony/dp/B001DDRYCU/ref=br_1_2?ie=UTF8&id=BeBand%20Maternity%20Band%20Ebony&node=1271975011&searchSize=30&searchView=grid5&searchPage=1&sr=1-2&qid=1294890996&rh=&searchBinNameList=target_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchRank=salesrank&frombrowse=1
  10. I was banded 4 days ago and did something stupid last night. I had just gone shopping for some sugar free sweets (like SF fugecycles, Light cool whip, SF pudding)... I have a sweet tooth and am on liquid right now so i needed something.... Of course having those sweets in the house made me want to overeat especially since i was alone (hubby is out of town). so i wont lie but i ate like hald the cool whip container in about 2 hrs and 2 fugepops and a pudding... not all at once but throughout two hours... dumb i know! i feel like shit because of it too. well it was too late for me to go walk so i went to bed and woke up with gas. thought that would help but it didn't. i have also had horrrible diarrea since getting the band... sounds like i am peeing but im not! grooss again i know but nothing i can do about it. i haven't had a solid BM since i got the band... so i went on a mile and a half way in the afternoon today, and i still feel like i have a pressure right under my boobs. i am getting some left shoulder pain as well. hurts sometimes to take deep breaths too. I dont feel like i need to puke and i really dont want to. can someone let me know if i sound stuck... can you get stuck on cool whip? i thot you couldn't but i might have been wrong. Help please!
  11. i've been pretty good about drinking a lot of water. honestly i dont think i have burped once since i had the surgery. i feel like i want to burp but when i try nothing comes up. i feel almost completly normal today... weird
  12. I got banded on Monday the 3rd as well. Today i am feeling better. late last night and all day today i have been passing gas... haha. not a lot of burping but from the other end lol. Its getting better tho
  13. Dr. Mueller did my surgery on the 3rd on January. I am 3 days out and starting to feel better. He is a very nice doctor and really down to earth. I was a little disappointed that he didn't go and talk to my husband after surgery or talk to me after surgery, but other than that, it was a good experience.

    Smoking

i smoked about a pack a day since i was in 9th grade. I am now 23. I stopped smoking the day after my second class at the begining of the whole process. Honestly, the thing that helped me most was having my husband stop smoking with me. he smoked more than i did and for even longer and having his support REALLY helped. We did use this electronic cigarette called the "e cigarette" which you can get a any 7-11. The have cartridges that dont have nicotine in then and also flavored hookah ones as well which dont contain nicotine either. This really helped me on the nights when i would drink heavily or was out with other smokers.... not smoking while driving was the hard one for me, but after about a month of not smoking, you can smell how nasty it smells on other people that do smoke. its amazing how you dont smell it on yourself while you smoking and when you quit, it just smells so gross!!! I do however still smoke pot. I have a medical persciption for it since it is legal in California. The hard part is getting the muchies, but i just keep thinking.... I DONT WANT TO THROW UP! and i've noticed that the drug does what is suppose to do... help calm my anxioty and help me sleep and well as help my pain. Just remember... whatever you want to do... do it for yourself and think about how much better life could be without it. Hope you the best of luck with quiting
  15. wow only 1 incission? i have 5!!! i've noticed the pain going away... walking really does help with the gas... i even tried riding a bike and honestly, that really helped! I want a buritto so bad tho haha
