Hi, all!
I'm from Jacksonville, FL. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, and I have a host of weight-related problems : high blood pressure, high cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome, GERD, uterine fibroids. I started having knee and hip pain last year. Finally I decided that enough is enough. I'm turning 40 this year. I'm graduating from law school in December this year. I just got married a year and a half ago. I have too much to live for to keep on killing myself with food. That's why I decided to get banded.
Dr. Cywes did my surgery on December 30, 2010. It included a hiatal hernia repair. So far, my recovery has gone very well, although this past weekend, I had what Dr. C thinks is a "stuck" episode. I think I'm in the middle of a IBS flare too, but we'll see. Otherwise, the experience has been as easy as surgery can be. I went home the day of my surgery. My husband had me shopping at Wal-Mart the next day. :-) I haven't been nauseous. I was off my pain meds after three days.
Next step is my first fill on Jan. 28. I'm a little nervous about that.
I'm looking forward to learning from and communicating with folks in these forums. It's true....it's easier together!
