  1. Yahhhhhhhhh! I stepped on the scale yesterday. I am down 12 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!! I have never been able to loose more than 1 pound in 2 weeks. It really works if you follow what they say. I can't wait to go to the gym. I know the weight loss will slow down as I have lost a large amount of weight in the past.

    Banded 1/12/11 WEEEEE!!!!!

Hi, How are you feeling? I got banded on 01/06/11. Stepped on scale yesterday dropped 12 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. That has never happened to me in my entire life. Just stick to the program that they recommend until your MD ups your diet. Sometimes, you have to add some type of flavor , so it does not get boring and you feel like your not going to loose it. But, this is what this site if for; help and sugggestions. Keep the blog going with updates, so we can all keep remembering that it does work. Cheryl from MA.
  3. Well, I have had enough of staying in. It is 8 days today. One of my incisions really hurt, but they look good. I think I am going to step on scale in a little while. I will go to the support meeting if you want to go. Call me 774-266-0106. Thanks, Cheryl
  4. Hi, Well, I am 6 days post op. Finally starting to feel good. Wow, the gas in the shoulder the first night was awfully painful, but resovled by morning. Had to have a hiatal hernia repair adding to more pain in the incisional site. Have been off pain meds for 2 days now. Incisions feel better every day. Glad it is over and looking forward to the future.

    Butchered Belly Button

I am post op day 5. My physician did not go through my belly button. I have 4 sites around it though. Through one of the sites, I had a hiatal hernia repair. That does not sound right. Did you call your surgeon? You need an explanation of some type to understand what and why.
  6. Hello, I just got banded on January 6, 2011. I had my surgery along with 4 other women In MA on that day. Is anyone on the blog yet? Wondering how you are all doing. For me, I slept all day yesterday, as my body needed the rest from surgery and my previous work load. The soreness is starting to subside in areas; however, I had to have a hernia repair and I can feel that today. I am glad they fixed that at the same time. It was bothersome for a few years. Well, I certainly don't feel like running a marathon, but I am glad that it is over. I am also glad that I took time off from work. You really need to. I was one of the lucky ones that did not get nauseas, athough in the past I always had. My problem the first night was with pain in my left shoulder from the gas. I sat up, walked around and used an ice bag and that helped tremendously. I can still feel gas today, but it is nothing compared to the first night. I am learning how to slow life down from having had the surgery; another benefit for me. I hope everyone is doing well. Cheryl

    Float Through Your Fears

Hi Kelsey, How long did it take for your incision pain to go away. I am going into day 5. I tried to go out yesterday, but lasted 20 minutes and was in severe pain during the night. I am in my late 40's so I am sure that has something to do with it.
  8. Explain this to you physician. He will be better able to tell you what to do and could give a presciption for anti-nausea medicine. Cheryl
  9. Do you want to chat for a little while? Call me at 508-285-2388.

  10. Thanks for the info. What gym do you go to? I belong to Gold's and Mansfiel Holiday Inn, but I need a budy to get me going. I was a gym rat for a long time, but when I had half my thyroid out, it slooooowed me way down. I have two boys, one is 21 and the other will be 18 in 10 days. Wow, that is cool you have triplets plus one. I am a twin. I am going to Wednesday nights group. Are you going? If so, do you want to ride together?
  11. What is Adam's email address? I am transitioning over to him. Arthur is retiring in March.
  12. Hi, I live on Smith Street across from Roche Bros. What was it like when you woke up from surgery? I am just afraid that I will be in alot of pain like my other surgeries and it took a while to settle down. Did you get really nauseas? Cheryl
  13. You are too funny. If he gives you some, make sure you give him my name so I can be next. Right about this time, even Lidocaine sounds good to drink. Three more days. I am just concerned about waking up in pain like I always do. I will just let the anesthesiologist know to give me Lidocaine in my IV instead of my mouth ....LOL.....

  15. Joni, I forgot to ask you if you were attending the support group this Wednesday? It is the first session and occurs twice a month. First hour is instructions, support recipes etc. and the last 1/2 hour is exercise ? Yoga. Cheryl
  16. HI Sue, How is your weight loss goiing? Are you from my area of Norton?
  17. LOL..... Fudgesicles have become my best friend. They satisfy the palate.
  18. This is getting weirder. I also just finished up with "I can change" with Sara.

  19. Hi Jo, My surgery is also Thursday. I am scheduled for 3:30PM. Wished it was in the morning. Maybe we will end up roommates. I am a nurse are you? Good luck to you too.
  20. I have a question, did Dr. Adam Glasgow just perform the surgery or was Arthur there as well? Arthur just informed me that he is retiring in March and Adam would be doing my surgery. I did not find Arthur gentle at all.

    Band-curious

Hi Auburn, I have yo-yo'd for most of my life. About 4 years ago, I started working out and followed a strict high Protein low carb diet and lost 32 pounds. Well, after having half my thyroid removed, I quickly gained 60 pounds. I was horrified. At almost 48 years old, I have high blood pressure and sleep apnea. My back hurts at times and my knees are preventing me from doing the rigourous exercises at the gym. When I lost the weight, I looked better in my 40s than in my 30s. I had great self esteem and dressed really cool. Since gaining the weight, I do not wear the same types of clothes and will not look in the mirror much. I know my self esteem is low. It should not be, because the accomplishments in my life are many and I am very educated. It is because of the way that I look and my health. My surgery is in 4 days. My insurance company made me wait 6 months, but it allowed me time to really get prepared for this. Per the insurance company, I had to talk to their health coach on a monthly baisis, {which was a total waste of time} and a detourant from having surgery. I have gone through all the testing and was seeing the physician's nutritionist every month, which really helped prepare me. I will have the band in 4 days. Yes, I am nervous, but ready at the same time. I will keep posting so everyone who is thinking about it, can accompany me on this journey. Thanks for listening, I needed to get it out there. Cheryl

I live in Norton near the Comcast Center. I guess we are aways apart. Sometimes I do get to that area because I cover all of MA. Will let you know when I am close to you, maybe meet for lunch. Need the support as I am nervous, but know that when it is done I will be happy and would like to help others.
