My pre op appointment was yesterday and everything went great. I still can't believe that I am going to finally be done with the port and the band. No more nights scared to eat dinner to have to stay up til 3 am waiting for my food to digest or waking up because I threw up in my sleep. Those long nights are over. So now I am preparing for my 3 day liquid diet to shrink my liver. The big day is April 30th and I have recieved nothing but support from my closest friends and family. I am just ready to live again. I want to wear a swim suit (to embarassed to wear one), go skating or wear a sexy dress with heel to dinner with my hubby. I have been living in a shell for 4 years dealing with the issues I was having with my band. Now the time has finally arrived and there is NO TURNING BACK NOW! It took me 2 years to finally decide that this was the right road for me. I was embarassed about gaining some of the weight back and for even thinking about a revision. I didn't want to hear people saying I did the the surgery once and why would I do it again. But it's not about what people will say or what they think. It's not about them. It's about ME! The new healthier me that wants to live a long healthier life and have the wedding I never got to have with the man of my dreams, my biggest supporter, my best friend...My husband. Here's to the beginning of a new journey to the NEW ME!

Un-fill Lapband before Sleeve Surgery?
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to RAAinNH's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was unfilled before my surgery which is April 30th. I gained 28lbs and I enjoyed everthing I wasn't able to have. Now I am ready for the new me. Counting down the days to a new healthier life and no more fills! -
Hi Staci! I had the band in Dec 2003 and lost almost 100 lbs. I went from 368 to 268. BUT I was throwing up constantly. Didn't realize it until I went back to get my fill that I was too tight. I just thought it was one of the side effects. After the removal of some of the saline I was able to eat. Of course I gained weight but I was able to eat. Slowly I began to pack on the pounds. So knowing this is just a tool I tried Weight Watchers ( 3 times) to help get back on track. I could not get over the 20 lbs hump and I couldn't eat all the points because I was restricted. I couldn't eat fresh fruit or raw veggie. I even tried diet pills. I finally started researching the sleeve about a year ago because I knew I needed help. I finally decided to contact my doctor (Dr. Stephen Hamn, Presbyterian of Plano, AWESOME DR!) for a revision consultation. The first appointment I canceled, chicken out. When I started throwing up in my sleep for no reason I knew I needed help. Long story short I kept the 2nd appointment, he told me I was a good candidate and he recommended that the sleeve would be great for me. I received my approval on April 1st, surgery is April 30th and I am EXCITED! This site has been the most rewarding for me as well as youtube. You are in the right place! Also a close friend has the revision surgery and she is doing awesome. When she had her band she was still on her high blood pressure meds, since being sleeved in Feb 2013 & 30+ lbs lighter she is off her meds! She inspired me as well as all of the others. I know for sure I am making the right choice for ME! My hubby too was a little concerned but we talked it over first before I made any drastic decisions and now I have his support. Good Luck with your surgery and I look forward to you post. Remember to keep in contact and let us know how you are doing!

ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to mmlucas77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey April Sleevers (My new family)! I am having revision surgery from the lap band to the sleeve. Yesterday I went to have my lab work done in preparation for my surgery on the 30th of April. When I got on the scale my heart almost dropped when the scale read 313. I had maintained 285 for nearly 4 years since my last fill. Then I had a reality check, all of the solution had been removed from my band almost 2 months ago. With that being said I got to enjoy what I had not been able to enjoy for the last 4 years. It had been so long since I heard my stomach growl that when it growled I ate. I ate until I was full. Now that I have had my fill of all the good things I missed I am mentally prepared to start this new journey of my life. I want to thank each and everyone of you for your post. This site has been so helpful and Iook forward everyday to the new post. The days are coming pretty fast and I must say I am excited. I promise to keep you guys posted on my success, please continue to make post and provide all of the great advice. Good luck to all future sleevers and those who have already been sleeved. FYI..Any suggestions of any specific kinds of protein I need to get in preparation for after surgery? Talk to you soon! -

May have been asked, but need answers...my surgery is next Thursday
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to Letty1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad you asked that question because I just about to post the exact same question. I have my surgery on the 30th of April and I am trying to prepare myself. I am pretty sure someone will respond and I will be looking for those exact same answers. Good Luck! Keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same. -
Hello! My name is Sondra and I will be having my vertical sleeve surgery in 3 weeks. I am having a revison from the lap band to the sleeve. I had battled with having a revision surgery for about 1 year now. When I finally got the nerve to make the appointment for a consultation I called and canceled. I felt like a failure because I gained the weight back from the first surgery. But after praying and talking it over with my husband I made a second appointment and kept it. What really helped was the support from my husband and a very dear friend who had the surgery as well. We both struggled with our weight all of lives and thought the band was what we needed. While we both continued to struggle with our weight while having the band, my friend was never able to get off her high blood pressure meds. I was just blessed to not have any medical problems that required meds. Long story short after my friend had her surgery and said it was the best thing ever, she is officially 3 months pre op, down 41 lbs and off her high blood pressure meds. I was inspired yet motivated to make the lifestyle change. I received the call on April 1st (Yes April Fools Day) that my surgery was approved and that they could schedule the surgery for April 30th. Take note when they called I was taking a nap so I thought it was a joke. I had a ton of questions like do I have to go thru the classes or psych evaluations. To my surprise no, just get my lab work done, see the dr for post op and then have my surgery. I am still shocked because I hear of so many people waiting for thier approvals. I guess you get what you pray for. I am still new to this sight and learning how to maneuver thru everything but I want to post my pictures and interact with others who have the same issures that I may have but until then..COUNT DOWN TO A NEW ME!

Worries about my surgery and life changes that need to be made.
Dallas Curvy Girl commented on lyndeeboo's blog entry in My story
I am so happy to read your post today. Even though my surgery is less than 3 weeks away I am still thinking about how my life is going to change when it comes to eating. I too am a lover of food. I love the taste of it, I love to cook, I love to see people eating. But I have learned to love food in a healthier way. Even though I know that I will not be able to eat as much does seem to have me questioning myself. When I think about the shortness of breathe walking from the parking garage or the skinny jeans I once could wear are not too tight. I will do whatever it takes to live a healthier life. It is indeed a lifestyle change. You can do it! WE can do it! The best thing you ever could have done was write how you are feeling and know that you are not in this alone. I wish you much success in the wonderful journey that you are about to embark on. When times get rough write it down and wait for you friends to reply and help you through those tough times. -
