Constantly weighing yourself
Dallas Curvy Girl commented on kulita's blog entry in Kulita's gathered information & help
My hubby removed the scale when I went in to have surgery. He told me that is the least of my worries but to focus on me and following my doctors orders. I have not desired to look at the scale yet. I was thinking maybe at my 1 month mark and then I go and see the Dr at my 3 month mark. That sounds like a good time span to me. -
Unjury and Syntrax Nectar Desserts
Dallas Curvy Girl commented on kulita's blog entry in Kulita's gathered information & help
My Dr gave me some samples of Unjury Chicken soup and the unflavored. I am looking forward to trying them since I am going back to work on Monday. I know that it is so important to get the protein in but I was almost out of my mind drinking chocolate whey protein. Hopefully this will help add some variety. -

Dallas Curvy Girl commented on kulita's blog entry in Kulita's gathered information & help

Nicely put. I have to be in total agreement. Even though I am almost 3 weeks out since my surgery I am very mindful of what I eat. I find myself already thinking ahead of the healthy dishes I can't wait to make for myself as well as my family. I have always loved to cook but this just makes it more exciting. I am looking so forward to the new healthier me and the new recipes that I will be sharing. The Best is yet to come and not only will I be benefiting from eating healthy my family will be as well.

1st day back at work
Dallas Curvy Girl commented on makemyownluck's blog entry in I'll make my own luck
I go back to work on Monday and that is just 1 day shy of reaching the 3 week surgery mark. I sit down too and I am hoping that I will not be bored out of my mind. It takes at least a day for disability to give the ok for my company to allow me back into the system. So majority of my day will be reading 3 weeks worth of emails. What fun! But I can't complain about my job because I enjoy what I do but I do desire to do more. When I get my access back I do plan to restart my career search back into management. It's sad to say but being overweight you are discriminated against when it comes to promotions and jobs. They look at overweight individuals as being lazy unable to keep etc. Which we know isn't true. But it's just how overweight individuals are stero typed. But we have made the decisions to rise above all obstacles that we have encountered. If I am ever put in the position to hire anyone there size will never be a factor but their qualifications for the job. I will make sure to post how my first day back on Monday went as well as when I receive my PROMOTION!!!! -
Week 3 Post Op- Difficult for me
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to ramos252006's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so sorry you are having a difficult time. To my knowledge I have heard of things still being swollen. I know it is easier said than done when you hear that it take time and to be patient. I know you don't want to hear that but it's true. I truly believe you made the right decison. I felt the exact same way when I was in the hospital. I was in so much pain and discomfort. All I kept thinking was, What did I do to myself? But this is my 2nd week and the 3rd week is fastly approaching. I start back to work on Monday. Am I ready? Yes! I was so bored at home. I was forgetting to eat and I was having a difficult time getting the protein in. Well I still am. I have to keep searching to find one I can deal with where I don't get bored. But with that being said don't give in to the minor complications. You will be past this very soon. I will keep you in my prayers and please keep me updated on your progress. -

11 Year Old Lapband...has anyone else had one this long and been revised?
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to Sleevestriss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my band for nearly 10 years and in the beginning it worked but about the 4th year things began to change. Not only did I have to have some of the saline removed but I still continuing to throw up. So in between the throwing up and weight gain I was miserable. But I still kept trying to lose the weight. It has been a struggle but the best decision I could have ever made for myself was having the revision to the sleeve. I too had a lot of scar tissue from the band but my surgery was a success. The progress is slowly moving towards the positive and I am so happy. For those considering a revision to the sleeve don't be scared. This is the best option and I wish you nothing but success. -

Force protein or just get liquid in?
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to Mrs.Ally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it just comes with time. I am slowly getting my protein in. I have to switch it up though. Once day I will drink Pure Protein (25g) in Frosty chocolate with water & then the next day I will have Nectar flavored protein. I just get bored easily so I have to switch it up but I can only get in about about maybe 30 grams a day. But I am slowly increasing daily. -

Best Flavor Nectar for Water
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to girlrfriday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far I have had the wild cherry flavor and it was ok, reminded me of jello water. I didn't really care for the fuzzy navel but I will still drink it. Currently I am sipping on the lemonade and it seemd to be ok as well. I think i like them because they aren't sweet. I bought the variety pack from BJ Bariatrics. -
My before and after!

AMAZING! Thanks for sharing your pics! -
I know it's realy early for me to be thinking about exercise but I am. I know prior to surgery I use to love to go to Zumba class. I stopped over a year ago due to the hectic work and school schedule. But I have decided to put me first and do something I really enjoyed which was Zumba. I wanted to know if anyones goes or considering going as a part of the fitness regimine. I am not one to go to a gym or pay high fees because that would just be a waste of money for me. Zumba is something I will attend. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Help 3 weeks post!
Dallas Curvy Girl replied to naturally_bad77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest making you oatmeal really liquidy so it can down easily. I am on soft foods as well and all I eat is really watered down soup and mashed potatoes. I can't really have solid foods until June 10th, it has something to do with the healing of my stomach. But try making your food as soft and watery as possible, that should help. It's working for me. -
Sorry you are in pain. Hang in there it does get better. Follow the advice of everyone and that is to walk and take your pain meds. It has been a week since my surgery and I don't really have any pain just a lack of energy. But walking seems to be the cure to everything. So walk as much as you can and take your pain meds. I promise it will get better.

i just started walking today so at least I am on a roll to doing something. My son is going to start walking with me every evening at the walking trail behind our home. I didn't get to time myself but I think it took us maybe 20 mins to walk the trail. Not bad for my first day.

Thanks for telling me about 24 hour fitness. I live close to Mesquite and I know they a 24 hr fitness. I might need to check and see what they have to offer. Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for all of the great advice. Today was my first day being able to walk around the walking trail in the back of my home. My son walked with me to make sure I would be ok. I must admit that I got a little winded and I was tired by the time I reached the house but I felt good. So my son has agreed to walk with me every evening to help get my strength back up. I am going to take it slow and do what I can until I can make it to my first Zumba class. I go see my doctor next week and I will ask him when he thinks I will be able to start Zumba. I am really excited about starting.
