Welcome to the thread. I will say one thing about that 80-90 lb loss thing. I think its very plausible ! I have lost almost 70 lbs since 4/27 and am just about to hit my two moth band anniversary on the 9th. I will say I walk by but off though I do between 2.5 - 5 miles a day. I get pissed at myself if I miss my walk. Its crazy ! lol

WoooHooooo Congrats !! :clap2:

Would you give them a chance again?

If I wasn't happy and with someone. All I can say is USE AND ABUSE !!!! Paybacks are a #$%^# -
LMAO I had a High School flashback just now. :biggrin1: I guess thats how I gained all the weight in the first place :eyebrows: :hungry: Munchieeeees !
-
I used to confront her about it, but I realized she is just being insecure and as time passes she is being more and more supportive of me.
-
Yes yes yes ! lol My GF who is now pretty supportive of me loves to throw zingers once in awhile. I get the comments on how she misses us going out to the ice cream store and how she misses us going out to the store to get junk food for movie nights. Mind you she is as thin as a rail and can eat junk food and not gain an ounce :cry but me on the other hand will gain weight quickly.

IMO exercise, exercise, exercise and even more exercise. Plus watch what kinds of food you eat and generally you will lose. That imo is why most don't lose. Then there are those that will tell they do all that and still don't lose but I think they are kidding themselves.

My Doc asked me to skip on the fill for the same reason and I said hell no ! I am busting my hump and think the little extra help is nice. I am actually going for another fill in less than 2 weeks.

1 in 200 or 1in 2000 who die from the surgery. I chose the 1 in 2000 because I like the odds better. My Dr was even pro. bypass for me. But I got what I wanted to get because I felt it was safer and more effective in the long run. Now he is in shock how fast I am loosing the weight. I also like proving the doubters wrong. Bypass people have a greater chance of gaining it back as where if a lap band person is gaining all they need to do is get a fill. Then there is all the crazy malnutrition problems with bypass that we don't have. I am not going to say that Bypass is all wrong because it may be right for some and a more effective surgery for some , but it was just not right for me.

1/2 cup of egg whites 60 cals. Some green pepper chopped and a slice of fake cheese which is only 25 cals. Sometimes I add 2 or 3 slices of turkey bacon. If I don't have that its a yogurt.

Will Banding Preclude Joining the Military?
Chris_NJ replied to Lochnagar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have also looked into this and the information I have found is that is you have gastric bypass its a definite no. Now the information I have found is that with the band is that you have to get it removed and wait a year to join. Now don't quote me on this because I am not positive. I have asked in the GOArmy.com chat with the recruiters and they all just spew out some policy that only pertains to bypass. I would think with the war going on they are giving lots of waivers these days. If you do find out please get back with me because that has always been a dream of mine also. I guess thats why I am going to Iraq as a contractor when I get down to 250 as a firefighter. -
Please I need advice, Hubby disapointed me

Its not just the men who use weight as a safety net. My GF is only a 110 lbs and she is very insecure about me loosing the weight for the same reasons. We are definitely a funny looking couple size wise. I keep telling her not to worry we have been together over 3 years and she has been with me through THICK and soon THIN ! :biggrin1: -

I think it was almost wrong what you did to your husband also. You asked him to lie. This is his father you asked him to lie to. Sorry you feel bad but put yourself in his shoes also. I never understand why people are afraid to tell people. I could care less. The truth is I am fat and need to lose it. I saw this as a safe option to help me. If someone doesn't care for my decision I tell them to go pound salt lol. Simple enough I think. Maybe you should give your FIL the benefit of the doubt. He obviously is concerned or he would not be asking about your health. I think people forget that not everyone is as educated on WLS as people who need it and they just assume they know. You should open up and educate him. -
Sounds to me like your parents just have a lack of knowledge when it comes to lap band. Mine were the same way. They think they knew but just didn't. The only thing is they have been pretty supportive of me. Try and educate them a bit more on the subject if you can. But honestly its your decision and not theres.

Way to go man ! Good luck with the surgery and hope all go's well for you. I know how you feel about being in the 200's, its been over 6 years for me and when i look at the scale and see how close I am getting it gets me even more motivated to do it ! Congrats on your 40 mile goal also ! I don't keep track of my mileage and probably should do so. I am doing between 2 - 3 miles a day unless mother nature screws me with rain. So I am sure I am right up there with yah bro ! Any way jump back in after surgery and keep us updated !
-
Quick question does anyone else keep a chart like this ? If not what do you use. I do mine in Excel.
