I just have to ask why? I think you may have another problem that needs to be addressed before you even decide about surgery. If you can't control your drinking then how do you expect to control eating? The band is a tool that can be manipulated very easily. I used to be a heavy drinker and smoker. I was definitely pissed drunk a few days a week. I made the decision almost 3 years ago to stop both and eventualy made the decision to loose the weight. I think you need to fix the one before the other. Otherwise you are doomed to fail.

3 sips every 15 minutes ! WOW. I am no Dr. but the darker the urine usually means you need more fluids. Can you drink more Water? If You can I would. I myself have never had a problem with water drinking. I have never heard of 3 sips in 15 minutes. You would never get enough water in a day that way. ( This is just my opinion)

I got a great idea !! At 5'7 and 255 your bmi would be just over 40 ! Just slouch down a slight bit when doing your height and go to the Dr's in the afternoon because you are actually about a 1/4 inch or so shorter by the end of the day. Be shore to have a large meal and drink a lot of water before you go to the DR office. Remember those 16oz bottles of water is a pound on the scale.

I usually wait around an hour. Its usually longer because I don't think about it. I think the whole idea of waiting longer also has to do with self control. If you wait longer the odds are you will feel full longer. If you can control your urges to eat then drink sooner. (This is just my opinion so take it as that)

I told everyone and there mother ! I figured everyone knowing would push me harder to not let this fail. It isn't so my guess it worked.

don't have to. Half my family lives there and my father used to. they seem to like our system better. biggest complaint they have is having to wait months for surgery's. I am not stating our system is perfect in no way but works pretty good imo. I am unemployed at the moment due to a lay off and I pay 335$ a month for my insurance and will say it is worth every penny for the quality of care I get. I never had to wait for anything.

According to my GF its all on how you use it .. *Pulls his mind out of the gutter* _________________________________________________________________ I believe the only difference is the size of the band and how much fill it can take. The larger the band the longer it may to get a tighter restriction. It seems Docs are using the larger bands more often these days.
