  1. I'm taking what my doctor has recommended,,not my choice.lol
  2. I feel like since I've had surgery just a week ago, I'm bombarding the forum with all these questions that I should know..sorry. I'm wondering if anyone could answer for me..today I've had 2 oz coffee, 2 oz protein shake, 2 oz of strained veggie soup and about 12 oz various fluids spread out through the day. I feel full to the top of my throat, I feel like I have something in my throat. My upper stomach is distended (and still so sore..have doc appt tomorrow). I'm also gurgling like a choking fish. I'm afraid to fix my afternoon snack or any dinner..I also haven't used the bathroom much at all today. Is all of this normal?

    What Does This Mean?

It's the first bit of coffee I've had since surgery a week ago...it's half/half. I didn't really like the taste and really set off my reflux so it's an easy sacrifice. I've gotten alot more fluids in through the rest of the day. I know how important they are.

    The Stomach Gurgles......

    Mrs. Newme...that cracked me up!lol
  5. Probably a dumb question but when we are able to eat solids, should I focus on fixing all my food healthier or eat whatever I want but in small amounts? If there is a secret, I'd like to know. My fear is that I won't be able to prepare my food to taste good..I'm an all flavor person. I hate bland food.

    The Stomach Gurgles......

Thanks for posting this, I was wondering why I'm doing this. I can't really use it as a sign of anything because I'm gurgling all the time throughout the day. It feels like the kind of gurgling you get when you are so hungry and your stomach is empty..that knawing feeling. I'm trying to tell myself it's just adjusting rather than my being hungry.
  7. I got 6,,seemed like alot to me? Maybe not?
  8. Thanks everyone, my husband found the literature that had all the info I needed on it. It was along with my discharge papers.
  9. I'm a week out and starting full liquids tomorrow. My problem is, I don't know how much I should have..how much is enough? I feel full all the time due to the swelling. I have no regimine I'm following because I just don't know how to do this. I have a pill box with 20 pills I have to take each day and I can hardly get those down, then I have to drink all the water. Where can I get my protein in? I thought this was going to be easy for me but it's not! My manual gives examples of idea shakes I could use but doesn't tell me how much I should be taking in and how often. I'm so afraid I'm going to over do it and not even know it.
  10. I have several pills that I can't mix with others, like my thyroid med..vit d will deplete it so I have to take some in the morning and I take all my supplements at night,,whew.it's a chore but I do what I have to do. Yes, I hope with time I can get off of alot of these pills. Thanks for the fb,,I guess I'm doing everything right.
  11. 6 regular medications (some I have to take twice a day) b12 d3 calcium Iron vit c Probiotics Biotin multi b1 vit k I'm just sick of them all.
  12. I'll be heading off to the hospital in about 4 hours..I'm so excited. Thank you, everyone for all of your past words of encouragement and hope. VST means alot to me and has helped me get through the year process I've had to take. Today is a significant day for me..a rebirth in a sense. I've struggled my whole life with my weight and sick and tired of being sick and tired so I'm pumped about starting this new life. I'll try to check in when I can...here I go....woo hoo!
  13. I'm 6 days out and kinda expecting to move around pretty well and not suffer as much pain. However, I have a softball size area to the right of my belly button that hurts every which way I move. It's a stinging..like burning and stabbing pain. It has never eased up and it takes my breath away sometimes. I was just wondering if this is normal?
  14. I was just wondering why my doc had to make 6 incisions. I was on morphine when he came to see me before I was discharged so I don't remember anything and my husband didn't know what to ask. I'm calling tomorrow to make my follow up appt so hopefully I'll get answers to my questions then. I'm not concerned about the scars. I've had 3 kids a c section, hysterectomy, abdominal tumor removed, exploratory and gallbladder removed so my stomach already looks like a road map.lol

    Three Showers?

I had to shower with an antibacterial soap everyday for a week. The night before I had to shower with half bottle of hibiclens and the other half the morning of surgery.
  17. longer-life..things went well. I went in the 27th and got out yesterday afternoon. I had some major swallowing issues and still dealing with that but otherwise, pretty good. I did run a fever for a while afterwards but it finally broke. I'm having more pain than I thought that I would, my doctor came to see me during morphine appetizer so I remember nothing about his follow up with me after my surgery. I'll have questions at my 1 week follow up. I'm just walking and sipping,,slowly. It wasn't the most pleasant hospital stay,,they took me out of my room and put me in a room to share with a girl who would not stop complaining..then she and her husband got into a fight and I had to request to be moved back to a private room,,which they did right away.
  18. Thanks everyone for the well wishes!
  19. I made it through surgery ok..have been resting a bit. Walking as much as I can. I've been in since Tuesday and kept longer due to swallowing issues. Hopefully that will resolve itself. I knew what to expect going into it so it's not so bad. Thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts and prayers, it really means alot!

    Lissa 12 8 11

You look so happy! You can really see the difference in your face..and I'm sure even more now. Looking forward to seeing more of your photos, Lissa!
  21. Hi medic..I am also having my surgery tomorrow. I've had several surgeries before and I'm pretty confident the medical staff will keep us as comfortable as possible. They don't want anyone suffering. I'm a little nervous but more out of fear of the unknown than the surgery itself. I'll be praying for all of us tonight

    Can Not Stop Eating

I've made it through the day..it was the toughest by far. I cooked a feast and several desserts but passed up every bit of it. I'm really proud of myself.
