My family has always centered every event around food. My bday is day after tomorrow so the family is getting together tonight at my fav mexican restaurant. Yesterday my sister was having heart tests and so I had to eat lunch at McDs (where the rest of the sister's picked). My husband had to work on Valentine's day so he wanted to take me out this past weekend,,so another night out to eat. This keeps happening ever since I had surgery or I'm just more aware of it now. I can handle the fact that I will be going out to a restaurant but it's hard to know what and how to eat..plus have control over it. I'm still uncomfortable asking someone to share their meal or ask for a kids menu. If I order for myself, it's so tempting to dig in. Any suggestions?

I Have To Eat Out..again
peacequeen replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was actually my 28 year old nephew's idea to eat at McD's.. who is a ky state trooper who doesn't really need to watch his weight.lol It was his mom who was having the tests so was hard to say anything to him..he was worried, tired and hungry. My sister's had those big salads (probably thinking it was the healthy way to go but it's not) It'll just take me a while to learn how to eat outside of home. I think I can have about anything,,just learn what is good for me and make healthy choices and don't overstuff my sleeve. I'll have to check out those wings... I wouldn't have thought those would be something I could have. -
I Have To Eat Out..again

Well, not too bad. My husband had the fajita's and I shared with him. I only had enough for a single small one. Ate 6 chips with salsa and had a tall glass of ice water. I still feel stuffed after eating only a little..but I did eat the tortilla so I may just be bloated. Then they blew this big horn,,threw a sombrero on me and embarrassed the pee out of me with a really loud happy birthday and a dude that CANNOT play the guitar.LOL Oh,,and they brought me a dessert (a weakness) I had a baby bite and gave the rest to the table to eat. I really had a blast and felt spoiled by all the attention. -

Thank you, Joiebean! Yes, you've been very helpful. I'll try the dinner you suggested,,sounds perfect. I don't have to worry about the margarita,,I don't drink My husband is super supportive, he always offers to share his food but he and I have totally different tastes and I don't like what he gets and I don't want to ask him to get something he may not like..it's just complicated!lol I did really well at Mcd's yesterday, I had the side salad with low fat dressing and a piece of grilled chicken (to order),,they didn't mind. It was very filling and tasty. I'm just winging it, hoping what I am having is good for me. It was so strange watching my nephew down a huge burger and my sisters salads were 3x the size of my tiny salad and they finished it off. Eating is so different now. -

Thanks, Julie. I guess it scares me because when I eat out, I don't always know what I'm eating,,even if I think it's good for me. Some restaurants provide nutritional info but not all of them..I know this mexican restaurant won't. I'm also stuck at a stall so that bugs me too. -

Lissa, I hope this isn't a dumb question but could you give me some examples of dense proteins? I eat alot of chicken but want to broaden my menu. I also LOVE bacon, do you think that is a good source of protein or too fatty? I wouldn't mind turkey bacon. -

I didn't direct this to any of those who were giving good, sound advice and such. I was directing it at the statement: "My first thought is why would you write this here? So your cheating and trying to reverse everything that you have accomplished so far? I think you need to see a counselor. I mean, what do you want anyone from this forum to say to you, that you haven't already heard or know. There is nothing to say other than you need to see a professional about your problem." There's no denying that she was making bad choices and needs help (which appears she is getting as she stated in a later post) I just felt the above statement was harsh,,we can agree to disagree,,I respect the the poster but not the part of the message where he is asking her why she would post here and what does she want anyone to say to her...even if she already knows the answers,,she deserves the right to post as well as the rest of us. It appeared to me she was looking for answers not just a sounding board that she was cheating.

So she deserves no positive support at all then, is that what you're saying?

“God won’t put more on you than you can bear” Keep Him close by your side and all will be fine. I find when I forget to include Him for whatever reason,,I could almost hear Him saying,,,Karen...stay close to my robe,,don't drift off on your own...you need ME. And then I do, and then all is well. God speed Jas,,let us know how things are going after the stent. -
I'm really glad you posted here. I know you cheated and were making bad choices but if you hadn't posted, you wouldn't have rec'd all the replies of support and knowledge. You knew that you were harming yourself and you need to seek help. Even if you knew all of that already, you deserve to be heard and get support just the same as "the perfect sleever". I wish you the very best and so happy to hear you had a good day!

maybe just a little support..maybe????? gosh that's harsh!

I'll be praying for you tonight and tomorrow...for you to have a successful procedure and very quick healing (((((Hugs))))) -
I have a confession..The past couple days I've been so bad,,had cheese cake and some other things not good for me. And I'm making myself too full..why am I still letting head hunger and bad habits get the best of me? I haven't had any weight loss in the past few days and can only blame myself. I know if I was doing what I was supposed to be doing the weight would be coming off quicker. I'm feeling like I'm in a rut..maybe getting a little depressed. Any motivating words would really help.
