Body Part Slowest To Loose The Inches
peacequeen replied to gwynne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I forgot to mention,,I have stomach issues too but I think only surgery would help it at this point. Not alot of fat but alot of excess skin,,it just won't shrink and I hate it! -
That's awesome,,especially no pain! That's a heck of an nsv for sure!!

I've had similar issues. I have to get a grip and start somewhere so I'm going to find as much healthy snacks/foods to keep in my house and doing a clean out of all the bad stuff. That's a first step because out of sight, out of mind. I'm going to have a heart to heart with my family about supporting me. I've got a seperate post where I have gotten advice and I'm passing this on to you. We are our own responsibility so we have to just put our foot down. If you find you are snacking mostly at night, have some special treats that are healthy waiting on you when you get home so you know you are going to treat yourself to something..if you know what it is you are more likely to pay attention to what you are putting in your mouth rather than junk it up for the night. For instance if you are having ice cream, have some low fat yogurt instead...jerky for chips,,you get the idea. Night eating is a killer and I've struggled with it my whole life. You have to start somewhere, if you are going to eat at night,,make it healthy. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Body Part Slowest To Loose The Inches
peacequeen replied to gwynne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My thighs and arms are the most difficult to lose. No matter what excercise I do, it hasn't seemed to help my arms. My thighs don't look great but are obviously shrinking because my clothes are fitting looser in that area even though it's a struggle to lose in that area. I hate my arms, it's so difficult to find, let alone wear something cute. I'd have surgery when I get to goal if they haven't gotten better. -
I'm a little apprehensive about saying this here but I'm feeling like a failure. I'm stuck at the same weight for some time now and I haven't lost nearly as much as most that are out as long as I am..almost 5 months. I'm finding that some of my old habits are coming back and my family keeps bringing bad food in the house. I keep saying how hard it is for me to have it around and throw some of it out so they might get the hint but it's just not working. I'm excercising like I should but that's about it. I'm eating all wrong. I'm really struggling and want to do better but finding it more difficult everyday. I keep swinging these 4 pounds around but can't seem to drop past 241. I went to such drastic measures to make a change and now I feel so weak and like I'm failing. Does anyone else feel this way? I've read so many positive posts here and they are great but it would be helpful to find someone who could relate. So many here seem to be doing so well, it seems so easy for them (not that it is,,I know they are working hard,,,I just mean they are doing so well and I'm not) I feel very depressed and disappointed in myself.

Feeling Like A Failure
peacequeen replied to peacequeen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll try to answer everyone,,thanks for all the feedback, concerns and motivation. Yes, I had a leak and it held me back about a month so I guess I am more like 4 months out. As for what I eat, I eat most whatever I like but carbs do a number on me,,like bread mostly so I try to avoid it but it's hard sometimes. And I need to step back up and say something nice about my husband,,he's so wonderful and supportive in almost every other way but he thinks he is doing me a favor by stopping by the store on his way home from work and pick up a "few" things..but it is mostly unhealthy food like sweetened cereal (which I had a LOVE for preop), crackers, chips, nuts (the salty yummy kind), sometimes he'll pick up things for me but it's like protein bars that he doesn't know is full of carbs and sugar..the ones he picks out anyway. Most of this stuff is not intentionally meant for me but if it's here,,I'm gonna eat it. Just cause I had surgery doesn't mean it changed my brain and the way I think about food. I'm in therapy, I am trying so hard to stick to everything but find myself with those old habits pulling me back down. I excercise almost everyday, for at least an hour. I do inclined walking, weights on the home gym and floor excercises. I have a hard time with high impact because I have osteo issues and myasthenia gravis. I have a small pool and just got it ready for the summer so I've been swimming as well. Even though I'm eating some things that aren't good for me,,I'm only eating them in small amounts so I'm not sure why I can't shed weight faster. I'm obviously doing some things wrong and will need to make a change. I really appreciate everyone's support here, it is helping me so much. -

Met With The Surgeon Today!
peacequeen replied to lizzybeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Strange that she would advise you against the sleeve if she's never had a patient with the same condition as you. I would ask a GI what they think? Just a suggestion. I'm surprised she isn't sending you to one when they had a finding with your results. I would do all the research I could before making a decision. -
Met With The Surgeon Today!

I have gerd and an autoimmune disease that effects swallowing. I'm almost 5 months out and my reflux was pretty bad at the start but it has gotten better. I've been taking nexium for several years now and zantac since surgery. I take them twice a day. Per my surgeon,,getting ready to cut back on the zantac, don't need it anymore. So for me, it has gotten better. -
Hair Loss Solution
peacequeen replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I almost forgot, she said to massage the scalp, it keeps circulation going and that's about the only thing that will remedy the problem. She also said to use professional products if possible. Good products can help with the texture and can keep the actual hair healthier instead of raspy and dry. In other words, keep the hair you do have as healthy as possible. -
Hair Loss Solution

My sister does hair and she said to keep it down as much as possible is the best. Pulling it up puts stress at the root. I'm losing my hair and she cut about 4 inches off, it's helped alot so I think longer, heavier hair will probably have a tendency to fall out easier. I also take 1200mg of biotin. I think this thing just needs to run its course. -
Feeling Like A Failure

I don't want anyone thinking that I think no one else has struggles. I know that you do. I'm just feeling bad for myself,,a pity party I guess. I'm frustrated because I've been stuck around the same weight for a while now, I'm getting afraid that the weight I lost is all I'm going to get from such drastic measures,,I still have over 100 pounds to lose. Thanks for your support, it really makes me feel better. -
I'm not a big drinker but I've had a glass of red wine tonight and all my incisions, including where I had plasmapheresis, are purple. Has this ever happened to anyone before,,this is new to me.
-
Lisa,I had plasmapheresis because I have an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis. It's where they replace my plasma with synthetic plasma so it cleans all the bad antibodies out. I had this done last July, the scars are purplish red all around as well as my gallbladder, vsg incisions and csection/hysterectomy incision..it's weird and scary.

Ok.. Soooooo......(Vent To Follow... You've Been Warned!) Lol
peacequeen replied to favoredone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know one thing I do that causes some of my stalls is when I over think things. Keep it simple and try not to think alot about food, calories, weight, size, measurements, intake, inches,,and on and on..this will sabotage you girl. I'm struggling like you, we were sleeved close to the same time and have lost close to the same weight. You wanna ban together and work on our problems together? Private msg me and I'd be glad to listen. By the way,,I can't EVEN believe your doctor reacted that way,,how insensitive!!!! -
Oh No! Mcdonalds For Lunch?
peacequeen replied to vampsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I try to be careful and eat as healthy as I can but I also don't deprive myself. That's how I got fat in the first place by constantly crash dieting..avoiding anything that was "unhealthy" and tasted "good... eventually I would go back to my old habits and eat triple the bad stuff because I'd miss it sooo much. I had and probably still have emotional eating issues but I was a volume eater. Since eating a 1/4 or less of what I used to,,I can eat what I like and still lose weight. I've eaten at alot of restaurants and either share my meal or save left overs. I've lost slowly but steady. I'm also excercising regularly and that makes a big difference. Don't beat yourself up over a chicken wrap. I've had them several times,,even with the tortilla. Sleevetta doesn't like carbs that much,,makes the stuck feeling and sometimes I can't keep them down. Meat does very well in my tummy so it's become easy for me to not eat as many carbs..but if I want something like a cupcake,,I'll have a few bites with no guilt. -
Sorry you are ill but glad to know you are getting the care that you need. I hope your job works out too,,thoughts and prayers going out to you.
-
Forgot to log my weight yesterday..from 242.4 to 242.2..not much of a drop there but better than a gain I always say. I keep going through these stalls then I'll have a big drop so maybe this coming week will be better. Good job everyone..and Happy mother's day to all the moms.

Happy birthday! I told my husband, kids, family for any holiday I want gift cards. With my sizes changing so much I just can't afford all the clothes. So for Christmas, Valentine's day, birthday, anniversary..it's racked up. Mother's day is tomorrow and I can't wait.lol I know it's not dinner out but I really enjoy shopping now. Most don't have expiration dates so you can use them whenever you need to. I had saved up 500.00 in cards and have spent half of it and saving the rest for summer clothes,,I've had a blast with them.
