    Vomitting

please dont let fear of vommiting prevent you from getting this lifesaving tool! you will not vomit if you obey the rules..chew slowly..eat under 4oz..ect. you have to listen to your band. when it tells you that you are full you must stop..or you may vomit. I was banded november 17 2010 and have only vomitted once and i had the flu..it had nothing to do with my band!!

I was banded on Nov 17 2010 and i have been a bad bandster and not been doing my Protein drinks for like 3 weeks now..i just got so tired of them.. what do you know my hair started falling out..but my hairstylist told me that I am still growing new hair..she showed me ..so thats good. since I cant do my protein drinks right now i added an extra 8oz glass of milk and have just tried to get more protein in through my food. I guess protein really is important! lol.

    Mushy food madness

ohh goodness! welcome to bandster hell! My first few weeks of phase 3 i really took things easy. I was nervous about new "real" foods. I had chopped up turkey..ham..any type of pureed meat. I had alot of scrambled eggs, cottage cheese..that kind of thing. eventually when I reached bandster hell..i had Pasta...not the best choice but i was soooo hungry and it made me feel more full i guess. baked chicken is a really good choice as well. By 4 weeks post op I could eat any food no problem..i just made myself stay under 4 oz..most of the time!! its all a head game i think. you just need to be in control and not let the food control you. oh..i also found that i didnt have a problem with toasted multi grain bread and its really filling. a good Breakfast my surgeon reccomended is half a slice of toast with one scrambled egg! good luck! it sounds like your doing great so far!

    20 somethings!

you guys are AWESOME! thanks for sharing. Someone asked the question about the doctors being hesitant? The hospital I got refered to told me they wont do it until your at least 21. I was 19 at the time and I knew I couldnt wait two years so I was very persistant and the lady in charge held a special meeting and one surgeon said he would meet with me. I guess I made a good first impression because 11 months later he did my surgery! Most people only have to do 3-6 months of pre-op counseling and all that but mine took forever because of my age!
  8. Our surgery was on the same day!! thats awesome! keep up the good work!!
  9. Hey Novembers! I was banded on November 17! Its great to read all of your stories and see your progress thanks for posting!! I just had my first fill three days ago.. 4cc's! it was weird!!

    My First Pasta Experience

YAY! a fellow Pasta addict! like everyone says it just depends on the person.. I tried some mac and cheese 4 weeks post op..it went down fine it just felt kindof funny.like not stuck but it just didnt feel right ...I just had my first fill, and im afraid to try pasta bc i know it will probably get stuck this time! I wish i could stay away from it all together..i mean it did contribute to me being so overweight but its so good! lol.. a lot of people have trouble with doughy breads.. i can do toast fine but i had two bites of a soft pretzel and had my first (and only) "stuck"experience when I was 5.5 weeks post op so watch out for that too!
  11. WOW! I just noticed your weight loss already! that is awesome!!
  12. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!! i am 7 weeks post op and it is still hard for me to go out to eat! I want to so I can be social but the food all looks so good so I have to control my portions. Not to mention that the waitresses always look at me like im on drugs when I tell them i dont want a drinK! not even a Water. like its sac-religious or something! LOL. Once you get further out post op and can have more food choices a good tip is to ask for a to go box right when they bring your food. That way you can portion out what your going to eat, put the rest in the box and forget about it until your next meal. It really helps me! keep up the good work!

    Coughing & Vomiting?

according to my research and my surgeon coughing should not cause band slippage. As far as band slippage it is very unlikely..you would have to vomit alot..frequently..and band slippage only happens in on average 10% of lap band patients.. Band slippage can be prevented by chewing thouroughly and not overeating. I considered GBS, but lapband was a much better choice for me!
  14. Has anyone noticed a change in their pee? I know it sounds weird. Mine is bright orange! I went to the doc today and told her how it changes colors. sometimes kindof greenish. Does anyone else have this? I think its because of the vitamins or something!
  15. Does anyone else have a hard time distinguishing the two feelings? I am 6 weeks post op and I seem to feel nauseous so frequently but I think i confuse it with hunger!
  16. I was banded 6 weeks ago today. I don't get my fill for another week. I am sick of the same foods over and over again! What are some things you all have? I'm up for suggestions!

    Banded

Thank you! I will answer ANY questions you have! I did have to lose weight before the surgery. Most doctors make you do that to show you can comply with a diet. You dont have a certain amount to lose before surgery, just some to show you can. I lost 30 and gained 10 back. My heaviest was 347 and I weighed 327 when i started the pre-op liquid diet. My pre-surgery time was longer than most peoples. Most people have to do 3-6 months of monthly weight checks, nutritionist visits and counseling. I had to do almost a year because of my age. Good luck with everything!!!
