The nerves are setting in now...

Wow you said it all pretty much! I agree with everything @ finallyincontrol, but to you - justplaintired - I understand what you are feeling. I went through the same feelings and thoughts myself not that long ago. I almost canceled out the night before surgery. But I didn't and I am glad. I already lost 30 lbs. and I am only 2 wks. post op. Everything will work itself out. You will figure it all out as you go along. Trust me. It will all make sense to you eventually. Trial and error. But with the lapband as your tool - you have no choice but to lose the wt. if you obey the rules. There is plenty food choices you can eat and enjoy. Just smaller portions. After a while, you don't seem to notice or mind. I find myself thinking less about food as I did before. The key is to keep busy. And exercise. Keep your mind occupied. Good luck and keep us posted. I will sure be thinking about you on the day of your surgery. Take care.

MY LAPBAND JOURNEY - 2 WK. POST OP

JAN. 31, 2011 - MONDAY - 2 WK. POST OP - WELL I HAD MY DR. APPT. TODAY. I LOST 4 MORE LBS. FOR A TOTAL OF 30. YEH! I WAS ADVANCED TO REG. DIET. I AM TO GO BACK IN 2 WKS. AND THEY WILL XRAY MY BAND TO CHECK POSITION AND FOR A "FILL" IF I WANT ONE. YEH! I AM GLAD TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF JAN. - GEEZ!!!! WHAT A LONG AND COLD MONTH! FEB. WILL BE BETTER. AT LEAST IT IS SHORT. AND VALENTINE'S DAY! (SWEET) LAST WK. WAS LONG AND DEPRESSING FOR ME. GLAD IT IS OVER AS WELL. IT WAS GOOD TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR THE FIRS TIME THIS WK. TODAY. I EVEN WENT TO WALMART TO DO SOME SHOPPING AFTER MY DR. APPT. THAT WAS MY EXERCISE. MY LEG HURT TERRIBLY THOUGH WHEN I GOT HOME FROM MY FIBROMYALGIA. I JUST CAN'T WIN IT SEEMS. BUT IT IS OK NOW. I AM RELAXING. SO FOR MY SUPPER I HAD A SMALL PORK CUTLET WITH MUSHROOMS, SOME GREEN BEANS, A LIL SPOONFUL OF APPLESAUCE, AND A FEW BLUEBERRIES WITH A SPOONFUL OF FAT FREE WHIP CREAM. TASTED HEAVENLY. THE PORK WAS A LIL ROUGH TO GET DOWN THOUGH. A LIL DRY. IT SUCKS THAT YA CAN'T DRINK ANYTHING. I HAD TO WAIT 1/2 HR. TO DRINK. IT SEEMS YOU GET SO THIRSTY AT MEALTIME. DON'T IT FIGURE! WELL IT SEEMS LIKE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE ARE HAVING THEIR SURGERY SOON. LOTS OF COMPANY TO TALK TO. THAT'S GREAT! GOOD LUCK TO ALL HAVING SURGERY AND I WILL BE THINKING OF YOU! KEEP US POSTED. TAKE CARE ALL, AND REMEMBER - "NOTHING TASTES AS GREAT AS SKINNY FEELS!"

    I did it!

    YEH! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
  8. I agree - you have to stick to the pre op liquid protein diet 100%. It will help shrink and defat your liver before surgery thus making it easier to visualize your stomach with their instruments. Less pain and better healing also. It will be worth the effort in the end. Trust me. The worst part of surger is the gas pain afterwards which you will feel in your left shoulder, back, neck , chest, etc. Just walk, walk, and walk. Take pain meds for the pain also. Don't wait till it gets too bad. When able to eat post op. - take tiny drinks or bites and chew chew and chew or you will get terrible spasms. It is just a matter of listening to your band and getting the hang of things. You can do it too! You have all of us to help you through this. Good luck to you and take care. Keep us posted on your progress.

    Stir Crazy!!

I am 2 wks. post op Rachel so I know what you are going through. I have been very depressed this week. I don't know if it is the weather and being stuck inside or not being able to eat much anymore or a combination. But boy oh boy - I hope it passes soon. I go to the docs for my 2 wk post op appt. today so I will see if i lost or gained any more wt. It is stressful knowing you kinda have to answer to someone. and be accountable. Oh well. I will post later on my results. But Rachel please try to hang in there too and get past this difficult time - healing process of the band. Thing have to get better - right?

    Bandsters with Fibromyalgia

Jenna and Blair I want to thank you both for your posts. Excellent info. I just recently cut back from Lyrica 1 tab in am and 1 in pm to now just taking 1 tab in pm. It seems to help me get to sleep - or so my mind believes that. I do notice though that if I have any stress in my life, the fibromyalgia really acts up. I have a hot tub outside on the porch deck but with this kind of weather I don't have the bravery to use it. I only use it in summer. I can't tolerate cold any more. I really need to work on walking and exercising though coz I know it is a big part of losing this wt. I am really slacking in this dept. I blame the weather of course. It is starting to cause me to get very depressed. I was on an anti depressent but I took myself off of it coz I am just soooo sick and tired of taking pills. I couldn't wait to be able to get off of the diabetic ones and the meloxicam for pain I was taken off of because it can erode the band. I also was told not to take advil, motrin, etc. because they contain aspirin as well which can erode the band. So be very careful if you take anything for pain. Check with bariartric doc first. I would love to keep in touch with both of you to compare notes and info as we embark on our lapband journeys. Thank you both so kindly for responding. Take care and have a good day.
  11. Sounds heavenly. Thanks so much for sharing!!! Can't wait to try it out!
  12. Wow - has anyone else get depression after the band surgery? I don't know if it is just this long winter and being shut in or the band that is causing my depression. But I don't like it and I can't shake it either! :(

    Bandsters with Fibromyalgia

Are you on any meds for fibro? I have it too and I take Lyrica. However, my doc just told me he would like to switch me to another med as lyrica causes you to gain wt. Great! After I got used to this med. I have alot of trouble tolerating meds because of my stomach. I was just just banded jan. 17 of this year. I still have alot of pain too and can't exercise or walk much. People just don't understand this illness at all.

having band in feb and i am nervus

Hi there! I was just banded Jan. 17 so I am almost 2 wks. post op. I lost total of 26 lbs. so far. The worst part I think was the 2 wk. pre op liquid Protein diet then the 1 wk. post op Liquid Protein diet honestly. It was worse than the operations. After the operation - the worse part is the gas pains that stay in your shoulders, chest, neck or back. Horrible. Walking alot helps and pain meds of course. You must stick to and follow the advice of your Dr. though especially the diet part. If you try to eat something you shouldn't after the surgery, you can definitely feel it and it is very painful. Like a spasm. You have to be patient and give your body plenty of time to heal. The wt. loss will come later and exercise. And get plenty of rest. Just baby yourself for a while. If you have any questions, please ask. If I can answer them, I will. I am still learning from others myself. This forum is awesome. People are so nice and generous of their time to answer your questions and concerns. Take care and keep us posted.
  16. Made a bowl of oatmeal and added some raisens. I wasn't sure if the raisens would be a problem or not but no problems. Yeh. It was yummy. My only problem is I get so thirsty with my meals and I know you can't drink 1/2 hr before or after so it is torture for me. Lol

    WHY IS NOTHING WORKING!

I agree - you only have to please yourself - no one else! Everyone talks about plateaus. I believe that is what is going on with you. It will pass. Just keep on doing what you have been doing. You lost alot of weight. You should be very proud of yourself. Don't put yourself down. You've come a long way! Hang in there and keep us posted on your progress. Take care.
