  2. Hi there! LOve the puppy pic! So where are you on your journey? I am 5 wks. post op.

  3. Yah the waiting game is no fun. But it will be here before you know it then everything will go so fast for you - ya won't believe it. Good luck on your journey and keep posting.

  4. Good luck to you on your surgery date. I will be thinking about you. Keep us posted. You will do fine. I was banded 1/17. It was easy. The hard part was the pre op liquid diet and then post op shoulder pain from the gas the doc puts in your stomach to view your organs better. He cant get it all out. But take your pain meds as given, and walk walk walk. After a few days you will feel fine.

HI there! Did you get banded yet? I was banded 1/17 of this yr. I lost 30 lbs. so far. I have had only 1 "fill" so far of only 1/2 cc. I really don't have much restriction yet. I can pretty much each what I want and can over eat a little too. NOt good. My wt. loss has come to a screaching halt. I have not been exercising much though coz of the bad weather. I live in Penna. It is snowing again! I go back to the Doc in 1 month. Maybe I will get another fill then. I had a hernia repaired during the lapband surgery. I didn't even know I had it other than the fact that I have had GERD for over 5 years and have been on meds for it. The heartburn was terrible. Sorry to hear you have Barretts. Hopefully the band will help alot with that. It should improve drastically I would think anyway? The lapband surger was not bad at all. Others have said it was more painful if they had a hernia repaired as well. Post op shoulder, neck and chest pain was far worse. From the gas that was left in the stomach during surgery. They take some out but not all. Well keep posting on your progress and take care.

  17. Hi there! Just wanted to say HI and see how you were doing? I am doing ok. Wt. loss seems to be at a standstill now that I am on reg diet. Its still hard. Only had 1 fill at 1/2 cc. Not much restriction. But at least I am not gaining wt on a positive note. :)

    Hello! New here! :)

HI there! Haven't talked to you in a while. Was wondering about your progress. How is it going? Did you get a surgery date yet? I am 5 wks post op. I lost 30 lbs. and had 1 fill of only 1/2 cc. Seems wt loss is at a stand still now that I am on reg foods. Its hard. I sometimes get frustrated. Well at least i am not gaining. How is your Mom doing - I know you mentioned she is 1 yr. post op on her band. How much did she lose? Well you will have to post soon and let us know how you're doing. Take care.
  19. I am post op 1 month also. I got 1/2 cc put in on my first fill last wk. I dont really fill much restriction either unless I overeat, then lookout - I had my first "sliming" episode this am from eating an egg and a piece of bacon. It cam right back up on me. So I don't know? Gonna wait a while and see I guess.
  20. Hi! Good luck to you as you embark on your journey! I am 1 month post op and have lost 30 lbs. so far. The operation itself is very easy. It's the afterpain from the gas the doc puts in your stomach to visualize the organs that hurts so much. It is usually in the left shoulder, but can be in the neck, stomach, chest. The only thing to do is take pain meds before it gets too bad and to walk walk walk. It eases up after about a wk. or two. Also, don't cheat on your pre op liquid diet. The Doc has to make sure you defat and shrink your liver so that the operation goes easier for you. Then after surgery, as you advance from liquids to mushy to soft and then reg diets, just make sure you chew chew and chew. Eat very slow, and take at least 20 min. to eat your meals. Only eat 3/4 cup per meal and wait 4 hrs. between each meal. Do not DRINK anything with your meals. Wait 1/2 hr. before and 1/2 hr after meals to drink. Otherwise the liquid pushed the food through your stomach too fast and you will not stay full. You want to keep the food in your stomach as long as possible. Try to eat mostly Protein then veggies. Example: baked fish, no more than 4 oz. with some brocolli or green bean or other veg. Do not eat hard or dry meats, or white bread, as they get caught in the pouch opening. No Pasta or rice. Go for low cal foods but high in protein. You will know when you eat too fast or too much or something gets stuck, as it will hurt from the throat all the way down to stomach. You kinda just have to wait it out. It is horrible. You might even slime (throw up). Drink only cal. free drinks. Avoid carbonated drinks such as soda and also juices. I also avoid caffeine. Exercise as much as you are able to even if it is just walking. When you feel discouraged, get on this site and read others blogs as they are all so helpful and inspirational. Everyone on here is so willing to help and share with others. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.

    SLIMING - EWE!!!!!

WELL I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOU FELLOW BANDERS WERE TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU MENTIONED "SLIMING". WELL I FOUND OUT THIS AM. I FELT REALLY HUNGRY SO I DECIDED TO HAVE A SCRAMBLE EGG AND A PIECE OF TURKEY BACON. WELL - IT KINDA FELT STUCK AND HURT - THEN THE SALIVA IN THE MOUTH INCREASED AND I KNEW THEN WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. OH MAN! IT ALL CAME BACK UP! WHAT A HORRIBLE FEELING. MY THROAT STILL HURT FOR ABOUT 1 HR. LATER. AND MY STOMACH. SO EITHER THE EGGS AND BACON DIDNT AGREE WITH ME OR I ATE TOO MUCH OR SINCE I GOT MY FIRST FILL OF ONLY 1/2 CC LAST WK. - MAYBE I HAVE MORE RESTRICTION THAN I THOUGHT???? WHO KNOWS. BUT IT WAS NOT PLEASANT. DON'T WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN. NOT WORTH IT! I SURE WISH THAT SCALE WOULD BUDGE. IT IS NOT GOING DOWN EVEN THOUGH I HAVE BEEN DRINKING PROTEIN SHAKES FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH. WTH?????? FRUSTRATED!
