    Post surgery memory loss???

It's scary to think surgery to fix one problem caused another. With my grandma's diagnosis, the doctor said usually a traumatic thing happens to start the rollercoaster. She was in a car accident. I hope this surgery to extend one quality of life doesn't take away from another. Its like the butterfly effect on my body.
  4. Has anyone else noticed they are forgetting more things? I am only 30 yo and I had surgery 2/28/11. I am down about 30lbs but can't get over the plateau. I do have low thyroid activity but not perscribed anything for it. I swear there must be something to this because I have always been known for my ability to recall old information. What do I do, I think it is starting to show at work!!!! PS: my grandma died of alzheimers at 93 so I'm a little concerned.... no a LOT concerned
  5. OK, I was banded 2/28/11 and lost 25lb since starting the liquid diet. (I admit I have cheated). Just got my first fill on 4/26, and it hurt sooooo bad. I am back on track, keeping my food journal and exercising. Now for the question.... I am gong to try to do liquid only at least once a week and was wondering where can I get Protein powder that can mix into hot food. In the hospital, they gave me a little packet to mix in my broth that dissolved completely. The other powders at the store and GNC are for cold liquid only. My Nut didnt even know the name of what the hospital gives. Help.
  6. No... nothing was wierd yesterday. Rregular uneventful Sunday. I dont even have those little gas burps I usually have.
  7. Ok, so last night I went to bed and everything was fine. This morning I can barely swallow my spit. My dietician said I need to eat within 1 hour of waking up to jumpstart your body for losing weight. I tried to swallow some applesauce and was STUCK. The sliming started while I was driving!!! I really was starting to panic but I found a bag and pulled over on the side of the highway. It is 1pm here now about 6 hours later and I can still barely sip Water. What happened to my band overnight? I was banded on 2/28 and dont have a fill appt until 4/28. Is this normal or should I call the office?
  8. Has anyone else had an issue with undissolved stitches? I had single incision placement on 2/28/11 and I wonder how long they are supposed to be here. It looks like everything is closed up. Though he did create the ugliest belly button on earth!!! I have had 2 other surgeries and the stitches did not dissolve, one being a epeseiotome (sp) where they had to go back in and cut them out, yikes. And the other was a gall bladder removal. How long has anybody had them last?

Please tell me it gets better...

I was banded on 2/28 as well. I know everybody doesn't bounce back the same but I do see that everyday gets better, maybe not a lot, but there is a difference. The one thing that I heard from other banders is to put on a girdle, it tucks everything in and I stopped feeling that tearing pain. I went back to work last Wednesday, really sore and still on pain meds. I HAD to work through the pain. I have one of the jobs where you need to be seen even if you do anything. I am not hungry, some I think is due to the meds. My surgeon and dietician said raise your protein level before surgery and it will be easier to get back on your feet. It is probably a good idea to get a good protein shake and start chugging.

    Banding too soon???

Yeah, The doctor said that I was a great candidate because my realy issue is portion control, not really a sweet eater. I have talked to people that have done the surgery at the same hospital and their wait was about 3-6 months. I am having the single incision surgery, beause of my current size. I am not sure if that has anything to do with the rush.
  11. I am having the single incision placemnet and I watched the video a LOT. I need to know what is going to happen to my body!!
  12. I am new to the group but I have a question. Is there such thing as being banded to quickly? I went to my first seminar January 28th and I saw the dr one week later. I have passed the medical clearance and just have 3 appts left, (Psych, Group, and Pre Op) The surgeon's office has already given me a surgery date of February 28th. My weight is 243.8, BMI 40 so i barely qualified for insurance to cover. I can't lose too much weight between now and the surgery, so obviously i am worried about my 8 day liquid diet. Is this happening too fast? Do I need to pump the brakes? Help, Confused with my date with destiny
