Hi all, a few months ago I found that my band has a large ‘leak’ in it. It was filled with 5ml and the next day it was down to 1ml. ive spoke to surgeons assistant who stated a new tube and port will be €1700 however there is no guarantee that this will work. All depends on what the actual issue with my band is and they won’t know that until they perform surgery. has anyone else had a band repair? If so was it a success, any issues post surgery? really need to hear some people’s experiences before I decide to book it. thanks in advance x

Hi all, looking for some advice. so, I was banded in 2011 and have had ups and downs with restriction over the years however, 3 (ish) weeks ago I had pain near my band/port and since then I’ve had zero restriction. I’ve also had nausea and suffered bad with my stomach such as excessive wind. I’ve also noticed that the way my stomach makes noises when I’m hungry feels and sounds different. I had my surgery in Belgium but I live in the UK and the surgeon isn’t in the UK for another 3 weeks so I have to wait to see him. has anyone else had these symptoms? I’m just so worried that my band has erosion or something serious that may need urgent attention but as I have to wait 3 weeks to see the surgeon i am worried sick. I feel like I’m unable to go to my GP as I had my band done privately so if it needed to be removed I would need to pay near £2000, I doubt I would receive any help through NHS but if anyone has can you advise me please. Any my advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Hi all, just thought I’d come back with an update. So I went to see the surgeons assistant last Thursday and he said he didn’t think it was a major issue given my symptoms. He checked the fluid in my band and said I had 7ml, this should mean I have restriction but this isn’t the case. So since I’ve had zero restriction I thought I would get a second opinion and go and see a nurse who does band fills where I live. She measured how much fluid there was and it shown only 3mls was in my band! I couldn’t believe it when she showed me as that would mean that in a matter of 4 days I’ve gone from 7mls to 3mls! How the hell does that happen. She’s put it back up to 7mls but again I just can’t feel much restriction like I normally would with 7mls. anyone else had similar problems? I’m now left with the option to have a band repair for €1700 in Belguim, however they said they won’t know exactly if/where the leak is until they open me up and it could end up being the actual band itself and not the port which would require removal (a considerably higher cost). I’m at a loss and do not know what to do?!

Wasn’t sure if it is a slip as I’ve lost all restriction, I just assumed if it slipped I’d have too much restriction 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thanks @Bastian you’re right, I just feel like I’ll be dismissed as it’s kind of cosmetic surgery but you have a point. If I presented in A&E my worry is they won’t know what to look for unlike an WL surgeon, would an erosion show on a scan? X

Hi @FluffyChix I have zero restriction now all of a sudden so I could literally eat a horse and I’d be able to keep it down 😂 no it’s not excessively painful in fact the pain is just every now and again. I just get this awful gut feeling that something is wrong, was just wondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms xx
