Audree, I agree with you. I am not spending a fortune to not lose weight and become healthy!!! Are you able to exercise normally yet? Does it hurt where the port is? Christine
-
Audree, Where do you get Kellogg's protein water? How does it taste? Thanks, Christine
-
Hi! I checked out the website yesterday and I will let you know what I think when I order it. I see you only have a few days to go. Good Luck and let me know how you feel. Christine :clap2:

Audree, I bought some Atkins drinks today and some Isopure drinks. Has anyone else tried these? I am hoping to find some that taste decent. Thanks, Christine

Hi Audree, I think it is so cute that people are naming their bands. I think my hubby started something!! I have a new saying too - "Be true to your bellly band!" Christine Can't wait for the belly band! 9 days to go....
-
Hello everyone! I can't believe that I only have 9 more days to go when I get up tomorrow!! I have been reading what everyone is saying about protein and Nectar sounds good, any input?? Also, what about the unjury referenced above?? Hope everyone is doing well. Christine

By the way, I have always thought your quote "Bonding by Banding" was hysterical! I feel the same way.

Hey! Nice to hear from you each day. I remember the gas pain from gallbladder surgery and wish I would have know something as simple as Gas-X could have helped. I will have to get the Tylenol PM. Any good tasting protein drinks? Do you notice a difference in your clothes yet?

Hello! I bought Centrum chewables and liquid tylenol from Wal-mart. I heard Wolfgang Pucks is great. Which do you like better? I'm glad you liked the belly band nickname! My hubby thought this was quite cute. :biggrin1: I can't believe that I have only 11 days when I wake up tomorrow! Starting to get nervous, anxious, excited, etc...:omg:

Hi! I am from Ohio and a self pay. I researched and found an affordable Dr. with 20 years plus experience and a center of excellence for bariatric surgery. How much is it in Canada? A paid in full discount where I am going is around 15K which includes fills, etc... for a year.

Hello! I have people tell me I don't look like I qualify for surgery too. My husband came up with a cute name last week for the band. He calls it the belly band!
-
I bought chewable Caltrate for calcium and they are really good. Just purchased chewable Centrum, liquid tylenol, Gas-X, chicken broth, etc.. Getting prepared. What else should I have on hand for my surgery?

Hello everyone! I received great news today, I have a surgery date of January 30th and I am excited, anxious, nervous, etc.... How is everyone doing?? Christine
-
Hi again!! I am so excited, I got my surgery date today. I will officially be a bandster on January 30th!!!!! I am counting the days. How are you feeling? The clothes with the tags will be worn this year! Christine :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Hello! I had my seminar yesterday and they also said that a small portion of your stomach is around the band with stitches to prevent slippage. Nothing is re-routed, cut or stapled like other surgeries. I have also read this on various lap band websites. I get my psych eval, nutritionalist visit, etc.. next week and could be banded by the end of the month! I have lost my weight in the past also and pulled out photos today from 5 or 6 years ago and I can't wait to look and feel healthy again. I have clothes with price tags in the closet just waiting for me to be that magical size once again. I too am nervous and wonder what if I don't lose weight or regret it. I wonder if I have no will power because I know I did it before but I feel the band will help me to eat less and I too have eaten healthy but too much. Sometimes I think I have a bottomless stomach! I have been reading posts for approx. a month now and I am grateful that I have found this forum. It is normal for the stitching around the band and it is not a mixture of 2 surgery types. I hope to hear from all of you after my banding because I know I will need the support when I experience the "head hunger"! Christine

I can tell that we are quite similar. We both have done plenty of research on here and could not wait to get banded. I will know when this Friday. From what I have been reading, you were banded just recently?? How do you feel?
-
Hello to all! I go to my seminar on Friday and I am told that I could have surgery by the end of January since I have already an upper GI etc... I had my gallbladder removed at the end of October and wish I would have done this at the same time! At least I have an idea on what to expect for pain. I am a self pay so I won't be waiting for insurance approval. There is a direct exclusion in the policy. I have been reading posts here for the past 2-3 weeks and I am anxious and nervous to get this done.

It may be your choice to go to those places but what choice do the workers get that need a job and are exposed to second hand smoke?? Just a thought....
-
I am from Ohio and I voted to ban smoking. My husband is an ex-smoker and he voted to ban it also. I have never been so happy in my life as I am now when we go into a restaurant and they don't ask if we want smoking or non?! My husband notices how his son smells awful and his clothes when he is with us because his mother smokes so much. He never noticed before. I WAS TRULY HAPPY THE DAY THIS LAW PASSED, I CAN ONLY BE HAPPIER WHEN I GET BANDED!!!
-
Hi! I was wondering if you could give me some insight on the surgery since you see this first hand?! Do you see success with the lap band, what drawbacks have you seen, if any? Any info that you can share would be great. Thanks, Christine

Paige, Hi again! I am around 31 miles from UPMC in Greenville. I have seen the cheaper prices also in Mexico but want to stay here. I also checked out St. Vincent, Cleveland Clinic, etc... It will be 15 -17K where I am going and I believe it will be worth every penny. I just pray there won't be any need for another surgery because of the expense. I know you must be counting down the days since your surgery is so close. Good Luck! Are you on a pre-op diet? Christine

I just wanted to say hello and I go to my seminar on January 12th. I have been counting the days!! Unfortunately, there is a direct exclusion with my Med Mutual policy and I have to self-pay, but it will be worth every penny! I have been reading and researching every night. I still have not figured out what pb stands for??? :help: Can someone help me out? I am going to UPMC Horizon for my surgery. Wishing all of a you a Happy New Year!!
