  1. Good day everyone. Just quick question to any of you who had a confirmed band slip, or slippage ... How did you know? Was there pain associated with the slippage? Could you feel it at all. At the actual time it slipped, or afterward? Did you ever find out WHY it slipped in the first place? Thank you!

    Hair

I was banded Dec 2010, so I'm about 13 1/2 months out ... lost 110 pounds so far. I have had a lot of problems with the hair loss since about month 8 or so. I had a few friends even comment on it (yikes). Since then, I have really started making sure that I get in all of my protein (60 grams) daily (I was really slacking in the protein department) ...taking my multi vitamins and another supplement which is Biotin (Hair, Skin and Nails) daily and also I just purchased a shampoo and conditioner called Nioxin (sold by salons, but I bought mine on line thru Amazon)... which is supposed to stop hair loss and actually re-grow lost hair in 6-8 weeks of continued use. I just used the shampoo this morning for the first time, so I'll keep you all posted over the next several months if I see any improvement.

Trish thanks for the info that you listed. I'm going to try both of the supplements that you listed there, as i was also found to be deficient in the Vitamin D area in my bloodwork. My surgeon actually perscribed the Vitamin D weekly for me, for 3 months.

  5. I have lost 110 pounds so far and have another 10 to go. I've been going back and forth on this idea as well though. I also am a HUGE spanx fan (actually Leggs makes a shaper that is a heck of a lot more affordable and works just as well). A good bra and the shaper and with clothes on I'm pretty happy. Without the clothes (bathing suit etc).... not so much. I definately would like to do something with "the girls" and a tummy tuck (I heard that the pain on the TT is AWFUL). I also was told that the tummy tuck would be covered by Aetna, but I'm sure they would push back when the time actually came if I wanted to get it done. My hubby discourages any type of plastic surgery (he says loves me anyway, wrinkley and all ... which makes the idea of getting anything done, even more difficult). Congrats to everyone who has done so well! In my wildest dreams I never thought I would have this problem, so on that level I'm really thankful that the band has worked so well that I even need to consider plastic surgery.
  6. I am 13 months out now, but I do remember having to take those deep breaths (kind of like a gasp for air). I remember it subsiding after a few weeks though. Also remember asking the PA during a post-op visit, and he assured me it was normal. Never had the runny nose. You will be fine. And to anyone out there ... 1 year out or several years out .. WE WERE ALL NEWLY BANDED AT ONE TIME! Don't be scared off by some Trolls on the board, ask anything you want in order to get the support you need! Good luck everybody! I'm 13 month outs out, 110 pounds down and have 10 pounds to go. Don't give up, YOU CAN DO IT!
