EXERCISE-someone be real with me!
Miss A replied to MoTown22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Jan 5th and at first I started off just working out in my basement (using video game workouts) then about 3 weeks ago I joined the gym. I go in the morning while my kids are in school and try to go for an hour 5 days a week. I was told by my pcp and the office staff that did my lapband that 30 min a day is good. Good Luck to you! *~January 2011 Bandsters~*
Miss A replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on January 5, 2011, I have had my up's and down's since the surgery with losing weight then gaining it back etc. I got my first fill yesterday and lost 3 lbs in one day so that made me feel awhole lot better and raised my spirits again. I also got a gym membership so I am hoping with my new fill and my attitude being back on the positive side my weight loss will continue. Wish the rest of you the best of luck on your weight loss journey. Alison -
how soon can you exercise?
Miss A replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started after I got my staples out and my incisions healed so I would say about 2 weeks post op. I started off lite by using my son's Xbox and playin Your Shape but now that I am 1 month post-op I started the gym on monday and have not had any problems. -
Hello my names mandy and im a scaleaholic!!!!
Miss A replied to mandyMO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the same way, I really think I have become obsessed with my weight and since I have gained weight due to Water weight etc everytime I weight myself I become more and more depressed and discouraged and start second guessing myself about having the surgery. -
Hi I had surgery on Jan 5th so as of today I am 3 weeks post op and I would say my incisions stopped hurting when I was in my 2nd week. I had my staples removed on the 10th whiched helped alot, but there are times when I move a certain way or do certain exercises that it is still tender. I am able to sleep on my stomach with no pain at all. If you are in that much pain I would say to go buy some Adult Strength Liquid Tylenol and see if that helps you throughout the day. Wishing You the Best Alison

Before I got the lapband I was given a diet from a nutritionist she told me to eat 6 small meals a day and I was able to do that and lose alot of weight so I think I might try that again when I am able to eat food and not this mushy stuff lol

Help: Feel like I have something stuck in my throat
Miss A posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everybody I will be 3 week post op tomorrow and just started eating mushy foods. I just made some eggs for lunch using egg beaters and made sure to chew them very well about 15-20 times and yes I did count to be on the safe side but now that I have finished the eggs I feel like I have something caught in my throat. Is that normal? It feels like I have flem stuck in my throat that won't come up, I don't kno if I shoul cough to try to see if it is flem or just drink some fluids and see what happens. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks In Advance -
when did your appetite come back?
Miss A replied to adriennemarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello and Congrats on getting the band. I am actually 3 weeks post op and I would say that I started to get hungry when all the swelling went down so probably like a week later. I think most of it was head hunger from seeing everybody else eat but I def started to feel it in the 2nd week. -
Partners who Sabotage
Miss A replied to mmarshalynne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like he is very insecure and he doesn't wanna see you do good. Only you can decide what is the best thing for you to do with reguards to him but I will say to stay strong and continue to keep up the good work with your weight lost. Best Wishes to you! -
The Dance Central game for the Kinnect also has a workout mode that also counts your calories. After doing one song I already burned 20 calories. The game is tough and will make you sore and sweat alot but it is def fun and worth trying out.

To swallow or not to swallow
Miss A replied to grumpys wife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just practice now while your not banded and by the time you get banded you should be fine. -
I recently just bought and started to use the Your Shape game and it is pretty good. It also counts your calories and has some fun features.

Hi Kristina, I am 2 weeks post op and I will say that some of my hair has been falling out, but not in big pieces like strands when I am washing my hair and more seems to come out when I brush my hair. I will say though that my hair was healthy but not 100% healthy due using chemicals in my hair like relaxers and hair color, but before the surgery I had it pretty much under control. I been taking Vitamins and hope that it will help and I have also read on here that the Vitamin Biotin is suppose to be really good to help with hair loss however I haven't been able to find it in chewable or liquid form. As for excessive body hair I have never heard of that and have not experienced it and I really hope I don't lol. Hope this helps you out.

Does anyone gain weight in the first few weeks after surgery?
Miss A replied to ascicles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting this question I am 2 weeks post op and gained 2 pounds and started feeling like I was doing something wrong. My boyfriend explained to me just like what Ammastar stated due to the fact that we are pretty much starving our body is in starvation mode, but I was glad to read this post and the responses to know that it is not just me. -
Hi Rachael, I just was banded on January 5th 2011, and I have already lost 9 pounds. I am not a "pro" about the band but I will say that I have been on liquids since the 5th and have not found myself hungry at all. The only thing that was difficult for me after a few days was smelling the food that everybody else was eating I was still not hungry but just smelling some of my favorite foods was hard but I made it through the temptation and just went into my room lol. My bad was filled at the time of surgery and Im not exactly sure how much but I guess thats whats keeping me from being so hungry. I started off @ 250 in August, I went to the seminar in September were I was 240 and had to be @ 228 for surgery. The day of my surgery when they weighed me in the hosptial I was 226 and now 5 days post op I am 217! With that being said I think the band, the pain and everything else is worth it! Good Luck on your journey Alison

Hello Everybody, I had my lapband surgery yesterday and everything went fine, I don't even feel hungry at all or even thristy at all but I am making sure I keep up on my liquids so im no dehyrdrated. However I am feeling really sore and it hurts when I breathe, I have burped a couple of times to get some of the gas out but I feel like Im just full with gas. Does anybody know how long it might take to get all the extra gas out from the surgery? Thanks in Advance
-
Hi I had my surgery yesterday too and I was told I was suppose to drink 3 oz an hour and every ounce should take 20 minutes to drink. I am also very sore in my mid section too, I try not to cough cuz it hurts so bad but I know I have too, I also have a hard time moving around when Im laying down or trying to get up. It also hurts when Im in the car and we go over bumpy roads. Do you still feel like ur full of gas? I been walking around and drinking my fluids to burp and also taking Gas X strips but I still feel like I have a big air bubble inside of me.

Kristen Thanks I really appreciate it and I will let you know how everything goes, and yes the next five days will fly by quickly. I wish you the best of luck also!

Well tomorrow is the big day and I am so excited, I have waited for this for the past 6 months and I can't believe I will be banded tomorrow. The best thing about it is my surgery is set for 7:45 in the morning so I don't have to wait all day .

3 Days until Surgery & Im an Emotional Wreck!
Miss A posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having my surgery on the 5th and since Friday the 31st I have been a emotional wreck. Some of it is due to some issues that have nothing to do with the surgery but I just feel so sad and depressed when I should be feeling happy and excited because my life is about to change. Usually I am not an emotional person at all but for some odd reason it has hit me hard this week. I know alot of it is probably my nervous but has anybody else become depressed or very emotional right before they had their surgery? -
