  1. We aren't in a battle against food, we are in a battle against ourselves. Think of your band as the angel and the devil on your shoulders (or in your stomach)... In the end it's our choice as to how we treat our bodies.

  2. Really having to work to get my butt up and workout. Crazy tired today.

    Good Aerobics DVD

I really like The Biggest Loser workout DVD's. I have Cardio Max and The Last Chance Workout and they kick my butt! I also really like Jillian's 30 Day Shred series. There are three levels and you work your way up!
  4. Hello ladies! Just thought I would say that I really enjoyed the group tonight and if anybody wants to get together for some "lapband friendly" activities I'm up for it! Crista
  5. Starting to get a bit frustrated. Following all the rules and nothing is happening.

    day 1 of liquid diet

It's not easy but you can do it! The gas will get better if you switch it up! Just hang with it!
  7. Got my Body Media Fit today! So excited!

  8. Congratulations! I love Dr. Lutfi! He did a FABULOUS job banding me... my recovery was very quick!

    Mini Trampoline

I am having little luck making myself go to the gym to do the typical stuff (treadmill, eliptical, ect.) and was wondering if anyone uses a mini trampoline? I'm thinking of buying one to get some cardio (and fun!) in every day. Has anyone had success with one?
  11. Finally getting the hang of this whole workout thing. Third workout in 24 hours!

  12. Down 40 lbs today. It feels awesome! Come on 50!

  13. Liquid diets are so much friendlier post surgery. Almost like an old friend. :)

  14. I am right where you are. It's weird that I am now more self conscious of my body than I was 40 lbs ago. I have a theory that I had my "fat goggles" on and now they are off. I'm starting to realize the amount of damage I've done to my body and it's definitely an emotional process. When people tell me that I look good it kind of irritates me because I have so far to go and I KNOW I don't look great. Don't get me wrong, I am very proud that I have started the process but I am a realist. I just say thank you and try to move on. I think I'm just angry with myself right now for allowing myself to get so unhealthy- like I said, It's a process. Allowing ourselves to be angry or sad and not running to food to help ease the pain is the first step!
  15. I'd like to join the party too! I've never done a challenge before! What are the rules/ guidelines?
  16. This is really funny because I am having the opposite problem... I'm SO hungry!! This is my first cycle since being banded (6/20) and I have had a pretty easy time making good choices and eating the right portions until this week. I am trying so hard to stay on track! Ugh!
  17. Went through my closet today. Pretty excited about how big the "too big" pile is!

  18. Carbs... you f*ing bastards. I love to hate you.

  19. Having a hard time finding the strength and energy to workout when I get home. I work with 16 two year olds for eight hours a day and am no lazy teacher. I am dead beat when I get home!

  20. I tried just about everything and my favorite is Muscle Milk. I wasn't allowed to mix the protein powder with milk so I found that chocolate muscle milk was the best with water!

    26 DAYS!!

My procedure lasted about an hour and a half because I had a hiatial hernia. Once they woke me up they took me to recover where I only stayed about 20 minutes. I think I was in there for such a short time because as soon as I woke up I was wide awake. As far as how you feel when you wake up- a lot of pressure. It felt difficult to catch my breath but not in a scary way. Once you start walking it feels like your guts might spill out (and it feels like that for several days). I was happy to have an overnight stay because it was my first surgery and I was still a bit nervous about being at home all freshly opened up. The next day I was SO ready to leave and they made sure to get me out asap because I had listened to them so well. Sorry, I know this is more information than you asked for... I wanted to feel prepared before the surgery!

    26 DAYS!!

I was SO nervous about the surgery that when they wheeled me into the OR I almost said "get me out of here!" Luckly they put the mask on me and the next thing I knew I was waking up! It was quite scary at first because you go to sleep feeling good and you wake up in pain but the fear only lasted a minute. Once I was up I was ready to start my banded life! Word of advice: Get up and walking AS SOON as you can, I swear it will make you feel better. I was walking 2 hours after surgery and the nurses couldn't keep me out of the hallway- my recovery was quick, easy, and complication free! Good luck!
  23. How is banded life going? I can't believe it's been 3 weeks!

  24. Adding green smoothies to my daily diet and it feels great!

  25. I went back and forth quite a bit before my surgery. I felt like I was kind of giving up. Once I started feeling that way I thought of all the times I tried and failed. I finally decided to go ahead and have the surgery. Now that I have the band I am so happy. I have only been banded for 3 weeks but I am really starting to get a feel for the tool that I gave myself. When it comes right down to it just getting the band will not make you loose weight- you have to do the real work. Yes, the band will give you friendly (and sometimes not- so- friendly) reminders but it is me who makes the choice of what to put in my body. I think it's natural and great that you are really thinking about this and taking it seriously. Whatever choice you make- Good luck!
