Hello! I was banded on January 3, 2011 and I can't be happier. I have my good days and bad days. When I really want to be honest with myself, I really haven't done enough. That's usually the case. For example, I had surgery to remove two lumps from my right arm so I haven't exercised in two weeks. When I exercise I see the most results. When I don't the scale won't move 1 inch, lol. Anyway, I was feeling sorry for myself until I sat down and really thought about it. I haven't even done the housework. But tomorrow I can begin. I think the most important thing is keeping active or busy as some people like to say. People aren't happy unless you're up and about anyway. I say stay prayerful, optimistic and assertive. If you don't, yes, you are going to have bad and gloomy days. Remember, it's just a tool to help us stay on ourselves, because yes, most of us love to eat. I am one of them. But I realize when you eat because you love it, instead of eating to live better, that becomes a problem. I hope this helps.

Hi! What does PB mean? I'm a newbie. I got my lap band surgery on January 3, 2011. I am managing but the times that are really bad for me is during the menstrual cycle. I can't over eat. One time I came close to vomiting and I felt that band when the stomach lurched. That episode frightened so badly that now I have to plan ahead what I have to eat (which I probably should have done originally) and the hunger and craving during that time has subsided. I think when we overeat, we don't think about eating. We get to a point that if you want something I'm going to eat it or whatever. But the lap band restricts you, but like someone said earlier, they can eat around it. If someone wants something bad enough and eats it, that just means the person hasn't learned why they overeat. Before the band I ate whenever, and whatever I wanted. But now, I have to learn to only eat when I'm hungry, let my eyes see the food, see me eating the food and feel myself eating the food. I mean, I don't know how someone else does it, but that works for me. I wait 30 minutes after eating, and sometimes, I still want to eat, but, I'm not hungry. That's when I start drinking my water because if I don't, I won't stop eating. My two cents.

Yes, only deal with people who are supportive and leave those others alone.

Hi, I had my surgery on January 3, 2011. I was sore for two weeks but now entering my 3rd week I'm feeling much better. I've been given the ok to eat soft foods. However, since starting I'm having gas issues again and now I'm constipated. Anyone else out there with the same problem, please respond. -
Just banded and really suffering!

Hello, I am new to this site. I had my lapband surgery on January 3, 2011 and I'm so happy. Yes, I was in pain with the gas. Plus I had hiatal hernia surgery (swelling in the esophagus above the stomach). So, I had twice the pain. I was discharged with liquid tylenol with codeine. I don't use it much. But, only when I have gas pain which is starting back up. Anyone, have the same thing? To the newbie person it's going to be painful for at least 2 to 3 weeks. I still have some pain in my side and in my chest. Good luck to you!!! -
Hi I'm new to the lap band talk website. I'm scheduled for lap band surgery on Jan 3, 2011 and I'm so excited. I've heard the good, the bad and the ugly. I've had surgery before (female related) so I know what to expect --the gas I know for a fact is something else. So I'll prepare myself for that. Anyway, I'm glad your surgery went well. Peace!
