    Extremely Discouraged

Hi, I'd suggest 100+ grams of Protein shake per day and a ton of Water. Force yourself to have 5+ shakes per day. It should calm things down. Good luck

    Feeling Hungry!

I got banded on May 23 and am on all liquids for 3 weeks. I drink a ton of high protein shakes, soups, drink mixes and it seems to work for me. Good luck!
  3. Yes it gets better, dayb by day
  4. How did it go? I just got home. Things went well for me,although i'm in a fair amount of discomfort.
  5. Tomorrow, May 23, at 7:30am i get banded. I have to admit, I'm pretty nervous!!!
  6. My wife is against me getting the band. She is concerned that I won't make life changes (exercise). I need to loose 75 lbs to get to a healthy bmi. (I just leasrned that I am pre-diabetic and my cholesterol is off the charts) Right now I exercise 1 x per week. I'm just not motivated to exercise more with all this weight I lug around. I tell her that after I loose a little weight I will have more energy to go to the gym, walk, etc. She wants me to demonstrate life changs for 6 mos before getting the band. The Dr. is ready to schedule my surgery in 3 weeks. Really not sure what to do. Your thoughts would sure be appreciated. Peter
  7. THANK YOU to all of you who have replied. I'm encouraging my wife to spend more time on this site and this discussion. I really appreciate your support. I'm so tired of lugging this weight around, while I carry the weight well (I don't necessarily look like I am 75 lbs overweight) the weight is so dibilitating its crazy. Also, now that the Dr has told me I am prediabetic and in his words "your Triglyceride are ungodly high" i'm really motivated to do something about my health and weight. As many of you surmised, my wife does not have a weight problem whatsoever and can pretty much eat what she wants- lucky her! Anyway, I think her good health makes it hard for her to understand why exercising more and eating less just isn't working for me. I know the band is not a silver bullet, but rather a "consumption drill sargent" and I am ready to fall into line. Thanks again for all your words of wisdom!
  8. Hi, I take 3-4 different pills to manage depression and anxiety (zoloft, abilify, ritalin, clonazopan). I think these med's have slowed my metabolism, but don't know for sure. I wonder if a lap band would be helpful or not? I still eat too much at night has (which has nothing to do with the meds) so I think the lap band would really be effective. I also don't really exercise, which I know I need to do. Any thoughts on psych meds and effective weight loss w/ the lap band?
  9. Hi All, Not sure if I am posting this in the correct spot, but was wondering if anyone had recent thoughts on SWL vs UW in Seattle. I'm paying out of pocket and just want the best surgeon and follow up support etc. Thanks, Peter
  10. Hi there, Did you ever find a local support group in Seattle? I am likely going to use Dr. McMahon. Any thoughts on UW? Peter
  11. Thanks for this post. I'm going to be a self pay in Seattle w Dr. McMahon. Its going to be around $16K and my goal is to loose 60-70 lbs.
  12. Amen! Have you thought about Overeaters Anonymous??
  13. Hi All, Thank you for reading. I'm trying to deteremine if a Lapband is for me. I need to loose 75lbs. Aside from the excess weight deeply and negatively impacting my self esteem I have terribly low energy during the day and sleap apnea. My number one issue in my life is my weight. I overeat primarily due to emotional reasons (stress, anxiety, self worth issues). Will a Lapband help me loose weight or will I just restreach my stomach? What should I be thinking about? Thanks and happy new year. Peter
