new and seeking advice re removal

Dear Marrakesh Before you do anything, you talk to your psychologist! Tell her how you are feeling. If you have your food issues under control I wouldn't think you would feel deprived because you can't have more. It takes along time to overcome problems, then add weight issues. . .a real bag of worms! Talk to your Doctor and psychologist.
  2. Hello Everyone, my pre-tests are Monday, I kind of wish they would say I have go on a liquid diet, I'm feeling like everyday is my "last supper", out of control or maybe food is just on my mind all the time right now. I never thought about food before, I just ate when I wanted to. Anybody else feel that way before the banding day?

    February 2007 bandsters!

LouiseR. . . I hear you about wishing to do a pre-test diet, I don't have to either. Just Liquids the day before. It would be like practicing, having to do it for a while before. Then those who do get a head start on their weight loss. The Carnation Breakfast with 1 cup fat free milk is about 15 grams of protein. Just how many grams are we suppose to get aday.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Just got my paper work with my appointments and all it says is no fasting for the pre-tests, then clear liquids and then nothing after 12:00 midnight the day before surgery. How can there be such a difference between Drs.?

    6 Freaking Months!??!

As I have said, I started this whole procedure in April 06 and finally have my date, Feb. 12. I have BCBS. This has taken along time, friends and family were asking do you have a date yet? When I started they said about 16 weeks. Some where along the way the time must have been changed, but nobody told me. But it is here now, so hopefully they don't cancel or postpone this.
  6. I am still excited about having my date for surgery, that I'm not sleeping good at night. I wake up thinking they'll call and say for some reason it's been cancelled. Anxiety? I had one attack that sent me to the hospital, Doctor's were sure it was a heart attack, after a night and all kinds of tests, it was nothing. Anxiety, I was to worked up about a test I had to take to keep my bus drivers license. The next one I just ignored, I wasn't going through all that crap again. The body certainly plays nasty games. Good Luck to you all. Bonnie
  7. I'm having Dr. Kelly, I met with him in Dec. My surgery date is for Feb 12. I didn't ask for anyone special, he was the next Doctor available. Very pleasant. I'm thrilled! My pre-surgery-tests appointment, is Jan 29.

    February 2007 bandsters!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I was so forthcoming about myself that the psycologists had me seeing another psycologist (I hate being fat to the point I would rather be dead than have the health issues that my parents have). He didn't really understand why I was there. So we worked on my needle fear.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Just came in from my bus run. Someday soon It will be alot easier checking those seats, fitting down that isle:cheer2:. My pre-tests are Jan.29th. I have to miss the morning run. I'm so excited, even these tests are looking good to me. I had to see a physiologist for my phobia of needles. He says I'm ready. I've had a few needles, one in the elbow, an IV, and blood drawing (can't exactly practice this). But I want it so bad that if I'm not ready they'll (Doctors) have to deal with it, or me. TracyinKS - thanks for adding me to the list

    February 2007 bandsters!

:phanvan Can someone help me, I went to "tickerfactory". Everything went fine till I got to the cut and paste, I do not know how to do this. Help! I'm the only one here in this house who can use a computer. And I'm alittle sad in that department.:help:
  13. dedi717 Yes Feb.12 is the day of surgery. Pretests are Jan.29th. I'm scared, but I want a new life. I need to know there is life after 50. I have about 100lbs. to lose. BMI of 42. As for exercise, I use to walk, up untill my knees hurt so bad I thought I needed surgery. But I had to lose weight before they would except me for surgery(made no since to me, thats why I'm here). Anyway that 12lbs made my knees feel "some" better. So I might be able to walk after a few more pounds. I drive school bus, I go past the high school, so I use to leave early enough to walk the track. I even got another driver to meet me and walk. So thats where I want to start. thanks
  14. I got the call from my Doctor's office today, my insurance has excepted me. YES! YES! YES! were my exact words to the woman on the other end of the phone. From April 06, to Feb 12,07. I'm so excited and so up for this, I hope my 54 an half year old heart can stand the excitment. Thanks

    February 2007 bandsters!

I have my date Feb. 12th. I feel like I must be the only one who has been waiting a long time. I started all my visits and meetings (at U-Mass Weight Center,in Worcester, MA )in April 06. In March I went to my own Dr. to get his okay and document my weight and other health issues. Maybe it's my insurance that requires all of this(Blue Cross Blue Shield). But, my day if finally in sight. I'm so excited! My children are very supportive, my Husband is a different story, he is awful when it comes to surgerys, tubes, cuts, blood anything to do with hospitals and sick people. (On top of that his father died Jan 1st). So I'm on my own with this, at home anyway. But then there is my COMPUTER. Thanks Bonnie

    6 Freaking Months!??!

Dear Margo, I started with my first meeting in 4-26-06. This did not include my appointent with my own Dr. I just met the Dr. who will do the surgery 12-21-06. He said about 8 weeks to surgery.:notagree I thought about throwing in the towel but it finally is coming to the day
  19. HMO Blue but it is the hospital (weight center) that has you go to meetings, see a shrink, a nutri. to make sure you know what you are getting into. They also set you up with an exercise program. What part of NH?

    Massachusetts HMO BLUE

I'm from MA and have HMO Blue. I'm waiting to hear the go ahead from the insurance co. My Dr. says there should be no problem getting them to paying. I have enough health issues to make the happy I guess. Dr. Kelly out of U-Mass, Worcester is going to do it. I should get the word with in the new 2 weeks.
  21. Congratulations!! I'm waiting for the okay from my insurance. I'll have my surgery through U-Mass in Worcester MA. Hopefully this will take place in Feb. I started attending meetings for this in April 06. Seems like a long time coming.
  22. I love this thread, post or what ever it's called. I'm 54, and if all goes well will ge banded in Feb. 2007. I was so excited when I went to my first meeting. That was in April 06. Now I've been getting nervous and wondering if I'm to old for this. But I want to be able to walk without pain. Reading what you have all posted has definetly made me feel better.Thank-you
  23. I guess for all the meetings I had to go to, I have no Idea what the band size is or means. Does that have anything to do with the amount of fills you need? How long after you have been banded do they do a fill?
  24. My banding should take place in Feb. So it makes me feel real good to hear you are doing so well. kedasmom
  25. I started meetings in April I'm now waiting for Dr. Kelly (U-Mass, Worcester MA) to get papers from insurance, so maybe about the end of February I'll be banded. Bonnie
