I met Dr. Weiner, but Dr. Laker was my surgeon and he was wonderful, very caring and very knowledgable. We have similar personalities and he let me pick the music for the operating room, he's a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, which is good because I am too! I really enjoyed the teaching hospital experience. It was kind of like Grey's Anatomy. Dr. Laker did the actual procedure with the student's observing and they came by to check on me or take blood pressure or just to keep me company. Everyone at Harper was wonderful and I felt really supported.

Okay, so can you have a shallow port? Because today, I just began to be able to really feel my port. Ususally, I had to poke around and some days it is deep and some days it is easier to find, but today I really feel it. My surgeon has no advice, he says it's in place and hasn't slipped or anything like that.

Thank you so much for the information! I feel a lot better after having watched the YouTube video.

Hi, I am having my gallbladder removed on Monday, June 2. I have been banded since August 2007. My surgeon who is doing my gallbladder removal has a very negative attitude and has been the biggest you-know-what. I have to use him due to insurance. He told he that he "just hopes he doesn't have to move or take out my band in order to get my gallbladder out". He has made continual verbal statements to me about what he thinks of my lapband. I don't think he should even have to touch my band and if he does, I will slap his face. Can anyone give me some information? Thanks so much.

I was banded in August 07 and began taking Depo Provera in March 08, since that time, I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't been able to lose any weight either. Two of my friends have gained, so I guess I should count myself lucky that I did not gain. I am scheduled for a fill very soon and will not be renewing the shot until I get some more weight off of me.

Yeah, I do that too, just get a california roll, and the first time I ate sushi after being banded, I went really slow and it was fine. I tried to remove as much as the outer rice as possible and besides I don't eat it that often, maybe 1 time per month.

Anyone use Dr. Jaime Ponce in GA?
Lucky_Me replied to Nettie's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Ponce is great, but VERY overpriced. Cash price is around 23K- that's why I went to Michigan and had it done for less then HALF price. -
I used Dr. Scott Laker in Detroit and he is absolutely wonderful. He is extremely smart, caring, and very personable. I cannot imagine having chosen another doctor. Michigan Obesity Surgery Specialists - Experts in Gastric Bypass and LAP-BAND® procedures.
