  1. I have had the band for 1.2 yrs. I have had 30 lbs wt loss and have become frustrated since I am taking in around 1000 calories per day. I went to my family Dr and she gave me a diauretic to help with my water retention. Well, little did I know how much this affects my band! With the diuretic, I can eat more normally (eat food, not just drink liquids). I am relieved and have began losing weight but does this mean I'll be on a diuretic forever? Anyone else experience this!? Can't believe it took me a year to figure out why my band was soooo tight in the AM....well...cuz I retain so much water in the AM!

    Esophagus Damage?

How would you know if the band is damaging your esophagus from the PBing? What are the signs of a damaged esophagus?
  3. My 1 yr anniversary is in Jan. I have lost 30 pounds (all in the first 5 months) gained zero and lost inches. I can't eat in the AM and with my last fill, I really can't eat anything until 3-4pm. I drink tea when I get up in the AM and have a Protein drink for late breakfast/early lunch. I am getting sick of eating/drinking the same exact stuff day after day after day! Any suggestions? My band is tight but I am not losing weight so I feel like it needs to be this tight but I am getting frustrated that I can't eat anything! I have 1 meal/day and my guess, I am getting under 900 calories/day. How can I possibly not be losing weight?? My nutritionist says I need to eat like a normal person-3 meals a day. The only way I can do that is with my band loosened which I wasn't sucessful in losing weight. My family says they can't believe I am not losing with the little that I am eating. I think I need to introduce other foods but I can't find any that don't get stuck. Greek Yogurt cheese Protein Drink Soup (some get stuck, depending upon the time I eat it and what is in it)
  4. Once I was banded, I could no longer stand the protein I was drinking pre op. Weird? Anyways, I now use High 5 and like it. 118 calories, 1 g carb/sugar, 26 protein! It is pricey and I can only buy it online.
  5. I just got a fill a week ago. Prior to that I was not losing weight (experimented for 2.5 months before getting this last fill) hence why I got a .25 fill. I for sure am not drinking my calories. I drink tea Water and skim milk in my Protein drink. My protein drink is 118 calories;26 g protein; 1 carb. I add skim milk to that. Looser band didn't equal wt loss for me so that is why I tightened it. Prior to my last fill, I was able to eat a lot at night time. This new fill keeps me tight at night but I can't eat anything until late night??? Is anyone else tight in the AM? If so, how long?
  6. Oh, and if it is late enough in the day, I can usually get oatmeal down!
  7. I have been banded for 6 mos. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery. I have had 3 fill since surgery. Why am I only losing inches and not pounds? Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a reason for it? I have gone down 2 pant sizes but I can't move the scale?? This is my typical day: Can't eat anything in the AM...too tight Hot tea 12:00-1:00 Greek yogurt with high Protein granola 5:00 dinner with family....chicken, ground turkey....no Pasta or bread 8:00 snack...Mertz cheese and wheat thins Usually some kind of chocolate during the day=1 handful of choco chips or glass choco milk Suggestions??

    LBS vs inches

No exercise worth documenting. I probably get 40-50 grams per day. More if I drink a protein drink but I am so confused about protein drinks.....some people say I shouldn't "drink" my calories and I should eat protein.

What do you eat each day?

I am 6mos post op and I LOVED bread and Cereal. I would eat cereal anytime of the day. Since before surgery my dietician had me stop cereal and substitute with eggs. I haven't eaten a bowl of cereal for 8 mos!! I don't even crave it. I haven't eaten a roll/bread at a restaurant which was a little more difficult but when I analyzed it....I realized my body wasn't craving it, *I* just wanted it since that is what I always did at a restaurant....eat bread before my meal. I am able to eat Wheat Thins but only at night. I am too tight in the AM and become more loose as the day goes on. My day is: Hot tea Lunch-greek yogurt with high Protein granola handful of choco chips or choco milk dinner-chicken, ground turkey, and veggie or fruit cheese and wheat thins

    Stuck or Full??

Is it like a "wave" of pain/uncomfortableness? Almost like you are going to burp but you don't? I am 11 days post OP and I get this feeling after eating or drinking fast.

    alittle odd question

I am a week post OP. At day 5, I was feeling awful. Stomach ache, couldn't eat/drink, just felt overall crappy. I realized I was constipated. I took my daughters perscription stool softner and by the next day felt MUCH better!! Today I am 7 days post OP and almost feel "normal!" LOL!
  12. I am 7 days post OP. At 5 days I was miserable with a bad stomache ache, couldn't eat/drink. I realized I was constipated, took stool softner and by day 6 I was feeling MUCH better. Today I feel "almost" normal!
  13. Ahhhhhh! So glad you posted this. I am day 4 post OP (banded on Wed) and I am feeling the same. I feel tight and bloated today. I have not been able to eat/drink very well today. It is like a get a "wave" of pain from my stomach through my shoulders and a little burp after I eat or drink. I guarantee I didn't get anywhere close to the amount of liquids in today!
  14. I am 3 days post OP and just started puree. I just puree whatever my family is eating!
  15. Bummer, Thanks!! I was hoping for a quick fix!
  16. Hi I am on day 2 post OP and I am getting chest pains. They come and go but primarily after I eat (2T of yogurt or 2T of cottage cheese....tiny amounts of food). Is that my band telling me I am full?
  17. Ohhhhhh! Didn't think of that! I will start Gas X! THANKS!
  18. I have Aetna. I couldn't gain. Had to stay same or lose during the pre op dietician visits.
