  1. I read it and took no offense at all I thank you very much for the support! With my walks and pain meds I'm feeling pretty darn good.
  2. Not too bad an experience. The worst part was the first 10 minutes waking up from the anesthesia after that I felt ok. However, I will not it feels like I got run over by a freight train in my upper gut Sleeping was too bad either I sleep on my side and was able to sleep on just the right side and occasionally my back. How long does this soreness last? Does anyone think I can drive a car a short distance today I sort of need to. How bout your diet the first day after, broth jello etc correct. I know they've told me a hundred times but I'm that person that looks at you and doesn't hear you
  3. thanks it's sooo hard to slowly sip !!!!!! I'm drinking the isopure clear protein 20oz first I started at 7am this morning and I'm sipping away.

    Protein Diet....UGHHHHH

I only did it for a couple of days I had a light lunch then splurged on a Sat. night I had beers and some jumbalya then a breakfast burrito on Sunday. I went on the diet the rest of Sunday and Monday then all clear on Tuesday and Surgery on Wed. no problems at all. I too was about the same BMI.

    Today's my day

Hope it goes well for you hang in there!
  7. Believe me I was there and I'm about as indecisive as they come. I hung in there and went through with it yesterday. Hang in there and you'll do well it's truly not that bad of an experience. I had terrific nurses that helped a great deal. We'll be thinking of ya!!!
  8. how do I request or add friends? Sorry I'm not thinking clearly today.

  9. I got banded I'm tired as heck and pretty sore. It wasn't the worst experience but I'm moving pretty slow right now.. I'm having a very hard time keeping my throat moist without over drinking..
  10. I honestly don't know if I'd ever be 100%. My good friend who is also my personal Dr. Recommended this surgery as he's watched me yo yo on Atkins weight watchers nutri system over the past 14 years. I'm very very stocky so you honestly wouldn't think I need to lose 100lbs unless you saw me with my shirt off I'm just very scares at taking such a dramatic step.
  11. Oh Man am I questioning this decision right now. I go in tomorrow morning I'm sipping on beef broth right now and just truly wondering if this is the right thing. I keep telling myself all you need to lose is 90-100 lbs you can do that by working out and staying disciplined this time. This seems like such a desperate step, no one other then my mother in my family is overweight. If you saw me you'd think I only needed to lose 20lbs but I'm at 290 and should be about 190 maybe even 180. I wish the demons in my head would shut up.
  12. Congrats on the successful surgery. I'm going in to Methodist Hospital on Wed. with Dr. Pherrson I'm still a little nervous and hope the pain isn't too bad I need to go bad to work by Tuesday. I'm looking forward to seeing how your progress goes!
  13. good luck I'm with ya. I go in on Wed for my surgery and I'm questioning this decision daily, hourly, by the minute. If you saw me you'd probably think I'm not a candidate but I've been 100lbs overweight on and off for fifteen years.
  14. Good luck to ya I'll be there in spirit !!!
  15. I've been told a million different things I was told I can eat up till about a day or two before then to go to liquids. I was also told I should do atleast 14 days of stage two. Since that's impossible because I was called last week and scheduled this week for surgery. We'll see what happens I slipped and had some drinks and a decent dinner on Sat. night. It was sort of a last hoorah out to watch the Dan Band and party. I go in on Wed. at 11:30 for surgery. I'm doing the soups and drinks today and tomorrow.

    Dr. Bengt F Pehrsson

any update from either of you, this Dr. came highly recommended to me. I was told he's a no non-sense doctor and very experienced.
  17. Thanks for the tip on Fitday! I'm doing the Protein Shakes, Soup, cottage cheese etc.. but I am going to slip a little tomorrow night with a few drinks. We're also going out to dinner so I'll try to have a soup. We've been planning this night out and concert for a long long time and didn't think surgery would happen before. The nurse at the doctors office said not to tell the doctor but that I will be fine.
  18. Just curious if any of you cheated in Preop and still had the surgery? A buddy said he went out to a concert had a few drinks and a small dinner a few days before with no issues.
  19. nevermind Although reading these boards have helped there has been some post that have caused me to second guess. However, I received a phone call from a good friend who was banded and happened to have the same doctor. The hardest thing for me to except is that I'm 100lbs over weight and have been for a long time. thanks

    Beer

I'm with ya that's probably going to be the most difficult thing I love Beer with Flavor so it's gonna be tough.
  21. they called yesterday and said I need to start the stage 2 from now till my surgery on Wed. I'll try but I didn't even think about it this morning and had some eggs. A nurse in the office said no biggie she even said I can eat just a little but make sure I go very light this weekend and to follow the directions strictly the 24 hours before. I called a friend of mine who was banded and he had eaten the weekend before his surgery and he was ok. He had a lot more weight to lose then myself. I'm dreading the 2 week liquid diet, he was honest with me and said that was difficult..
  22. THISMUMROCKS, Wow thank you, your words definitely reaffirmed my choice.. The Waffle syndrome is crazy it's either by the our or minute I go back and forth..
  23. it's been a long process, I went to a seminar a year ago and met with the doctors I was at 40bmi so I didn't qualify. I walked out feeling humuliated and frustrated. I figure there must have been a reason I didn't qualify so I was ready to give up hope. My personal doctor and friend said to go back and double check he feels it's the right choice for me since he's seen my transformation from a very athletic person to an overweight person. I went back in November so it's taken about 3.5-4 months. I'm still so reluctant I'm over weight but I don't necessarily look real bad and many patients I've seen at the doctors office appear to be much more severe then myself. I sure hope this is the right move.
  24. thanks for the reply, I'm going to go through with it, but I can't stop questioning my decision. I've never really starved myself I've always done the Atkins or some version of it. I can put the weight off on a low carb diet but the kicker is staying on such a diet. My eating habits are horrible, I rarely eat breakfast, I eat a snack for lunch and don't eat dinner until very late at night. I know I'm going to have to get organized any suggestions on how to write a good journal?
