Good decision, as I posted earlier I had the same problem. I had 1cc taken out now I'm at 4.5cc and still tight but may be the perfect spot we'll see. mushy and liquid flow fine, solids as long as I chew chew chew I'm ok for the most part..

I've spent hours and hours researching this, from what I've been told and what I"ve researched the carbonation has very little to any effect on the band in regards to causing slippage or erosion. I don't really drink sodas anymore anyways not due to the band but due to my lifestyle change. However, on occasion I do but primarily I do drink beer and there has been absolutely no issues. My best friend has had the band for 4 years and he drinks diet soda religiously with ZERO negative effect on his band and he's lost 100lbs and maintained it for 2.5 years now.. I personally would not believe the hype.. My doctor whom I consider very well experienced stated the true reason is most doctors want their patience off carbonation is due to assisting with weightloss. Truly diet soda and regular soda are horrible for you anyways so why even go there..

yes I would say that's normal I'm very active skiing golfing ect.. and sometimes it's a little sore in that area depending on how much bending I've been doing no worries

Yes I just went through this exact same scenario... I was doing incredible losing a ton of weight and feeling good then after a month or so without even realizing it I started eating more and taking large bites with no issues. I went in for a fill to have the band tightened since over time it does tend to loosen. We'll have a week or so there was no increase in restriction. I went back in for another fill and still nothing. The doctor finally tried to take some fluid out to see and Whamo, he only drew 2cc's when there should have been 6.. This was a HUGE blow to his ego since no patient in this office has experienced this.. He still didn't believe it was a leak and did another fill. 4 weeks later I went back and sure enough 2cc's no increase in fluid.. It took me months to get in for a flouro which I was not happy about and sure enough there's the leak. It took another 6 months to get approved and in for surgery to fix the leak. He ended up replacing the port also while I was under.. Now I'm on my 2nd fill and possibly too tight.. The entire process took a year and I gained 35 of the 50lbs I had lost.. My advice is DO NOT WAIT!!! Insist that the doctor move forward and fix the leak ASAP... sorry for the rambling.. If you need any more info feel free to send me a message.

Prior to my leak I was at the perfect spot and often ate my meals with the baby spoon or fork that truly helped a great deal! I was on a roll losing a lot of weight then the damn leak happened. I'm at the same spot you are now with my second go around, I'm wondering if I need an unfill I'm at 5.5cc from my 2nd fill yesterday. It's hard to remind myself I had the same experience last time and after a few days it adjusted. If you're honestly trying whats been suggested and you're still having issues then get a small unfill and see how that goes. If that loosens it too much then you know you we'rent honestly trying and will need a fill.. Don't feel bad, it's not a perfect science and not all of us are the same. Once you find that spot you'll know it..

I'm having a very similar issue. I had a leak and went through a long process to get everything fixed. I had my 2nd fill yesterday and I believe I'm now at 5.5cc. Initially I could feel that plain water was not flowing completely free but did go down. I had some soup last night now huge issues but definitely felt food going down. Prior to my leak I was at 6.5 CC and never experienced this tight feeling infact I was pretty much at the perfect spot and losing lots of weight. This 2nd go around has me a little worried.. How many days should I wait for this I know you're not supposed to but I tried a hard boiled egg this morning I had to eat it EXTREMELY SLOW and it still felt very tight..

Sorry I've not posted in a very long time, I was doing awesome with the band until this past October when suddenly I had no restriction. Nothing unusually occurred so I was very confused. I slowly started putting weight back on and was battling old habits. I waited a few weeks to see if maybe it was just my imagination but I kept pushing it with meals and types of food still with no issues. I couldn't get in to see my dr. till after the Christmas holidays which of course killed me weight wise. Finally, got in and he said he highly doubted it was a leak said the band my have moved a little due to my great weight loss. He filled me a little however, still no change. Didn't get in for another 6 weeks and I continued to gain.. Long story short he realized it much be a leak, he felt horrible about my situation and of course I'm his first leak ever. Guess I have to go in for another fill under an xray to see where my leak is then we go from there.. This totally sucks I feel extremely frustrated and I've put 25lbs back on not happy at all because not only have I gained I stopped losing and I was on such a great track...

speak with the surgeon and have him perform a flouroscope (spelling?) ASAP, it took me 6 months to get mine to agree to this and sure enough they found the leak. My doctor felt awful and was really kissing up to me probably afraid I'd sue for making me wait so long. It took another 5 months before I could get it fixed I was extremely frustrated, but I'm good with a new port and back to the starting line.. Good luck and be assertive do not allow them to intimidate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Dont Know What To Do
Bruinfan replied to knknosmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
not sure what to say but what an ass, he's just worried that after you lose the weight other men will be whistling at ya.. -
Ok I haven't posted in ages. I wanted to wait until I finally had the leak fixed. The delays killed me, I put on 35lbs totally sucks, but finally they fixed the problem. They replaced the entire port instead of just fixing the tube, they felt since they were there might as well upgrade everything.. Now it's back to the beginning, he put in about 3cc's but not feeling much restriction. I hate this process of finding the happy place.. If anyone has to go through this process feel free to shoot me a message.

thanks for the reply, I've been playing phone tag with them attempting to get my appointment scheduled to repair the leak. According to them it sounds like it's a very quick appointment and done as an outpatient possibly with no anesthesia. I really need to get this fixed, I was doing so great before and now have put 25+ back on which sucks...
-
waiting to schedule the appt. they said I'll just go in for an outpatient procedure sure hope it's as easy as they say but I'm not looking forward to another scar.

What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?
Bruinfan commented on Jim1967's blog entry in Jim1967's Blog
hang in there I was losing a ton then got a leak in my band and went back up 25lbs. I had hoped to be way down a 1.5 years lady but it's the long battle we got ourselves into and we're not going to QUIT!!! I didn't tell anyone for the specific reasons you're confronting, not much I can say except you have a lot of people that you've never met behind you!!! -
Finally had the test to find the leak and Yup I have a leak which sucks. The good news they said is it's in the hose section close to the port so for the most part its an easy fix however, they weren't specific why. I'm still waiting for the consultation appt to hear the explanation and about the procedure.. Of course I'm the first leak for this specific doctor and only the second in the office among the three doctors.. Has anyone else ever had a leak fixed? If I had a nickle for every time the doc apologized I'd be a millionaire.
-
You're going to hear a ton of varying opinions about the beer. I've spoken with 5 Lapband doctors and they all state the carbonation will not stretch the pouch but they did state beer was not wise due to the empty calories. I've had beer numerous times with no issues at all and I've had 3 fills and I'm still losing weight slowly but still losing.
-
ok I had that prior to my surgery but if I'm reading correctly people are getting that when they get a fill that's the part that's confusing me.. I've had 3 fill I'm at 8cc I believe but curious how the other procedure works with that. I'm guessing you can see how much flows through..I know I'm tight but not to the point I'm miserable. I have had several stuck episodes you'd think I'd learn, and seemed to be tighter in the early morning.
-
keep us posted I'm curious how it turns out, I had some soreness and aching pains that had me concerned but I let it go and seem to be ok now.. Dumb Question but what's fluoro?
-
I'm gonna wait for now ,but I'm eating mostly the same foods as before just slower. I had shredded BBQ ckn last night and mashed potatoes last night now issues at all and some corn. Today I snacked on some sunflower seeds (no shell) and felt a little bit got close guess I ate too many at once. Also I had some beef jerky today no issues however, yesterday no matter how small the bite was it would go down slowww.. I'm not hungry so atleast that's a good thing and I'm getting my protein maybe the weight will start coming off faster...

I was banded in Feb. 2011 and things have gone well until recently. I've had three fills up to 6.5 right now. Although I had minor stuck issues they would go away within a minute or two. Recently I've had two episodes one with rice the other with a tortilla where both got stuck and it was extremely painful and wouldn't go away. I pb'ed slimed etc.. and the pain just wouldn't go away so both times I forced myself to vomit Huge relief from the pain. I know this is wrong but I took small bites so I'm confused why I got stuck. I hope I didn't do any damage but I couldn't handle the pain anymore. Fyi I'm down 50 lbs I haven't gained but I have stayed at the same weight mainly due to my summer vacations but now that schools back in I'll start losing again I'm sure.
-
today was small bites small bites small bites,,, seems like my band is getting tighter no matter what I eat I was fine the first two weeks after the fill but seems tighter now..
-
funny thing is I had spanish rice and a quesadilla last week with no isses, but when I ate egg fried rice on it's own Wowzer it was pain full. Then yesterday I took a bite of a burrito while driving and ouch.. It became so painful I pulled off the free pulled to a side street and puked. Though all was good took a drink of ice tea and Yikes had to pull over again.
-
Ok now I'm feeling more normal, I've had to episodes within the last week where I got stuck and it was very painful. I made myself throw up and wow what a relief after wards but I did find I became very hungry.
-
hang in there we all had doubts, but it's soooooo worth it..
-
I went in today for what was supposed to be my first fill however, due to my weightloss and not really feeling hungry it didn't happen. My doctor stated as long as I'm not hungry and still losing weight he'd like to give it another 4-6 weeks to see how I do. I actually agreed with him since things seem to be going well I'd rather continue this way then get a fill and be too tight and experience that situation.

Surgery 3/30/11 So nervous!
Bruinfan replied to Mommyof3cuties's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
walk walk walk walk and the gas pains will go away much faster I walked the next morning and never really experienced any pain.. good luck
