Yes...I have been doing what I need to do with my 2 sons. No assistance from their Mom. Just doing what I need to. I am not even getting myself into any relationships until I can get my goal done--well at least 50% done. I have seen two Women who are interestd--but I am remaining friends. I have to get my workout schedule done--but the main thing is to impliment it. Yes--the super bowl was my last party scene for life where I had ribs, chicken and the rest of the greasy food. I must admit--after the 2 days--my stomach did hurt once again. Strange how God is trying to tell me something important...Lee

Well...I am down to the last weeks....I have a dietician class tomorrow...,.The I will see "Dr Weaver" on Feb 28--to set up my surgery date. I hope that week 1 or 2 will be a great week....I am not worried so much now that I am getting the hang with eating yogurt and sugar free jello in the past few weeks....Making it my snack--it's making me feel so much different. The only thing to disrupt anything was the Superbowl party. Next year--same time will be so much different. July 4th, Thanksgiving and Xmas....I am hoping to eat very little for a big change in my life...Lee

Hello....I understand the policy well. I used to be married to a school teacher about 3 years ago. They had the same policy. The reason my surgery is going to be paid like 99% is that I was injured at my goverment Job. So in turn I have medicare along with BC/BS. I had to pay $350 for the program fee and $60 for the Mental status report. In all, it'll be only $160. BC/BS says they will refund $250. Because my co-pays are paid by them.....Who knew??

    For Just Us Guys

Hey there.....I am a 49 year old single father of two little guys. I haven't got banded yet. I have to go to Memphis, TN--aout 30 miles to the north. I have a Feb-28th appointment to talk with Dr Weaver. I am told by her secretary, within two weeks time--I'll have the surgery after that. I expect now to be banded by March 1st to the March 15th date. My surgery has been approved by my 2 insurances. BC/BS is refunding $250 of the program fee I had pay out og pocket. Not bad at all...I am 270--looking for that 163 lb goal. I am hoping to make it to that 2.5 pounds a week thing. I would be very successfull if I do.

Well....I am not here to argue nor make anyone feel badly. I recall myself being placed on a diet while hospitalized. I recall how I loss weight without getting out of bed. I also went on a diet of my own--I recall how much I lost. My entire issue is having to maintain that. With this tool --the Lap band--I will have it in place to help me maintain this constant loss. .5 a week. That is possible too. I have set myself up for a winning situation. I have gotten my foods, my protien mixes, the meal substitutes. I am now doing them 3 times daily with the food I eat,. I have noticed a difference in where I am and how I feel. I took it to heart about what has to be done. In the weight loss business--it is hard to judge what a Person will achieve a week or a month. Trust me--my weight will come off without much of a problem. The Plateau issue--I already know about that--since I went through that 18 months ago. But with Gods help, my Dr, the Dietician and my following instructions--I will not fail. I am not going to fail. I have a motivating factor that pushes me hard--Being a Single Parent.....

    Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

The way they work it here--that Feb 28th is when the Dr tells you what date. I have no idea. But the receptionist who called to set up the 2/28 date says--"Dr Weaver usually schedules the surgery within 2 weeks after your appointment with her". The city is Memphis, TN,@ St Francis Hospital-- I live about 30 miles to the south in Mississippi.....

Well today I had 1 egg and ai trying the baby food again(Apples and Ham). I put it in the microwave for 25 seconds. I figure I can eat apples and ham and a few others with a little bit of sweetness. I tried the rest--uhhhhhhhh...nasty, But hey--there is yogurt and othr items which is soft and will bring down the weight. Also it'll follow the guidlines of the banding weeks in the beginning. I am hoping to use the liquid meal replacements I brought. I know that my hunger will be less and i am going to "LOVE" that.
  8. :faint: Just 6 years ago I wasn't good at cardio. I learned to increase my cardio y starting at 15 to 20 minutes on the treadmill. With me I have used a radio and a CD player to keep the boredom from attacking. Place in our favorite music--hopefully it's fast or a good pace. Even though I am 49, I prefer hip hop and some fast R & B music. Keeps me siinging and happy. The deal is to have me get used to the 15 to 20 minutes per day as a beginner. Of course this will be done at your 60 to 80% levels for your heart and pulse rate. I am not a doctor, so all of us will have to check with our Doctors before this program. I am not into arobics--just walking. Eventually I will move up 30, then 40 and one day hopefully within 60 days--I am at the 50 to 60 minute mark without stopping. Prior to the Katrina storm I was there. I stopped when there was no gym. Moved and had to deal with a depression-and a anti-depression medicine. I can't begin to tell you how I felt the first six months-great. Zoloft took a terrible turn on me. I had more symptoms than before I started. I could not sleep and had at least 10 more symptoms or what is called--side effects. Well, I had no gotten a weigh in and the scale looked crazy as I saw--260--from my 228 only 12 months prior. So after gaining 10 more--I stopped the medicine. Consulted my primary Dr. Found out, my kidneys were doing about a 70% Job. I was hurtig near my liver--I had developed that "fatty liver". Oh--I got on to the natural herbs and as I see it now..none of the symptoms are there. Plus my kidneys are back to 100%. Even my Dr asked--what did you take??? Water, Lemon and some herbs suggested by my little Herbal book...Now since it's been right 150 days--but my weight has been between 262 and 270--I am doing the lap band. The approval is in--but the list is long here. I am looking at March now--without a doubt. It's going to take 1 month to see Dr Weaver--then I am told--within 2 weeks--I'd get Banded.....thank God...Back to the treadmill and the weights for sure....

    Fatty Liver

Hey Lisa.....I am looking for that all to change. When we took the chance to go through the processes. We were fed up. I am fed up. I am hoping to look better, feel better--more energetic--then on top of it all---rid my body of the fat insides as well as out...

    Fatty Liver

Yes....I had my ultra sound in November. Then I said--that is it for me. I am going on a diet--but the lap band diet. I thought---mmm...it's time to make a change before age 50 slaps me in the face....I will make 50 in June. I am lucky to have many folks say I look 40....I think I look fatter....

    Building your Cardio and more

Thank you very much on the motivation. I was told that Feb 16th was not a good time. So I am going to be patient. Maybe it'll be best to wait til March. I fee there is a reason for everything. It's going to take me at least 2 months to achieve the 60 minutes a day. My goal is to have 4 days of 60 minutes. I am buying my some liquid amino acid and liquid vitamins this friday. I am hoping to find some chewable vitamin B complex. For some reason--vitamin B complex gives me rapid energy....Friday will be my day to get going....

    Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

New update....I have a Feb-28th Drs appointment. The appointment where I am talking bout the surgery date. The insurance has approved the surgery already. I talked to the clerk--she told me--within 2 weeks of that appointment date--I could have the surgery. I am hoping on that March date. I now know the list is very long and Dr Weaver is doing well in her practice....

:faint: Hello again....My surgeon is Dr. Weaver of St. Francis Bariactrics of Memphis, Tenn. Since the hospital is only 30 miles away--I am going to do it there. My Drs appointment is 28 Feb-07. You know to see the Dr and discuss the surgery and get the surgery date. All that is left is the nutrition class on Feb 8th. They said usually the surgery can be scheduled within 2 weeks after the 28th. I look forward to my life changing event. Mentally I feel ok and upbeat. I will gradually deal with the folks I know. Many of them think I am getting the bypass, no matter how many times I have said otherwise. It's a known fact that many feel that death looms for me on having this surgery. I say--death looms if I don't have it--sooner than it's time. I said--as of the 10th of Jan--say nothing but-"Hi and Goodbye" to everyone. Still a few have asked--when is it and so on...Even afterwards, my job will be to work hard at the gym. I am looking forward to the back pain easing up. The BP going down and my other blood tests to improve greatly. Eating salad and soup of late has not been that bad. The binge eating has slowed tremendously. I guess my only bad habit is meat---too much in fact...That has changed for me. I have informed my children--they are my new "taste testers". I am a single Parent of 2 little guys. They are so happy as if I said--we're baking cakes each day....lol.... :hungry:

:faint: I have no idea about that date. I even talked to the program director--a Nurse Practioner. I said--"would it be possible to have my surgery by Feb-16th to the end of month? She indicated that it may not happen. So I had to take a guesstimate on March. The Dietician agreed with the March time frame. I do know there is a waiting list. I was my nutrition class with 12 people who is having the surgery. I think the expensive "Bypass" will go first. The class was structured to them mainly. Only 3 of us in the class was banding. I may have to call them today. But, one issue is--they want me to have the nutritician classes. I have one more to go. The only one available is Feb 8th. Who knows what will happen. But all of this waiting--I should not complain. I should have called them in the middle of December--instead of the 20th. Many of the staff got some nice holiday time. Especially the surgeon. With Gods help and me making the phone calls today--something will move.......:clap2:

Thank you for the confidence. I got my approval letter in Jan 25-07. I went to the 1st Nutriion class. My next class is 2/8/07. Too bad I am having to wait 2 weeks. But On top of this--BC/BS says put out of the $350 program fee--I will get a coverage of only $250. Hey--who am I to complain. They are just holding that until after my surgery. That amount will go towards my protien drinks, soup and new diet that will take place. If all goes well--the latter part of Feb or early days of March-07 can be my start to a new life. I live in the NW corner in Desoto county. It's going to be a friendship changing event......L

:clap2: My goal is more like 2.5 to 3 a week. I have a plan for the first 4 weeks. I am looking at that liquid diet and staying on point with my walking. I have done 45 to 1 hour in the past each day on the treadmill. I am not going to do heavy weights for at least 4 months. My plan is to get my cardio bumped up to that 1 hour. Once I can get back to that hour....I can burn that additional 500 calories per day. Yes I will be tired, but I am crushing my vitamn B and green tea extract into my morning yogurt. Water is an important deal as I know--plus that protien drink.....This friday--I am stocking up on more protien mixes....The workout plan is not bad one...the getting up and going will be great...My gym is less than 2 miles away... I am expecting 2.5 to 3 pounds a week...I lose fast....I was in the hospital before on a slow sodium diet.....Oh Lord--I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks:faint:

:clap2: I was under the impression we could lose 2-3 pounds per week. Even if you lose 1 pound a week--that is 52 in one year. I am not here to debate with anyone. I apologized for the error I made. But let's be logical. We're all in this to make strides to prevent many tragic events or deseases that can take place with obesity. So in leaving this message--I will make the best of my banding once I get it done--I know I am going to work my behind of to get the weight off.:faint: (end of Feb or first part of March-07)

yes...32 pounds is awesome....I may have read the message wrong. I thought it said 12/18/05--when it was actually 06. Please excuse me. I am hoping that my date which looks like March 07--will show that same success

Bandiva....A year has passed and all you lost is 32 pounds? that doesn't seem like asuccess rate to me....Sounds like .5 pounds a week.

    looking forward to banding

I can say "Yes" to the choice I made. I didn't know the list for the surgery was so long. It's ok--if the Febuary date is too early--I'll be happy for the March date. I would have to say yes--also to Virginia Weaver. She is a the Surgeon at the "St Francis Hospital". You will have to pay a $350 up front if you have your insurance paying. They call it a program fee. It's ok for me to pay. I hope you get your appointment and go through the process. I can't complain...My foot is in the door now.....

    Not really--but I am sure I'll find it on the map. I am not a true Mississippian. I wasn't born here--but I've been here almost 7 years. I would say--this site gets a 9.5 out of 10.0...

    Here's to a new BEGINNING!!!

Today I was asked if I could make it to the Dieticians office by 10-am. It was 8:45am when I got the call. I road there and completed assessment. Funny thing--I had all test results in my folder--no referral letter and the past 3 months of weight check--absent. I am told that Feb-16th will not happen. Look at March for the surgery. Oh well--I started my diet of light meals today. I guess waiting waiting maybe 45 to 60 days--I will be ok. At least I know my foot is in the door. The list is just long...Lee
