Hello Again Everyone, Jennie set up a new place for us called "Maintenance Support". You can get to it by going to the bottom of this page and clicking : <LI class=next>Maintenance Support → This is great motivation to be talking with many of you again. Gaye -
Well, I just lost everything i just wrote. Here it goes again: Good to be coresponding with you all again! I'm slowly losing again since having surgery again this year to re-attach the port and tube to the band. I stopped exercising about 3 months ago, but you all have reminded me that it is a lot easier to lose weight (and feel better) with exercise. I'm going to start back tomorrow.

I would recommend Weight Watchers and journaling too. You know how much you can eat and get away with. the quicker you join WW and get down to goal weight, the sooner it will be that it will be free to keep going to meetings at goal weight or below. You don't have to set your goal as way low, just a comfortable weight. I do completely understand that this will be starting over for you and i really feel for you! -
Hi Melissa and Rebecca, So good to see that a few of us are still out there. So sorry to hear about the band slipping Melissa. I don't know if you saw my posting from the other day, but, i had to go back for surgery 3 months ago. The port tube detached from the band about a year ago and i didn't know anything was wrong except that i wasn't losing weight, wanted to eat more, and i had very, very bad cramps (the tube was poking my organs). I went to one specialist after another, beginning with my band surgeon and ending up back with him. After an x-ray finally showed the separation, i finally had surgery, now 2 fills later, i finally feel like i've reached the right level of fill. I'm losing weight again and i'm feeling really good once again. Also, my port flipped upside down after this 2nd surgery, so it hurts like crazy getting a fill. He has to manipulate it by hand to turn over (after injecting a numbing agent). Rebecca, how are you doing. Gaye

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Hi, Is there anyone still out there? I am back in business again after spending about 6-9 months with the port detached from tube or band detached from tube. I had surgery a couple of months ago to get back in order. It had been very painful at times. I was having severe cramp feelings in my lower abnomen (I'm post menopausal, so this seemed very unusual). Evidentally the tube was poking my organs. It was horrible, but luckily not constant pain. I first went back to my LB surgeon and he didn't think it was a problem with the band, then I went to a gp doctor who wasn't my own, then to my own doctor, then gastroenterologist, gynecologist, then back to my LB doc. This all happened during a very long drawn out period of time (months and months). I think it all started last summer. I gained 10 #'s over that time since there was no restriction at all. I had surgery to put a new port and tube put in, then a fill a month ago, then now, unfortunately, another complication, but one that i hope i can live with. The port turned upside down. I went in Monday for the fill, he found it could not be reached, so i had a fluro scope the next day, too much of a fill, 2cc's, bad pb's. Horribly sick, went back in the next day and luckily he was able to manipulate the port to normal and do the unfill of 1cc. Now i feel great and feel like i have a working band in again. Hooray! I would love to corespond with you all again if anyone is up for it. Best wishes to you all. Gaye -
uh oh... weird pain....is the port detached from the tube?
tulsarealtorgb replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to say this, but I had the same pain and it was indeed that the port detached from the tube. The pain was like horrible cramps (lower abnominal). I went to my surgeon, my GP, a gynecologist, and a gastroenterologist, then back to my lap band surgeon and insisted that he check it out. He found that there was no fluid in the band, ordered an x-ray and found it was detached. I was so happy that there was a reason for that horrible pain and i wasn't going to die from something serious. -

Hi Rebecca! I'm still here. I think you are doing great. I haven't had a fill in months and really do need it, but we are leaving on a cruise in a few days, then there is Thanksgiving, then Christmas. I'm waiting til January to have a fill. Gaye -

My last fill seems to be helping so much. I'm back at having lost 40 pounds total. I had gained back 5 pounds and 4 of it is gone again. It wasn't immediate on either direction, but taking it back off has taken about 3 weeks. One of my biggest mistakes was getting on a kick of eating large portions of sugar free, reduced fat ice cream. If I can kick that habit, I think I'll be heading down the scale again. -

Hi Lisa, I think there is a temporary sizer (rubber or plastic) you can buy for your rings. I need to get one because my ring spins and one of these days will fly off. Has anyone had the experience of having a fill and not really feeling a big change until about a week or so later? I'm going thru this and I love it. My fills haven't seemed to have done much in months and months, but now this one has kicked in and I can't eat more than about 3/4 cup at a time and it is way way slower going down than ever before. I think I've read something on our site about it in the past but I can't find it. Gaye -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Wendy, I went thru menopause before getting the band and I had gained about 20 pounds or so from it. The band worked great taking that back off and much more. I was taking 2 different blood pressure meds and got off of both of them within about 6 months into the band. You will love it! Best Wishes, Gaye -

Congrats Ann! You are spectacular. I need to get going again. I've been at the same weight for a very long time and could really use some tips in getting back to losing. I am walking for almost an hour every day and have been doing that for almost 2 months now. Gaye -

Dear Less, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. How very stressful. Keep up your good habits though or you'll have even more stress to deal with. Your running could be a great diversion for you. Best wishes and we will all be hoping and praying for your little girl. Gaye -
Wow, Ann and Mamadot, You are both super stars! That's exciting for both of you. My latest NSV is that I had forgotten about my old rings from many years ago. They all fit again. It's like getting all new jewelry. Gaye
