Ugh... First Sliming Experience

My surgeon won't let us have beef for, I think a year, & I bet this is why. GB -
Linda, You look wonderful. What a difference! Did you have a good time at the reunion?
-
Linda, You just reminded me, my glasses had to be resized last week too. They were falling off of my face when I looked down. My bras are too large as well. This is such a good feeling. GB

Newly Banded in Oklahoma
tulsarealtorgb replied to somechickinoklahoma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is great talking with other Okies. Blue, I think I would also worry less. We have heard from so many people with different things happening to them & mine has gone so smoothly. I have stuck to the instructions the surgeon & dietition gave me and over all have felt great. I did get very sick of the clear liquid phase though and felt pretty weak. I had to start making my own broths instead of boullion cubes. It tastes so much better if you boil a chicken, give the chicken to someone else and keep the juice for yourself. GB -
First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos
tulsarealtorgb replied to John337's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I won't be banded until July 20th either. I don't have any restriction, but I'm not usually hungry either except right before meal times. I do get hungry around 3:30 every day, but have a Protein shake, EAS Myoplex Lite, chocolate and that keeps me going until dinner. I'm able to eat fish now, so I am really taking advantage of that. After dinner, I get hungry about an hour or so later, so I have sugar free, 1% fat chocolate pudding with fat free whipped cream and that holds me for the rest of the day. Also, with all of the Water we have to drink, I don't have time to eat anything else. GB -
Newly Banded in Oklahoma
tulsarealtorgb replied to somechickinoklahoma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Chick and Blue, I am from Tulsa and was just banded on May 22nd. My favorite protein drink is EAS Myoplex lite chocolate. It is 20 grams of protein and comes in a purple drink box. You can get it at Wallmart or nutrition stores. Everyone's taste is different though, but I hope you like it. I also like the Whey Protein strawberry powder that comes in the large orange/brown container, with 21 g protein in 1 scoop. I hope we all keep in touch! GB -
What food stage are you at? What are you eating?
tulsarealtorgb replied to Carriedaway78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think my taste may be changing a bit too, Singin. I just had a scrambled egg with less than an 1/8 cup of Egg Beaters & 1 egg. It just didn't taste very good & I could only eat about 1/2 of it. We went to my dh's high school reunion last night and I had tortilla chips with artichoke spinach dip. It was okay, but not as exciting as I thought it would be though. I think crackers or toast would have been just as good and less fattening. That was my 1st outing where drinking was going on and I couldn't have any. It would have been better with a beer or two or margarita. GB -

I made the Tasty Tilapia and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight and it was so very good! Thanks again John. GB -
This 15 #'s is huge for me. I am walking with more of a spring in my step and my knees are not hurting anymore. GB

I just printed out your recipe, John. I get to have fish starting Thursday. My menu will be Tasty Tilapia with mashed potatos. I can finally cook something my husband likes too. GB -
Wow, it really shows Karrianne. Good job! GB

Sorry this response is so late, but I just noticed the question. I was banded 2 weeks ago last Friday and started back on my exercise bike on Monday. It's fine with my doc. I feel much better being back to bike riding. GB

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?
tulsarealtorgb replied to lotsabirds's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor told me to have 3 meals a day plus 3 Protein shakes in between & then after dinner. That's what I have been sticking with, except I have low fat, sf pudding with low fat whipped cream. GB -
Mine is raised as well. I took the bandage off for the 1st time today and it was the steri strips creased in the middle pushing up right along the cut line. I pulled off 2 strips by mistake from pulling up the bandage and it no longer raises at that part of the wound. GB

You may want to try making your own chicken broth. Put a chicken in a pot full of water with seasoning to your taste and boil it, then medium simmer for about 45 minutes. Skim off the fat, give the chicken to someone else, and the broth left is for you. It tastes much better fresh. You can do this with vegetables if you like too. If this makes you nausiated too, then call your nurse I think. GB

Yesterday I made omelets. I'm trying my best to start cooking again for my husband, so the omelets are made of 2 eggs and eggbeaters, pureed spinach and sauteed onions, (it's on my allowed list now), low fat cheese on my little section of the skillet/hot jack cheese on his now big boy section of the pan, salt, pepper. It was pretty good. Today I'm having lentil soup or egg salad with 3 crackers. Yum. GB -

Sara, I'm so glad you're finally feeling good. It looks like we are all off to a really good start. GB -
I feel less thirsty today thank goodness. I'm really glad to hear that we will be back to normal soon. GB

My doc says no alcoholic drinks for 6 months to a year and no caffein ever again. I've started drinking de-caf tea and I'll probably go to de-caf coffee when it gets cold again. I'm putting lemon or lime in my water and it helps so much. GB

MAY 2009 Bandsters - shout out!!!
tulsarealtorgb replied to ibelieve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi WM, A couple of things I'm looking forward to on the mushie stage is refried beans with low fat cheese & ff sour cream, also hummus. On my list, we can also have eggs, crackers, toast, kidney or black beans, canned tuna & chicken, mashed bananas & pears, pureed spinach. I am going to make a very small egg salad sandwich (less than 1/2, with ff mayo) I can't wait! Does that help with ideas? I'm from Ok also.
