  1. I agree with everyone here... Frozen package food is not really the best option for us to be eating.... BUT, we have to be realistic and understand that not everyone has the time to cook every other day, and sometimes Lean Cuisine will be your best choice! I don´t usually eat frozen food because I hate using the microwave... But after being banded I have been learning to compromise and to do what is best for my weight loss with the little time I have... (I work 13 hours/day). xoxo
  2. Hi Suzanne, I'm on my third week post op and my belly button still healing... Well, the incision its not really inside the belly button, but right in the middle of it. It looks good, my sister and I had our surgeries on th e same day, and hers its already all nice and I can really see that the scar is not big at all. Im really glad our doctor performed the single incision on us, less pain after surgery, speedy recovery and less scars!! Hope it helps! Dont worry, you'll do great!

Hi girl, you really need to get some fluids down! I know the recovery process is not easy, but the Protein and the Clear liquids will make you feel so much better, and faster... Ask your doctor for some meds for the nausea, they help a lot! Hope u feel better!!

    Feeling great...BUT

Hi Deb, I've only been banded for 2 weeks, and I can't wait to hit the gym and start losing weight! I've been reading a lot of articles about LIFTING WEIGHTS and doing CARDIO as a complete workout routine. An average person can loose around 50% more body fat if combining both weights and cardio. Try adding the famous "muscle confusion" regiment to your work outs. You can continue doing the 30-40 min of cardio 5-6 days a week, but do at least 20 -30 min of weight training BEFORE hitting the treadmill. Let me know how it goes, I'm sure you're gonna see amazing results and feel great about your weight loss! I found this article about Weight lifting (101 =D), maybe it helps: Overload: To build muscle, you need to use more resistance than your muscles are used to. This is important because the more you do, the more your body is capable of doing, so you should increase your workload to avoid plateaus. In plain language, this means you should be lifting enough weight that you can ONLY complete the desired number of reps. You should be able to finish your last rep with difficulty but also with good form. Progression. To avoid plateaus (or adaptation), you need to increase your intensity regularly. You can do this by increasing the amount of weight lifted, changing your sets/reps, changing the exercises and changing the type of resistance. You can make these changes on a weekly or monthly basis. Specificity. This principle means you should train for your goal. That means, if you want to increase your strength, your program should be designed around that goal (e.g., train with heavier weights closer to your 1 RM (1 rep max)). To lose weight, choose a variety of rep ranges to target different muscle fibers. Rest and Recovery. Rest days are just as important as workout days. It is during these rest periods that your muscles grow and change, so make sure you're not working the same muscle groups 2 days in a row. Before you get started on setting up your routine, keep a few key points in mind: Always warm up before you start lifting weights. This helps get your muscles warm and prevent injury. You can warm up with light cardio or by doing a light set of each exercise before going to heavier weights. Lift and lower your weights slowly. Don't use momentum to lift the weight. If you have to swing to get the weight up, chances are you're using too much weight. Breathe. Don't hold your breath and make sure you're using full range of motion throughout the movement. Stand up straight. Pay attention to your posture and engage your abs in every movement you're doing to keep your balance and protect your spine. Good luck!
  7. I was afraid of doing any damage to my incision, so my husband got me those big waterproof band-aids and I used it everytime I was in the shower for those long relaxing moments on my first week post op... it works, my incision was dry and I was happy =D
  8. Yay! great list! I also got the regular Myoplex, for me a no brainer, 42 gr of protein with 300 calories. I had about one a day, and everything else was sugar free... So no worries about protein intake and I could enjoy other things like Jello and popsicles. I would add sugar free Jello to the list and some gatorade or diet snaple =D ohhh, and for me, the best Crystal Light flavor is the strawberry, delicious! hope it helps! You're gonna do great!
  9. Hi everyone! im on day 4 post op and feeling a lot of pain in my single incision. I was doing some research about how well people usually recover after 4 days and I got kinda worried about the way I feel. So here we go... I had only one incision right up my belly buttom, it has a bandage on it so Im not really able to see it... The pain comes and goes, but it bothers me to the point where I need my husband to help me get in/out the bed so I dont really force myself in the incicion area. I heard people walking for hours throughout the day, but i just dont feel confortable enought to have more than 5-6 little 5 min walks around my bedroom per day. Am I freeking out??? Since i got home on tuesday (my doc have all of his patients staying overnite at the hospital) , i got up to the my bedroom ( 2nd floor) and here I am still. It hurts my belly when I try to go down the stairs so I decided that i need more time to heal. Am i being a big baby??? HELP!!!

hi there! Hope u're feeling better! Im on day 5 post op and I also had a hernia repaired... I learn that we need to drink, drink, drink, even when we dont really feel like it... ! On my day 2 post op I got really dizzy and realized that the feeling of dryness in my mouth was related to the fact that I as not drinking as much as I should. But I feel sooooo much better now, and so will you! The pain on your mid section and incision sites will get better! I noticed that after I was finally able to go to the bathroom last nite (#2, u know...) i felt like 50% of my pain was gone, but hey, I know that every person is different. Good luck!!!
