Need Inspiration..how Much Have U Lost?
d76jp67 replied to fashionstylist's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was banded 12.23.2010 Starting weight 263 currently 178 85 lost 43 to go. It has been a while since I posted and I have had a set back. My band slipped off and it made me really sick and now it will not be put back on until February. I was devastated when Dr. G told me I would have to wait until February. So I have had a normal size tummy since Nov. 20. 2012 but I still eat as though my band is fill. Dr. G also told me to begin working out so I hired a Personal Trainer and she has been working with me to make sure I don't gain. So far I am down two pounds and counting. I will be lighter by the time I weigh in on January 14, 2012. I am determined not to gain any weight in spite of the holidays. d76jp67 -

Good evening I am d76jp67 and I am looking forward to my surgery. I am having mine on 12.23.10 I know it is crazy doing this right before Christmas but I don't care the pain in my knees is worse than not being able to eat Christmas dinner. I have arthritis in my right knee and have had the left knee replaced. I don't want to replace the right one so losing weight is my only alternative. I hope the support here will be helpful once I have my surgery.

Yes your band can slip and from what my Doctor told me it just happens to a few folks. I have had my band for two years this December and have lost 88 lbs. The symptoms I had was nausea, vomiting and a slight fever. I had to be hospitalized for three days. My doctor removed all the Fluid from my band and will not refill it until February. This happened on November 20, 2012. I thought I would lose my mind without my band but since I now have to let my stomach heal before he can replace the fluid I continue to eat the small amount of food I was eating before. He also told me to begin working out so I hired a Personal Trainer to meet with twice a week to make sure I don't gain. I am determined to be smaller when I go weigh in on January 14, 2013. I am not going to ruin all the hard work I have put in at this point because I love the way I currently look and can't wait to get the rest of this weight off for good. I hope this helps. d76jp67

You are so right he is the best. He is my Dr. as well. He is so funny. I was banded on 12.23.10 and I go for my first fill on 02.04.11. I don't have a scale but my first office visit after surgery I was down 10 lbs. I What are you eating and are you exercising? -
Did not expect this much pain post op.

I had a similiar experience when I came home from the hospital. I was banded on 12.23.10 and on my first night I ended up being put back in the hospital for two extra days. My surgeon had no explaination for my dry heaves, nausea or pain. I have a very low tolorance so I was taking liquid vicodin as often as I could. Now I am much better but I am experiencing burping gas after I eat or drink. I am taking small sips like they suggested but nothing has changed. At my first doctor visit I was down 10 lbs. I don't have a scale at home or I am sure I would be on it everyday. Hope you feel better soon! -
On day 1 and 2 I of pre-op diet I had to do an all liquid diet. Now I an allowed two shakes and one frozen meal of 300 calories or less. I am mildly surprised the liquid diet was not that bad. Trust me when I say I love to eat which is why I am weighing what I do 260 and I am only 5'3. To me the end will be worth it. Don't give up it is only temporary. You will reach your goal. My surgery date is 12.23.10. I can't wait.
