    Now What Do I Do?

Thank you everyone for the input. The band did help me to lose weight that I know for a fact I couldn't have done alone. I hate that I may have to lose it. although I'm no longer losing with it, for some crazy reason I feel secure with it being there.

    Now What Do I Do?

Well guys, I wrote before that I had a Dr.'s appointment today and I think I may give this band one more try. I feel that maybe It was all my fault for not completely following all the rules. I think I ate more than I should have. but I never felt full and always hungry no matter how tight my band was. Always filled and unfilled for 3 yrs. I have been unfilled for the past 2 months now. The good news is that I only gained 1pound. The bad news is that he told me that the band has done all its going to do for me and that I have a dilated pouch. I had 80 lbs to lose and in all have only lost 45. I still have diabetes and still on meds for high B/P and cholesterol. I thought that being banded would get me in control of these things but its not going to happen. He did mention that my option now is to go without a band,be sleeved, or have pypass. I would think that by-pass may be too much since I only have 30-40 more pounds to lose. Please give me some feed back. Were any of you in this situation?

    So Discouraged!!!

YOU'RE RIGHT JUSTDOLT130, MY DOCTOR ALWAYS ASKED ME HOW MUCH COULD I STILL EAT INSTEAD OF WHAT I WAS EATING. BUT I WOULD ALWAYS TELL HIM "A LOT". THESE POSTS ARE ENCOURAGING ME TO NOT GIVE UP AND TO START OVER. AND BABIGIRL819, THEY'RE RIGHT. YOU ARE STILL JUST STARTING REALLY AND EVERYONE IS GIVING SOME GOOD ADVICE. THIS IS ADVICE THAT YOU AND I BOTH SHOULD HEED TO. C'MON, WE CAN DO THIS!! DON'T GIVE UP.
  5. I feel the same way ]eniluv, unhappy with my band results. As you said, No matter how hard I tried. I want to be sleeved but I went through a lot of anxiety to have the 1st procedure (band) and hate to do it again. I must give it a serious thought b/c I too am type 2 still. I'm happy for you and hope to join you soon.

    Exercise/pain Question

Thanks Brent, I've been back to the gym since but didn't do any ab exercises. I'm less sore and have less pain in that area, I still think that the pain has a connection with the Band. It's a different type of muscle pain (hard to discribe). I have an appt. tomorrow and hopefully he will order some tests. Thanks for the encouragement.

    Exercise/pain Question

I am nearly 3 yrs out and I still get that pain every time I start exercising. sometmes mine would last a week and sometimes it would 3 weeks. Dr. says it's a sensitive muscle there that I'm pulling. I went to the gym 3 days last week, and can hardly pull up from the table W/O pain this week-end. You're right, it hurts to inhale.

    Choking In My Sleep

I've been there as well, but although I was too tight, I still didn't lose a pound(strange). I had to stop eating at least 4 hours before bedtime and being diabetic it was a very hardthing for me to do. Night reflux was awful. I have since had 5cc's removed and I'm feeling so much better because I also waited too long. I need to make a decision quick about adding fluid back in. I may have to have it taken out

Any other banders in 20's-30's in Az

I am soooo glad to see that others are down for it. I posted the same question on another site for SC with no one interested. At least they never answered back. This is wonderful. I wish you guys well. I would gladly do it If I wasn't so far away. Stay in touch with one another good or bad. Thats what keeps you motivated. I haven't told anyone about my band and I believe that a lot others haven't either. But thats OK, No one has to know except bandsters if thats what you want.

    Why Did Dr. Rowitz Leave?

THATS COOL, I wasn't sure where you were going with that remark. No Problem!
  11. I was a patient of Dr. Rowitz at Anmed. I went to see him one day with an appt. and he told me that he was leaving. I had no idea that he was going to leave nor did I know why he was leaving. Does anyone have an idea as to why?

    Why Did Dr. Rowitz Leave?

Well, He said that he was going back to Illinois so I just left it at that. I didn't want him to be placed in an awkward situation or feel that I was prying into his business. I'm just curious as to why now? and since he left so suddenly, maybe someone else heard something that I hadn't heard. This wasn't meant to offend anyone." JUST ASKING"

    Pain

Thanks much, I'm not having the pain at this time. As I said before, it comes and goes. I have an appt. in 1 week and hopefully its nothing too serious. I've read some negative things about my old Dr. since he has left that I am really afraid of whats coming next after seeing this new one.

    Pain At Night

I can relate to the pain at night when laying down on that side. mine feels as if the stomach fat maybe caught between the band, stomach, and ribs(weird) I have to toss and squirm a while to get comfortable and then be awakened by caughing and reflux. reflux is in the past now, but I still hurt in that area when exercising. The Dr. said

    It's Out!!

I had 5 cc removed 4 days ago and feeling a lot better after going to bed (reflux). I have 40 more lbs to lose and have actually lost 2lbs since the unfill. I'm going to try to keep my band and lose the weight with my already given tool. This band has helped me to lose nearly 50lbs and now it's time for me to help it with the last 40. This positive attitude is all coming from an unfill.

    Night Reflux

Thanks guys, I am glad and I'm feeling better already. Slept wonderfully the past couple of nights without reflux or being propped up. my upper belly is slowly going down some and I'm burping out air. what a relief!

    Night Reflux

After getting an unfill 6 mos. ago, My Dr. insisted that I get a small fill 6 weeks after. Againgst my better judement I did what I was told and again, the caughing started, the reflux was bad, and I had cricks in my neck due to being propped too high on pillows. I tried to deal with it for a couple of months before going back for unfill again. My Dr. said that he believed that I am where I needed to be and wouldn't give me an unfill. He said that he was soon leaving and maybe the new surgeon would :-(. Anyway, after his departure 6 weeks later I went back and had 5cc removed. Feeling much better now and may have to be converted :-(

    Any Band Conversions

    Thanks Guys, This makes sence
  21. Hello bandsters, I've been posting for a while now about not losing. banded nearly 3 yrs in August. I still have at least 45 more pounds to lose. I would like to know if there are any bandsters that have converted from the band to either the sleeve or gastric bypass. This is the option that my health care is asking of me. I really want to keep my band but if it's not working for me, and by me being diabetic, they want to remove the band and go with one of the other options. Let me know if you have converted and how that is working for you. I have 2 weeks to think about it!!

    Pain

Yes I'm having this pain now. You actually posted what I was getting ready to post..LOL Every 2-3 months I have this pain in that area and it sometimes worsen when I take deep breaths. I too have a lot of gas and was wondering if I should monitor what I eat more carefully. My Dr.says its a muscle strain due to that being a sensitive area near the port and it can be easily aggravated. After sitting, I have to slowly stand up straight and get that stiff cramp/pain in tact before walking. After 1-2 weeks it goes away. I worry about erosion and a slippage also. Hopefully I can have some tests run soon.

    Ready To Give Up.....

4 weeks post liqiuds here also. one of the toughest things I had to do. as everyone say, Hang in there because YOu KNOW WHAT? that was when I lost the most of my weight. As much as I hate to think about it, I may have to start anew(liqiuds again) pending on what Im told to do on my next visit. You wouldn't want to have to do it again.
  24. Doing a liquid diet? Have you been banded yet?
