The nutritionist commented on my food log that orange juice will not be well tolerated after surgery. Is this true. I currently drink my protein with 4 oz oj, 2oz water. How well did you tolerate orange juice, and how soon were you allowed to drink it?

Ok. So went to my OB yesterday, thought I was having a negative reaction to birth control pills. Dr. now thinks I have PMDD, and wants to start me on an antidepressant. I've never been on one before, but my friend was, and she gained weight like crazy. I'm wondering how they'll be with the sleeve, and if there's one that won't cause me to gain weight? Thanks

Just wondering how much everyone's girls shrank. I'm currently a 38DD, and hoping to at least stay a full C, like I was when I was skinny. Wondering how everyone's results were. Thanks.

Curious. Post Vsg What Gender Was Your Baby?
sarahh1828 posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I've been reading up on the supposed girl or boy diet for conception. The girl diet seemed similar to how most of us eat. A diet low in red meat, high in calcium, low in carbs, high in protein.... So I was wondering...how many of you had girls? How many had boys? Thanks Sarah -
When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)
sarahh1828 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello. I have been sleeved for 4 months. I have lost 70lbs. and have lost 10 sizes(22 to a tight 12!). I need some motivation. I have not lost a lb. since Christmas. I have lost a size. I would just like to see that number on the scale go down. I have taken a good look at what I was eating, and adjusted (about 2 weeks ago) still no numbers lost. I just need to borrow someone else's positive energy right now, because I'm afraid that this is where my body wants to stay. -

I Am Almost Four Months Out And Down 8 Sizes!
sarahh1828 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love my sleeve! I was sleeved September 17,2001. I was a size 22 the day of surgery, and 251lbs. Now, almost 4 months post-sleeve I weigh 188, and am a regular(not wide) size 14. I am so happy that I did this for myself. My energy has skyrocketed, my sex life is better(wasn't bad before, but definately better), I can chase my son at the park and not get winded. I love this, and the chance it has given me at a new life. I have had no complications, and can eat pretty much anything, just in much smaller amounts than before. -

The new thinking is that an acidic environment inside favors girls, and will kill off the Y sperm. I don't know if it's true, and the studies they have conducted don't contain enough data for me, which is why I was curious. lol. I mean the majority of us have been on the "girl diet" unknowingly. So if the majority of post-VSG patients conceived girls, then I might take this a little more seriously. -
I Am Almost Four Months Out And Down 8 Sizes!
sarahh1828 replied to sarahh1828's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I never imagined the day that I got sleeved that this would really work for me, I thought that I would be the one person that would fail my surgery. I am so proud of my success. My only advice would be to find a good protein that you can handle, and stick to it. I slacked off on my protein for a few weeks, and have been at a stall because of it(still getting in 70grams of protein, but I lose better if I get 80). Also, don't forget to enjoy the journey. -

Just ignore MFP. It does the same to me, it makes me laugh every timme. I'm around 2 months out, and am barely getting in 700 calories, and that's if I drink two protein shakes. Have you tried cauliflower lately? Sounds yummy and not green. lol. Don't know if you can find any right now. Maybe a squash?

Help!! Vacation after VSG may be bad idea? Advice?
sarahh1828 replied to Misstxdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As suggested I would bring some type of protein powder with you. Don't drink the tap water, only drink water labels you recognise. I got food poisoning last time I went to Thailand. lol. I would also suggest beef jerky or nuts(you can buy them there no problem) to bring with you when you are on outings. I don't know about everyone else, but my tummy feels empty every 2.5-3hrs, and having some small quick protein source with me helps(I tend to get pissy when hungry). -

I'm definately interested in a group meetup at Disneyland!! If we can get enough people together we might even qualify for group discounts:) Don't know the exact numbers, but if we get down to the nitty gritty, I could bring my extended family. Altogether if my extended family comes we would have 20 people to add. I would love to go this fall.

I haven't taken any full body shots yet, I don't think I will until I'm under 200. But here's my sexy victorian era vampire costume picture:) I love this thread!!

How soon after surgery can you ride again?
sarahh1828 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't ride my own bike yet, I'm currently a passenger on my husbands Harley Roadking. But I enjoy riding a lot, and was wondering how soon I'll be able to go again. My birthday is next month, I was going to take my rider's safety course, and get a bike then, is that too soon? I was sleeved on the 7th, and am looking to ride alone on October 28th. I would love to go for a ride again soon, but don't when when it is safe. Thanks Sarah -

When will i notice?
sarahh1828 replied to DallasMomofTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband noticed before I did. I am now 7 days out, and he exclaimed that I'm getting skinny(I'm not, but he's a freaking sweetheart), and made me try on a pair of jeans that were a size too small before surgery. They fit well. I was freaking excited!! But I still can't see a loss on myself at 30 pounds down. Keep going honey, you'll feel it soon. Sarah -
Ok. So I got ahold of a rep. at Disneyland, they said $67 Dollars per person, and $15 for parking if we have a group of 20 or more. I'm not sure if this is much of a discount, as I don't go to Disneyland that often. Well let me know what ya'll think. These are only the 2011 prices, and good mostly weekdays, but they will be sending me the 2012 prices in November.

The Sleeve That Almost Wasn't...Was!
sarahh1828 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, I was sleeved last Thursday. My tummy and sleevey have been at odds pretty much since. The only thing sleevey likes is popsicles, Water, and Jello. Any suggestions for that? I'm supposed to be on full liquids and have no idea what to try to introduce sleevey to. Anyway, glad I took the plunge, it has already inspired the hubby to throw out all junk food and start going to the gym, so my whole family will be getting healthy with me YAY!! I do have one small question, I have been on an anti nausea med that has caused my vision to blur, has anyone else experienced this? I have to wear my reading glasses all the time now to see anything clearly. Thanks. Oh, oh, oh, I have already gone from 251 to 226. YAY!! -
tubes and drains and catheters OH MY &^%$
sarahh1828 replied to geminhi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have only had one surgery, and it was quite different from this type of surgery, but while on my clinical rotation for LVN school, we got to sit in on quite a few surgeries, so I will explain what happened to them. When you go in the room pre-op usually you will be allowed to speak to the dr. or the anesthesiologist for a moment, they should place an I.V. and may start you on I.V. fluids. Then they will wheel you into the operating room. After that the anesthesiologist will give you the night night drugs and they will make sure you are in lala land before they proceed. At that point they will intubate you and usually at that time a nurse will put in the catheter if you don't have one in already. Then they do the procedure. After when they are ready for you to wake up, they will give you either more fluids, and stop the night night drugs, or they will give you something to wake you. They will usually extubate you at this time, or in recovery. You go to recovery, where you are closely monitored by a nurse until usually an hour after surgery. If you are awake and your vitals are stable an hour to an hour and a half after surgery they will usually take you into your own room. Some doctors will remoe catheter during surgery, others will wait until you make it back to your own room. Catheters are not supposed to be painful, but they can sometimes be uncomfortable( I know they are for me). The removal of a catheter is painless. Drainage tubes are put in if the dr. thinks they are necessary(they are meant to prevent infection by allowing excess fluids or any drainage to leave the body through this sterile tube), and if put in will remain in usually for 7-10 days. They are supposed to be painless, but I've heard from patients that they are very annoying. You should have an I.V. for your whole hospital stay to prevent dehydration, since you aren't able to drink too much after. If you have any more questions feel free to pm me. If this is too much, I'm sorry. I'm a little odd, but it has been comforting me to think of all of the procedures I have seen and what exactly happened so there won't be any surprises. Sorry for the novel Sarah -
I need to start giving my hubby "black eyes" lol. We've only been married for 4 years, but I never get that stuff anymore:( Anyways, Irene did you get silicone or saline implants? Was this surgery better or worse than getting your sleeve done (as far as pain after)?
