Need a good lie for nosy people
thejaketucker replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Friends and family knew weeks before I got it done. I ran into this while tailgating at the pinstripe bowl, a friend of a friend asked why I cant drink beer and I told him I just got surgery and he had to ask why. So I told him and he was helpful, he had a coowork who got a similar surgery. But the person at the bank asked me and I just said that I had abdominal surgery. I wonder if you just said "abdominal surgery" if anyone would have the cajones to ask if it was lapband. I dont think so becaues they would never risk being wrong. So dont lie to people, but its no big deal if they find out... your improving your life ! -
I would order chili or egg salad and eat it slow. I am on the pureed stage too and I find the key is to pace myslef.

whats your favorite mushie food?
thejaketucker posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the mushie stage of my diet. I am only eating about 2 meals plus protien shakes so I try to only eat stuff I like. I thought I would like mashed potatoes but I found the flake kind makes me feel queezy. I was wondering what other people actually like on the mushie stage. My top 3 are 1. Ricotta w/ spagetti sauce and mozz 2. Egg salad (Just mushie hard boiled egg, s+p and mayo) 3. Refried beans w. sour cream and mexican red sauce (no chunks) -
I feel so cheated.

Maby I was wrong. I hope you can do something in the military. -
I am about 10 days out and i feel the same way, no real "hunger" but my gut grumbles alot. I eat only soft stuff like ricotta cheese and sauce w/ mozz on top (my favorite so far). The craziest thing so far happened last night, I woke up from a dream were i was dreaming of eating a rueben sandwich. It was wierd that im not really hungry but i miss all the bad food like fries and french dip sandwiches. When i am at a healthy weight I will be happy but now i miss that junk.

It might preclude you from combat training but that does not mean you cant join the service. You can try for domestic or technical type jobs with the military. -
I had my surgery by Dr p on 12/15/10 at 1015 am(my 26th birthday) . That is too funny. I love the staff there, no major problems

Dr. Vishnudas Panemanglore - Dr P
thejaketucker replied to disneymom1978's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Your not going to belive this but I had surgery by Dr. Panamanglore (spelling?) on December 15th 2010 on my 26th birthday. I love the staff there too, the nurses in post op were great for me and the whole team seems very seasoned and experienced. Im glad they made me lose 10 percent before surgery but it was hard. Kim ( his coordinator) runs a great support group for us lapbanders at the mclellan street hospital. I went to 2 of them before surgey and it helped alot. This site has been a ton of help for me and my little questions. I hope it all keeps going well at the ellis bariatric program. -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
thejaketucker replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate my first real thing since my surgery on the 15th . I am starting my soft diet today and i was hungry so went to taco bell and got refried beans with a side of sour cream and a side of nacho cheese sauce and some mild sauce. It was soo good and it made me feel normal again, besides protien shakes and juice thats all i had today so im not worried about the fat im just recomending it as something that will stay down well for me. -
i like teriaki tuna 1 can tuna squirt of ketchup 3 splashes of soy sauce pinch of sugar pinch of powdered ginger salt and pepper mix it up/ grind it sound wierd but it I love it

I have my surgery on the 15th and I have been on medifast for about 8 weeks now. I am on a 2 day liquid before a 1 day clear liquid diet before the surgery. I looked on this site a little and havent seen anyone who was required to lose 10 perecent (over 30 pounds for me) before the surgery, I had to get weighed in every week by a nurse. Just wondering if anyone else had such an extensive weight loss program. The doctor team im going to does over 800 surgeries a year and it will be laproscopic so im sure they know what they are doing but I am feeling like this is a little much. I am a 25 yr old male and in "very good health for my weight" Did anyone else have a similar pre op program?

My pre op diet
thejaketucker replied to thejaketucker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im glad im not the only one who had to lose 10 percent. I did one of those biggest loser things and i ate a ton of chinese food the week before so i would retain water. The office i went to would hassle me if i did not lose like 3 to 4 pounds a week. between the weigh ins and all the other times i had to go there they were on my butt the whole time. Im happy they were on me so much becaues if they were not I might not have lost much before my surgery (in 2 days!!!!)
