kjangraw replied to cindyg1212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put a heading pad around my neck, mainly for my shoulders and that was helpful. -
Not losing weight since banding
kjangraw replied to calunda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have already blown through 4 sizes smaller then when I had surgery, October 22, but the scale says 8 pounds only. I dont get it but I dont care either. Anything less than when I started is fine with me. I think your doing great. Good luck -
I did buy a heating pad today and will use it tonight. All I have to say is watch out for anyone standing 10 feet in front or back of me because I will be taking off like a rocket. If thats my only worry, Im good to go. Thanks Lanie.

Well congrats to you. I was banded on Monday so I know your pain, literally. My stomach just feels like the day after you worked out for the first time in a long time. Other than that I feel great. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

making a bad mistake
kjangraw replied to maddog2005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi maddog This is one of the questions, I myself who loves to eat, cannot answer. I had to loose 10 pounds before I would be concidered for the surgery and I went home and ate like a gallon of ice cream. What the hell is wrong with me? Not only did I not loose the weight but I gained more and it kept getting putting off. I find out my surgery date tomorrow but loosing those 10 pounds was a killer. Its all mental, I dont know why we do those things. I think you might be testing yourself to see what you can get away with as a new bandster, just my thought. You may be seeing exactly what you CAN eat. For the sake of all your hard work getting to this point, I would have a long talk with yourself and get your head straight. I feel your pain. Kerry -
I find out my surgery date August 22nd, cant help out much with the complications after banding at this point. Best wishes to you though.

There is a huge amount of patience involved. However, I fully understood this would be a long process. Im just glad its all paid off and its almost over.

Hello again I started posting back in early 07 but have been just lerking ever since. Within the past 7 months I have now completed everything including 3 manditory seminars and all 500 medical tests required by the bariatric program and my insurance company. The manditory seminars are only held once a month and some of the tests required took 8 to 10 weeks to get an appointment. I do live in Cowtown NH which might indicate why its taking so long but I finally have an appointment with the surgeon on Aug 22 who then gives me a surgery date 8 weeks out. I am excited to be back with some good news and look forward to participating in the forum going forward.

Ok, Im sure Ive read threads on this same subject but I am just at my witts end. So, Ive gone through the process and the testing and my next step will be with the surgeon. However, I cant loose 10 pounds. I mean, I can, I just dont apply myself. Please, words of wisdom. I know I can, I just dont.
-
Its required and I certainly understand that I need to loose the weight, its just the kick start thing. I dont understand why I just cant focus. I think I need to slow down some things in my personal life, I work full time and go to school full time nights, plus have a family. Im think Im forgetting about me.

I definatly know I can do it, which is why its so painful WHY I JUST DONT DO IT. I know you all can relate to me when I say this.....You know that feeling you get when you want to loose weight, you just wake up one day and do it......You start to loose, feel good, self esteem goes way up, etc.......Ive done that before and know how awesome that feels. Every time I loose over 50 pounds, I totally have it in my head that I will never be fat again, and why I go back to gaining it again, I will never know. I will be the first to say that I truly beleive that obesity is a disease like alcoholism or drug abuse. IT SUCKS... I truly appreciate the C&C, keep it coming.....

Good for you. Ive had every possible test and have done everything they have asked and still not heard from Manchester to meet the surgeon. Im waiting patiently. I started in December and have met all requirements. I guess they are waiting on the sleep apnea test results. Its been 5 months and I dont want to push and be a pain. When you guys went to Portsmouth, how long was your wait?
-
Surprisingly it wasnt as full as it has been. A newbie asked if they planned on bringing on any other surgeons because there were so many people and Dr, Gould said no, he doesnt have enough patients to fill up his slots. Just because the room was full didnt mean that everyone was going to follow through, insurance wont pay, etc......I guess that was promising. I still have to do the sleep apnea test which I cant have done until April 17th. So its been about 4 months already but getting closer. Postage is nothing, I wouldnt worry about it. Just a small setback. LOL.

Sleep Apnea Article - Ailment Tied to Heart Risk
kjangraw replied to marjon9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont have sleep apnea but have to have one done before I can be concidered for WLS because on my entrance papers I said I grind my teeth in my sleep, I have TMJ. I also have had braces on for 2 years to fix the problem in order to rule out jaw surgery. Anyone ever hear of having to have one done because of TMJ? Apparantely its because I said I grind my teeth and wake up with headaches. -
Hello, Im in NH too.....Do you mind if I ask what insurance, Anthem possibly, and which facility you went to?

Hello, For my sociology class that I am currently taking, I have an assignement to which I have to interview people about influences in their life. For this week’s discussion, I want you talk to four people (two men and two women). Ask them to think real hard about who were the five most "powerful" agents of socialization that changed how they developed as an individual. Get them to reflect on the idea of how their life would have been different had they not interacted with each of these five individuals Im hoping I can get some volunteers to help out but I noticed with my own answers, as I was writing my answers, it really got me thinking. If you dont feel comfortable posting them for everyone to see, you can certainly email them to me as well. I think this in general would be a great topic of converstation.

I ordered a few samples from unjury.com as well. I tried the strawberry sorbert, chocolate and vanilla. Although I am a chocolate fan, I loved the vanilla. I just made my second order. I had a shake in the am, around 7am and was totally satisfied until noon time. A+ They also offer tasteless protein powder to add to different things.

Hello Im in Nashua, just had my first seminar a few weeks and ago and have everything else rolling. I am going to Dartmouth Hitchcock in Manchester and you have to go to 3 informational meetings before they give you a surgery date. They only have informational meetings once a month but thats enough time to get all the other stuff done.
