  1. My problem wasn't being hungry after surgery... it was the week before surgery. I was only allowed "clear" liquids for 8 days before my surgery.... to me............ that was hardest part (Xmas was right in the middle of that!!!). Once I had the surgery... I was gratefully relieved that I WASN'T hungry. It's been over 2 months since my surgery... and really only started feeling hungry a couple of weeks ago. I'm still waiting for my first fill.... which, I am hoping is soon. I'm sure you'll do fine.... just keep focused on how well you're going to do and how GREAT you're going to feel and look!!
  2. I had some trouble with my incisions too. Mine was due to an allergic reaction to the bandages. It was pretty nasty. I still have one that is still in the healing process... but the others are all healed. I do think that picking up a 2 year old might cause some of your problems. Just be sure to be careful with the baby. I'm sure you'll be fine, but if you happen to have a F/U apt with your Dr., be sure to let him know.
  3. I just started reading WHY WE GET FAT by Gary Taubes. Anyone else reading it? Feedback? So far, it's sorta making sense to me.

    A new NSV!

At work today, someone noticed that my face looks so much thinner... and that my I looked narrower walking down the hall. She had to do a double take before she realized it was me. Yeah!!! Almost a 1/3 toward my goal... Yeah for all of us!!!!

    Anyone been told this?

Been told.... drink BEFORE I eat is OK. NO drinking while I'm eating.... and then wait an hour or so before taking more to drink. Reason = the liquid thins out the food... and like mentioned above... you want the pouch to stay FULL as long as possible.
  7. Very inspirational!!! Thank you!

**No first fill for half of a year!!!

hmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder if we have the same Dr. I was banded on 12/27. Had a visit with him on 2/12 and I thought I would be getting my first fill. He said...so long as I'm losing 1 - 2 pounds a week... he won't do a fill. I need to go 3 weeks without losing any weight before he'll consider it. I think it might be a good thing..... trying to keep my eating habits in check and to make sure I make good choices. I'm down 32 pounds so far... but getting a little nervous because I'm starting to get hungry....and I'm afraid I'll over do it.

    Banded on Dec 29th, 2010

I'm glad to see this post. I lost 32 pounds; the bulk of it was lost in January The last 4 weeks or so, it's only been the 1 - 2 pound range per week. I haven't even had a fill yet. Dr. says...so long as I'm losing.... = NO fill and that I'm doing GREAT. I was feeling a little frustrated and was hoping to lose more. So... looking at all of your posts.... I guess I am doing pretty good. :-) Since I don't have a fill, I'm really starting to feel hungry and I'm scared that I'm going to lose "control"!!

    weight loss

I'm keeping my calorie intake between 800 - 1,000 per day and get on the treadmill 3 - 4 times week or do my Leslie Sansone 3 mile walking DVD. I was banded on 12/27/10 and have had NO fills yet. I'm down 32 pounds. My doc says I'm doing great and no fills while I'm still losing 1 - 2 pounds week. I'm honestly a little worried because I'm starting to feel like I could be eating more than I am and feel like it's all will power now... hmmmmmmmmmmm

    So glad

I totally agree! This board has helped me a lot!! It's wonderful to know we don't have to do this journey alone.
  12. I'm sorta finding myself in the same place. I had a dr. apt last week and I was hoping that I was going to get my first fill since I'm now finding that I get hungry. I was banded on 12/27/10. The dr. is proud of my progress so far and said that since I am still losing, he won't do the fill. So long as I'm losing 1 - 2 pounds per week..... he says I'm doing great! I just wish the process was a bit faster. He said that he will only do the fill when I've gone 3 weeks without losing any weight. I guess I understand his reasoning... but this is a little harder than I thought. I too am able to eat just about anything... and need some very strong will power to get through some days. But then................... I guess that's what this is all about.... learning new and healthy eating behavior. This is a life long journey.
  13. While sitting at my desk this morning... I felt very uncomfortable ~ like my pants and panties were getting all tangled up. I was in such a rush this morning... I just got dressed fast and left for work. When I went to the ladies room, I realized my panties are WAY TOO big! Silly....but that felt GREAT... I need to go shopping for smaller panties tomorrow!!

    BRA SIZE

I had a breast reduction in 2004. It was the BEST thing I ever did. I went from a 46DDD to a 38C. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get smaller than a 34C when I reach my goal weight. I'm only 5'2" .... so I'm happy being smaller. I think being too big at my height, can make me look dumpy. Anyway... I guess if I had to, I can always buy a bra with extra padding. Although I had my breast reduction years ago.... I would definitely wait until you reach your goal to get the reduction/lift.

    First Fill

I was also banded on Dec. 27th and thought I was having my first fill yesterday. Well I found out that my insurance doesn't cover the fill until 90 days after surgery. (I'm only half way there). That scared me a little because now I'm feeling that I definitely could eat more. So far I've lost 30 pounds. My Dr. is VERY pleased with my results and told me NO fill ~ even if the insurance WAS going to cover it. He said I should keep up my "good" habits and continue doing what I'm doing. He said I should be losing between 1 - 2 pounds per week and if 3 weeks go by and I've not lost any weight, he'll then do the fill. Right now I'm eating between 800 - 1,000 calories a day (very LOW carbs) and I'm on the treadmill at least 4 times per week. Dr. said that I should continue to see results keeping up this routine. .... and it's a new behavioral pattern I'm developing and to keep up the good work. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm I felt really happy and proud leaving his office...but I am a little nervous that I'll blow it by eating more than I should.
  16. Spoke with my Dr.'s office today to confirm my apt for tomorrow. I was banded on 12/27. They advised me that I have to wait 90 days from the date of my surgery to get my first fill for the insurance to cover the cost. WOW... wasn't really expecting that! I'm only 45 days out.... and will have to go another 45 before I can consider the fill. Anyone have this situation? I'm already starting to feel hungry... so I'm going to have to be VERY careful for a month and a half. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ~ I'm a bit scared I'll fail.
  17. I'm doing about 800 - 1,000 calories per day. However, I'm starting to notice that I could probably do a LOT more. I'm scheduled for my first fill this Saturday. Also, I'm trying to get in about 30 - 40 minutes on the treadmill 3 -4 times per week. I'm gonna try to get more exercise in this coming week.
  18. had to be a typo!!!! geeeeeeeeee I would gain 4 pounds a weeks eating like that!!
  19. I have my first fill this Saturday. What's on the menu? Do I have to go back to liquids or very soft mushies?? Just wondering..... I'm a little nervous about getting the fill. What's your fill stories?????

    Android apps??

I just downloaded the Calorie Counter App...... look like a great one! ... I'm starting to use it today. I was looking for something like this. THANK YOU for the suggestion!!!
  21. I've been noticing that I have an appetite in the evenings.... and this past week I haven't lost any weight. I'm schedule to see my Dr. on 2/12. I think I'm ready for my first fill. It really surprises me though.... I'm now only eating about 800 to 1,000 calories a day... yet I still don't lose weight??? I've started walking about 3 - 4 times a week. I wonder if I'm building muscle and that is out weighing my fat loss ... ?? I hope the needle doesn't hurt when I get the fill... I've seen other post info about fills and they all seems to say that it doesn't hurt.....but I'm still nervous!!
  22. I'm hoping to get my lap band next month. Right now I'm very secretive about telling anyone. The only one who knows is my husband. I guess I'm feeling that this is "cheating"... and people will think negtively about it. Anyone else feel or felt the same way?? I'm pretty nervous abou the whole thing and how I will explain it to everyone. I'm just thinking that I'm going to just them the I'm under a very strict diet with my doctor. Anyone going through any of these feelings??

when did your appetite come back?

I'm 4 weeks out... and now I'm starting to feel hungry. I do pretty good during the day...but at dinner, I'm really starting to notice I'm able to eat more than I expected. I haven't had a fill yet... I suppose feeling hungry is a sign it's probably time for that fill. I don't have an apt yet ... so maybe I should be calling my Dr. soon and check in with him.
  24. I'm 4 weeks out from my surgery (Dec. 27th). I noticed this weekend that I'm really starting to get an appetite. I was at a conference this weekend and wasn't allowed to bring in food. soooo looking for the most "mushie" food I could find, I found myself eating 3/4 of a tuna sandwich. I guess from reading everyone's posts here, I was surprised that I was able to eat the bread. I have lost only a few ounces this week . I was very spoiled by losing so much so fast.. now I seem to be slowing down. I also started doing some serious walking this last week. I don't know if I'm gaining muscle and it's out-weighing the fat loss, (or what)... ?? Does this mean I'm soon ready for a fill soon? I'm getting nervous that I'll hit a plateau. Other than my worrying about feeling hungry and not losing .... I'm feeling GREAT!!! How are you all doing/did at 4 weeks out???

NSV and it is only January!!

WOW... SOOOOOOOOO GREAT!!!! You're gonna have to go shopping for sure before the summer... cause those suites will be "swimming" on you then. I'm not that brave yet ~ not trying on my bathing suite for another couple of months.
