Hello! I wanted to see if anyone was doing a pre-op diet of Optifast. If so, I have a bunch left over. I had my surgery on December 2nd and before that I was incredibly sick and could not use all of the Optifast like I should have. If anyone is interested, please send me a message. I paid $99.00 for the supply and did not want to throw it away if someone could use it!

I was sore and tired for about 3 days after surgery. I was pretty much exactly the same way you described. I didn't feel like drinking or doing much of anything. It is important to hydrate yourself though!! When I got on full liquids I tried sipping some broth and hot tea. Those both were helpful for me. I know it's difficult but it will make you feel better once you have something in your stomach. I hope you get to feeling better soon!! I used the prescription pain medicine for about 4 days which helped but that also can sometimes make your stomach upset.

Ok, so I have been following my post op diet completely. Today, however, I fell off the bandwagon. I know that we must give in to our cravings every now and again or we will be miserable. I am just feeling low right now due to my poor judgment. I am on the pureed stage of my diet and today I ate 2 eggs for Breakfast and did not eat any lunch (mind you it was now 3pm). I had been running all afternoon and did not pack my chicken salad that I prepared last night. I ended up stopping at Starbucks and having a Carmel Frappucino. I am just annoyed with myself right now. I also drank out of a straw...which I didn't even think about until after I was done. Was anyone else told not to drink out of a straw?? I just was hoping someone had some words of encouragement. Just feeling low!

Bored with Food!!
HoosierGal replied to SouthFloridaDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also bored with food (I am still on the pureed stage). I am tired of chicken salad and eggs!! Ugh! I found an AWESOME blog that lists so many recipes I'm dying to try once I get on solid foods. I highly recommend checking out eatingwelllivingthin.wordpress.com. The blog has recipes listed on the right hand side and she also takes phenomenal pictures of her food...which makes it look all the better! She has had WLS and all of her recipes are catered for people who have had WLS but without sacrificing any of the taste :-) Please check it out and let me know what you think! -

I was also diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I was just recently banded (12/2/10) and have started seeing good results but I am also still on a full liquid diet. I know it gets incredibly discouraging to feel like you are doing all of the right things and still not losing weight. I have struggled with that practically my whole life! I am hoping that my band helps my weight come off because I know that with PCOS and this extra weight that my hormones are all over the place. I actually had one doctor spend about 15 minutes telling me just how screwed up my body was currently due to my weight and PCOS!!! I wish you all the best of luck and if you ever need support from someone that is going through a similar situation, please don't hesitate to contact me :-) -
So, before surgery I enjoyed eating sushi. We would go quite often. Now that I have had surgery, I am curious if anyone eats it post op? The only thing I'm concerned about with sushi is the sticky rice. If anyone has tried it, please let me know how it went! Thanks!

How long must I be on liquids??????
HoosierGal replied to rktaurus71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! My doc advised that I be on a full liquid diet (they allow yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, grits) for 2 weeks post op. I recommend drinking your protein shakes and if you can, adding some of the things I mentioned above. I think you should probably contact your doc first though to make sure they are ok with that. I had my surgery on December 2nd and I haven't really been hungry on this diet. Are you getting 3 meals and 3 snacks a day? That is what they advised me to do. Also, I have weird rumblings in my stomach that almost feel like hunger pains but I heard it's just normal after surgery. Are you having that? -

I was banded on 12/2/10 and since then I have lost 12 pounds! I am so anxious to reach my goal :-) -
Congratulations on the weight loss! I was also banded on 12/2/10. It sounds like you are doing great! I feel pretty good, just trouble sleeping at night. It is uncomfortable for me to lay down. I am on the full liquid diet until Dec. 20th and I will be so excited to start eating pureed foods! The Protein shakes do keep me full but I am SOO ready to chew something. Best of luck to you! Keep in touch.

Greetings! I was banded on 12/2/2010. I am so glad I found this forum! I am looking forward to meeting many new, supportive friends. Right now I am nervous, scared, and anxious. I am so excited to begin this next chapter of my life! My surgeon was Dr. Burry and he was incredible. I have my first fill appointment scheduled for 1/6/2011. My weight before surgery was 284 and I am now down to 272! I decided to have the lap-band to of course lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. I also did this because I have a 3 yr. old daughter and want to be active with her. I look forward to meeting you all and sharing this journey together!

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
HoosierGal replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! I was banded on Dec. 2nd. I had my first follow-up visit on Dec. 8th and have lost 12.1 pounds thus far. I am currently on the full liquid diet. I am feeling pretty good. It sounds like everyone else is doing good as well so that is awesome! I am also having difficulty sleeping. Has anyone found anything that eases the discomfort? I just can't seem to get comfortable and don't sleep but a few hours at a time. That has started catching up with me. I'm kinda starting to drag during the day. I look forward to talking more with everyone! I hope to find a lot of answers to my questions and get support.
