my mom has just seen too many dateline and 20/20 shows of bad care in mexico so shes standing her ground.
-
my mom has put her foot down that i will not be going to mexico. and i respect her wishes. i would never go against her. however my doctor said self pay is $13K and that includes like 3 or 4 fills. so lets just say its an 8% interest rate... my calculations at 5 years.. is $235 a month. thats another car payment. like i've said i'm making just enough to pay my bills. after getting divorced in early 2006 and being left with every single bill i'm really struggling. i was depending on insurance approval.

yeah as a matter of fact a lot of policies are starting to do so. when she worked at petsmart it was allowed and my aunt works for sonics corporate headquarters and they just added it to their policy so more and more are allowing it.

at this point no.... i budgeted last night and there is just no room to budge right now. i'm needing to refiance my house because i found out my mortgage is on an adjustable rate is about to adjust on july 1st so i have to get out of it. when i refinance.. i hope to take some extra money out because i am in desperate need of a new heat and air unit since mine is a 1970's model and my roof needs replaced, my dad doesn't think it will last thru another oklahoma storm season..which just started in march!

just an update.. my g/f's insurance policy does not allow same sex partners to be covered! so again i've been crushed. because her insurance will cover it. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
well i found out the surgeons office accidentally told me i was approved. it was in the wrong file! im actually not approved.

omg omg omg.. ok here is the latest.. i've talked to the benefits coordinator at my g/fs job and here is what Aetna told her... "We are instructed to state the surgery is not covered BUT their doctors can certainly submit a pre-determination with all the medical information - clinical, history of tried procedures, current medical problems its causing and the reasons for medical necessity at this time. It can then be reviewed by our medical staff if it will be covered under the terms of their contract." ok so.. what do ya'll think??? i'm definately thinking its worth a try. now i have to pray that they will allow me to be added to her insurance. at this time not all insurance companys allow same sex couples to share insurance!!!! cross ya'lls fingers! please! i would say if i can get added to it.. and i go to a doctor the surgeon recommends that supports lap band.. and he submits a statement stating what i've tried and all my weight history and that my bmi is a 46 and that its medically necessary then it should work what do ya'll think!??! i'm so trying not to get my hopes up.

i so wish i could do self pay i really do. i just can't.. my income barely pays my bills. adding another bill on top of that is just not wise. i can guarantee i wouldnt be able to make the payment ya know. ;(

ok i have a question for you all... since my employer exludes weight loss surgery i'm checking on getting added to my partners insurance. she has Aetna. I was looking online today at the covered benefits and exclusions and limitations and this is what i found under exclusions and limitations... "Surgical operations, procedures, or treatment of obesity, except when specifically approved by HMO." what does this mean?!?!? i'm hoping this is a good thing! crossing my fingers!
-
its neither really. its not a huge company but its not a small company either.

i called member services at UHC originally and they told me it was excluded by my employer. but i went ahead and went to the seminar and had the surgeons office try it. so when she originally said i was approved i was leary but still very excited. so when she then called and said oops i wasn't shocked but still crushed. so now i'm working on gettin on at my g/fs insurance. with the exclusion saying except when specifically approved by HMO i see hope. so i called Aetna member services and was told i have to speak with ACCORD HR which is who handles my g/f's benefits, so i called them. she said "no i dont think its covered" i said well i kinda need to know for sure. i said it states blah blah blah which to me sounds like in certain instances it is covered. she said "well let me check and i'll call you back" why are people so quick to tell you no instead of finding out for sure! isn't that in their job description of CUSTOMER SERVICE! grrrrrrrrrrr

thank you! i have a call into them right now just waiting for them to call back. i have decided i WILL find away to make this happen!

i just cannot finance it. i wont be able to make the payments.. i just can't do it

i recently got divorced and was stuck with all the bills that he and i had together. therefore all of my income and my now g/f's income is going to bills and bills only. there is no extra. the reason my mother is so upset is because they can't help me. my mom was fired, for no reason, from her job in february and has yet to find a new job. i have a very low income family there is no wealth in my family at all. i know there is somone out there that would finance me to get this done however i dont thing that getting a loan that i know i can not afford is wise. ya know?

i talk to HR and she said its exluded in our policy and there is nothing we can do to change it. period. i said THANKS!
-
im actually looking for a new job. i've got apps out there.. when she called and told me it was covered yesterday i prepared myself to stay here. i hate this place but was willing to do it just to get this surgery. but now the hunt is on..but still. say i get a new job... and their insurance doesn't cover. i can't keep changing jobs ya know??
-
thank you. i will keep everyone informed. things aren't looking very positive.
-
thank you. i appreciate it. i just dont get it. why would an employer say hey dont cover anyone that wants weight loss surgery. hello my bmi is a 46!!!! its medically necessary. thats just wrong in my eyes!
