Hello there. I noticed no one has posted since July-ish. I'm LDS and trying to get my insurance to approve banding. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who was LDS who had any insights to share. Thanks

20 somethings!
LavenderBrown replied to Jenna111710's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 27. Got banded 12/21 for two reasons. One, my body won't let me get pregnant at this weight. Two, all the women in my family have struggled with weight their entire lives. I did not want that to be me. I wanted to change. You are not too young! -
December 2010 Bandsters out there?
LavenderBrown replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Eleni! I had it yesterday and it went well. After the sugary I thought "WHAT have I DONE!" but when my supportive husband and beautiful 2 year old daughter came to pick me up I knew it was going to be worth it. I have no doubts today and am ready for this big change. -
Dr. Terry Simpson - Banded by Dr. Simpson

I'm getting banded by Dr. S on Tuesday, December 21st (in two days!!). I live in Surprise, so I don't intend on going to the support groups (I really don't feel like driving an hour each way) but are there any on this side of the Valley? Thanks! -
Good luck to all of those getting banded tomorrow!! I'm getting banded on Tuesday (hope you don't mind the intrusion) and I was wondering...what do you wear to the hospital? It is an outpatient procedure for me. I report at 9:30 AM for a surgery time of 11:30 and I should get picked up between 3 and 5 in the afternoon. Do I need to be aware of anything? Thanks.

December 2010 Bandsters out there?
LavenderBrown replied to GardenGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I haven't been banded yet but I'm scheduled for the 21st. I'm happy/nervous/excited/worried. Thank you all for your support! -
Loved your blog. I got approved and am getting banded on the 21st! I'm excited, but starting to think again. I still feel like this is the right thing to do, but I'm feeling...unsure? not really. Hesitant? no...insecure?sort of.... Maybe I'm just scared about the surgery itself. I'm ready to make a big change.

You bet! I would love to see your blog. My goal this year is to get our 3 month supply of food in order. I haven't been banded yet (hopefully before Christmas!), so I don't know what kinds of food/meals are going to be ok and what ones are going to be problems. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. PS I'm located in Phoenix, are you in Utah?

I love this idea! Things I want to do when I loose weight: Be able to have another child (I have one beautiful girl, but can't right now...probably because of my weight) Go to theme parks and not worry about my size (I am so glad I am not the only one) Pull out some of my old clothes and be able to buy new ones that don't look gargantuan Not be afraid of my second chin in the mirror Mostly, I'm shocked by how big I am when I look in the mirror. I would like to be shocked, but because of how SMALL I am. Not worry about the "chubby house wife" stereotype in my 20s

I am trying to get surgery right now. We move in 3 months (ish) and I don't know what my new ward will be like. Part of my feels like it is my business. Instead of lying, I favor deflection ("you look great, too!"). Probably not any better morally, but I feel better about it. The other part of me figures people at church are really nice anyway (maybe to nice...but thats a different story). If/when people find out they will be nice to me no matter what they think. Thats often the way the mormons work.

A little TOO easy?
LavenderBrown replied to melzie_99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a appointment with my doctor on Nov 30th and if all goes well, I'll have surgery on Dec 21st. I just need to wait the 24-48 hours to make sure insurance approves it. I didn't feel rushed because I'm sure this is what I want to do. I did research on my own for a month a head of time. Sometimes it is just quick (maybe depending on insurance requirements?). I wonder if no one wants to get banded before Christmas? Good luck!
