The BIG secret!!
Dreamingof139 replied to carolann0117's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends. I am a private person, so less than 10 people know. My husband, two close friends, but not a third because she has a BIG mouth. My counselor, my parents (told them after) and my siblings. My boss has no idea - I took two days off work and was just a bit under the weather when I returned. For me, living in a small town, I did not want to have my life out there. I get lots of support from those close to me who know and from this board. We each need to decide what is best for us and our particular situation, but for me keeping my big mouth shut is best. -
I was VERY bloated right after. Keep walking around and keep sipping your fluids - moving will get rid of the gas better than anything else. I was not dizzy at all, but you are very soon after surgery - are you getting your fluids in?

thinking of a lap band
Dreamingof139 replied to lulupretti10's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Lulu - I do not live in your area, but I am sure that many people do and can help you with specifics about which doctors are in your area. I went to Cancun for my surgery and that was the best option for me for many reasons. This site is a great place to dig in and do some research. I hope that you will find the tool that will best help you to be lean, fit and healthy. -
Ah, the voice of experience. Whenever we compare ourselves to others, whether it be in weight loss or anything else, we are bound to find out that we are different, I cannot think of a time that I compared myself and came out even, which means I will either feel superior or I will feel bad, neither is good for me.

Hello and welcome - Toronto is one of my favorite cities - I once stayed in the hotel that is attached to the ball park - very neat. The liquid diet can be tough, but you can and will do it. Your surgery will be behind you before you know it.

Banded a Week Ago in Cancun, Mexico
Dreamingof139 replied to JudyAlline's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Went through them as well - LOVED the surgeon but had some issues with the facilitator. Would do it again with that surgeon, but would bring someone along to facilitate the process for me. -
Does fill liquid evaporate?
Dreamingof139 replied to neenee717's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as I understand, it is a closed system, so evaporation should not be possible. -
HEP!!! Fluid Build-Up or Abscess

What did the doctor say?? -
I also stayed overnight, that is just how my surgeon does it. I could have stayed two nights if I had wanted to - I was self pay. There is a measure of control if you are in the hospital - and I was glad to be there.

Dr. John Pennings - I am not impressed
Dreamingof139 replied to Dreamingof139's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I agree completely and have tried to do that, but am being blocked by the office manager and other staff. I want to find a way to contact him outside of the office, perhaps through the hospital. I do not believe that he would want things to be handled this way and it is my style to let the person that I am upset with know directly. -
A little TOO easy?
Dreamingof139 replied to melzie_99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am wondering why they are in such a rush to get you in. It concerns me that the nutrition was haphazard and that the counselor was so rushed. This is an important decision for you and it is great to be organized, but aren't most of the doctors booked out further than that? Sorry to be negative, but I am concerned about this as are you. -
Why did you all choose the LapBand ?
Dreamingof139 replied to AnEnigma89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in Mexico and would be happy to talk with you about my experience. Please message me if you have any questions that I can help with. I chose the band because I had less than 100 pounds to lose and liked that it was not as major a surgery and can be reversed. -
He was my doctor as well - I have been very pleased with him - are you happy as well?

I'm slowly getting over being stuck tonite - Help
Dreamingof139 replied to gracierose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been there, done that, have that T shirt. Have you tried a little water to see if you can get what may be left to move through? I have also found when that happens that I need to walk around - for some reason that seems to help. If you cannot lie down, you should consider the ER - I am not a doctor, but that does not sound right. -
Chest Pain after surgery
Dreamingof139 replied to Danielle07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My coordinator had told me that when I woke up from surgery I would feel as though someone was sitting on my chest. It was not quite that bad, but it was close. I had quite a bit of gas that seemed to be in my chest, and it really hurt. Try to walk as much as you can, moving around really seemed to help. As others have said, be sure to call your doctor if anything gets worse or changes. Better to call than to not call when you needed to. -
Only day 5 post op --- so hungry
Dreamingof139 replied to Scoobie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please do not worry about asking a question - that is what we are here for, to help each other. The fluids are tough because the band does not stop them, so it is hard to feel full. You should find - I did at least, that once I went to more solid food, I was no longer hungry and my stomach stopped that very annoying loud growl y thing. Are you getting enough Protein - the more you can get, the better. Take Care -
Cold weather exposure?
Dreamingof139 replied to blissa033's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am thinking that you may not want to do that so soon after surgery. I have been very cold since my surgery and you may have the same issue. Could you switch duty with someone for a month or so? Just a thought. -

Psychological Evaluation Tomorrow
Dreamingof139 replied to bluejay26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This will be easier - I promise! They are checking to be sure that you understand the changes that will result from the surgery, that you have a support system in place and that you are mentally strong enough for the process and to follow the aftercare. -
Hello - Just found and joined the forum. I was banded in Cancun Mexico on Sept 24th. I am down a total of 34 pounds, including some weight lost pre op.
