when can I get back to work

Need to consult with your surgeon...... You've come this far, don't want any setbacks ???„
  2. We aren't dieting anymore, lapband is a way of life, of course u can have pizza if ur band can tolerate it. Let's remember it's all that dieting that got us to needing the band in the first place. Here's to not dieting, and being "normal" whatever that might be 

    Shhh..don't tell my PCP!!!

I think it's time to look for a new PCP....... Over the years mine has tried many different ways to help lose weight, and when I brought up the topic of lapband, she referred me to one that was absolutely wonderful.... I don't think I would have known who to choose without her..... Just something to think about 
  4. I thought the hardest part of the process was the checklist of tests that I had to go through before the surgery. As far as liquid diet, mine was 2 weeks, I won't lie, it's wasn't the easiest thing, yet it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Start doing some of the behaviors now, like cutting out bubbles (soda, seltzer etc), concentrate on eating slowly, and what I think helped me the most in the first weeks was understanding that the first 6 weeks is about RECOVERY, not WEIGHTLOSS....... If you lose some during that time it's great, but don't overdo it...... Lastly I will say that through this journey always remember that losing slow, and plateauing as frustrating as it can be is so much better than gaining and the "old way of life"....... Good Luck

    Judgement

I don't know why people are so judgmental...... From day one we have always been told everyone's journey is different, and we all lose at different paces. I would celebrate the 30 pound weight loss, as well as the fact that even though you haven't lost alot more, you haven't gained, without the band would that have been the case..... I think not!! We should be all sharing successes so that everyone wins!!!! Keep working it, you'll get there

Is it all worth it to you??

100% worth it..... I see my doctors every month, go to monthly meetings which have the nutritionist and psychologist (free, part of the doctors team) if I have any questions it's a great forum..... I consider the band a partner, to be successful I need to do be mindful of what I'm eating, do my exercising, and chewing everything so that my band will allow me to be successful. For me, I truly believe it's has saved my life.

    unfill before vacation

I think it defeats the purpose of being banded. You are either all in, or not ready to be a part of this journey..... Really makes no sense, you can be on vacation, enjoy yourself and still eat!!

    regret city....what have i done?

I think that as time goes on for you that you will be thinking the exact opposite. This is still new for you. Everyones journey is different, some lose faster than others, some have problems eating certain foods while others don't have any problems. Take it one day at a time, concentrate on being mindful of what you eat, concentrate on chewing so that u don't get those stuck episodes. Don't be afraid of the band and what bad things might happen, embrace the band as a partner and friend in this weight loss journey and all the great things it can help you accomplish...... Hang in there 

    regret city....what have i done?

Everyones journey is different, I can eat most things without any stuck episodes, the hardest thing for me, even after 6 months of being banded is eating slow. I try my best, but we all know there is nothing like taking a nice big bite of food, and that's where when I'm not thinking about it, I run into the stuck problem

3 Weeks Post OP and STARVING

Unfortunately it's par for the course....... This is really the hardest time, need to eat mindfully, do the best you can until you are able to get a fill or 2 or 3, however many it takes. If you are hungry, eat (according to your doctors instructions first few weeks) the first 6 weeks is about healing, not weight loss.

    avoid caffeine/ and carbonation

I have one cup of coffee a day...... No Bubbles!!!!
  13. Everyones different.... I feel that I news that type of support, I need to be more mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth. Also, my surgeons office has a monthly meeting where the psychologist and nutritionist are there for support and to answer any questions we may have..... You should see if yours does the same

    I am really afraid!

I think everyone was a little nervous...... For me it was the first time I ever had surgery. I think I was more afraid what would happen if I didn't have the surgery, what kind of life I would have, how long I could continue eating myself to death!!!!! It's a quick procedure, not evasive, and quick recovery, it's the best thing I did for myself....... Look forward to this, and a future of healthy living!!!

    OXFORD HEALTHPLAN

I have Oxford, my BMI is over 40, got approved no problems, was banded Sept 9....... They are from what I hear one of the easiest to deal with and they don't require 6 month medically supervised diet. You should call and find out why you were declined, a lot of times the insurance companies don't have all the information they may needvfrom your doctor to get approved..... Call Oxford!!!

    Never Got Onboard

You are doing great!!!!! Even if you feel you aren't "fully onboard" look at all the weight you've lost. How many pounds would you have gained if you weren't banded?? We all have times when we need some extra motivation, that's what this forum is all about!!

    What did you do

This isn't about diets anymore, it's about lifestyle changes, making good choices, and exercising on a regular basis. We haven't gone through all of this to go back to our "old ways"
  18. I was banded on 9/9/10, have lost total of 40 pounds, including 2weeks pre-op diet
  19. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work the following Monday. It took about 10 days to feel back to normal again. The quicker you start walking the better you will feel, remember different people handle pain differently, everyones journey is different from beginning to end.
