That's awesome!!! Keep up the great work
-
I am a mother of three, wife and full time student also I am almost 15 weeks post-op and finally started exercising about a week ago. Luckily my kids are 11-17 so they are pretty self sufficient and that allows me time to exercise. I finally bought a treadmill so I would have no more excuses not to exercise. Three days a week I get up at 5 am to walk 2 miles, and 3 days a week I do it in the evening. Twice when I walked in the morning I also walked in the evening an extra mile. I am ready to tone up some of my starting to sag skin so I am now very motivated. Great job on the weight loss, keep up the great work, and good luck with school

Where are my fellow November 2010 bandsters????
muelle replied to Toohotfortv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded November 29th and am down a little over 50 pounds all post-op. I feel great and finally started exercising Monday of this week. I am excited to be exercising so I can firm up a little bit. I am so happy I had this done and don't regret it a bit. Great job to everyone and keep up the great work -
I couldn't feel mine for awhile after surgery. I was too tender to even try for about 4 weeks I am now 14 1/2 weeks post op and can feel my port easily. Good luck on your journey!

I had my gallbladder out about 5 years ago (pre-band) and your pain does sound like it could be gallbladder. The pain is really intense, I compare it to natural child birth, and comes on suddenly, then leaves with no explanation. I also had terrible heartburn, and sharp pain in between my shoulder blades. I ended up in the ER after suffering these "attacks" going on for 6 months. My blood tests came back normal so they scheduled an ultrasound and found my gallbladder was full of stones, so it came out a couple weeks later. Gallbladder disease, or whatever you call it, runs in my family. My 11 year old daughter is going through the same thing right now Good luck!

You're right!!! Thank you, I don't know why I thought it had NSAIDS

Having some serious second thoughts
muelle replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I got the band, I had no willpower. I don't know exactly why I do now, but here are some of my thoughts on why I now do. I now have no hunger, I am 13 1/2 weeks post-op and still have not regained hunger, which makes it easier to turn down food. I still want the food even though I know I am not hungry, so I have to dig deep in my head and ask myself, "You are not hungry, do you really want to eat this?" Luckily most of the time my answer is "No, I don't want to." It also helps me to know that if I over eat, I can seriously damage my pouch, so that is great incentive for me also Good luck! -
I had seen the same things about NSAIDS on this board, so I asked my surgeon about it Wednesday. He said that they don't want you to take them often. They prefer that you take NSAID free medications because they can cause ulcers in your pouch. No more nyquil for me but I tried theraflu and it works great also

I agree with TKW, you're not on a diet, the band is a whole new lifestyle. I doubt anyone could go the rest of their life without eating their favorite foods once in awhile. My weaknesses were things like corn chips and pasta. Now that I am banded I rarely crave them, but when I do, I have 2 or 3 chips or a couple bites of pasta. The difference post band is that I am satisfied from a very small amount. I think we beat ourselves up enough as it is, so instead of thinking of it as cheating, think of it as a reward

I was banded November 29, 2010 and have lost about 50 pounds in the 13 weeks since being banded. So far some of my NSV are that I can cross my legs at the knee for the first time in awhile. I have knee socks to wear with boots, that I can actually wear up to my knees. I no longer have to fold them halfway down! I have one size of jeans left in my multi sizes closet before I have to buy new clothes. My seat belt fits so much better, and my whole butt fits on the chairs at my school! These are completely silly little things you don't think of not being able to do until you can do them again, and I feel great What are some of the silly things you forgot about until you were able to do them again?

Surgery is Scheduled for March 8th - No Pre-Op Diet?
muelle replied to azbtrfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no pre-op diet either. I had to do clear liquids the day before and nothing 2 hours before admitting. My doctor had me drink a bottle of clear gatorade 2 hours before because they said that the more hydrated you are, you'll have less nausea post-op. My surgery went fine and I had no complications. Good luck to you -
my feelings are hurt from the forum
muelle replied to oceangirl6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope you feel better soon. I am 13 weeks post op and it took about 2 weeks for all of my 'big' pains to go away, and about 6 weeks until I felt human and normal again. I'm sorry for your discomfort, and all I can say is, "Hang in there, it will get better." Good luck on your journey -
Thank you!!!!

My shoes had started to get a little tight and now they are almost loose, so yeah I guess they do a little Thank you and good luck to you!!!!

I get seen once a month. I believe that will continue for six months (as long as everything is still going good), then I think it will be 3 months, then 6 months, then yearly. I only weigh myself once a week, I used to do it daily, but have found I do better just weighing in once a week.

My surgery is tomorrow my ? is....
muelle replied to KatieRichardson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital does a 24 hour hold, so I stayed overnight. Riding in a car was uncomfortable after surgery, so I would recommend that even if you are released the same day, you might want to stay at a hotel close by. Good luck to you!!! -
I feel for you. You have a very hectic schedule! Mine isn't near as crazy as yours, but I am a full time student, wife and mother, so I can understand what you are talking about. Having time to exercise and do everything else is really tough. With college classes comes hours of reading textbooks, so I do my reading while on the treadmill and I also do hand weights while I'm reading. My husband laughed at me at first, but then admitted it was a pretty good idea. Good luck to you in your journey!

I now weigh under 200, which means I've lost over 44 pounds in about 12 weeks. I have decided when I hit 175 and sustain it for a month, I will get a new tattoo that I've been wanting for a long time but didn't want to show my fat back and side to get it
-
I don't use any condiments at all, I don't even use dressing on my salads. They are usually high in sugars so I stay away from them. I do however eat pickles. They are high in sodium so I limit my intake of them, but they are low in calories and curb my salty, crunchy cravings. As far as olives, I stay away from them also, they have fat with no nutritional value.

I've had 2 fills and neither of them hurt one bit. For me it was very quick both times. My doctor's office doesn't use any topical numbing, they just find your port, and give the fill. Good luck with your journey

Why did you get banded?
muelle replied to djmixon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did it because I've always been able to lose weight easily. I'd lose 40 pounds and gain back 50 I also had a compressed disc in my lower back, high blood pressure and couldn't go up the stairs without huffing and puffing. The straw that broke my back was that my husband and I were only intimate about once a month. He said it had nothing to do with my weight, but I can't blame him if it did. He married a size 5 and got a size 22. So far I have lost 46 pounds and my back pain is gone, my high blood pressure is gone, I can go upstairs easily and my husband and I are intimate everyday So I'd say yes, it worked -
purpose of 48 hour liquids/mushies post fill
muelle replied to cduval04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon is not as conservative as some I've seen on this board. He says to eat whatever is comfortable after a fill. I've had two fills, one of 2cc's and a second of 1cc. After my first fill I only had liquids for two days out of fear of eating and wanting to get back on track. With the second fill I ate half a chicken breast for dinner that same night and had no problems. I would stick with your doctors advice, but unless you feel pain or discomfort that doesn't go away, I wouldn't worry about eating too soon. Good luck -
I was having problems with my hair and nails post-op, so on top of all the other vitamins I take I started taking prenatal vitamins also. They have helped immensely. Good luck
