  1. Project Lisa - I am so sorry about your setback. Hang in there! You have lost a TON of weight in the last month or so. YOu can get this worked out and get right back on the program. I am sure of it. I am doing OK. I was banded on May 31st (exactly 6 weeks ago). I have lost 25 lbs so far. I had no real pre-op diet, so I went in at my highest weight. I was hoping to have lost more than this by now, but at least the scale is going in the right direction. I have had one fill - 1 cc. I go for another fill on Friday. My doc allows fills as needed. I am hoping a little more fill will help me lose more quickly. I have also been tracking EVERYTHING i consume. I use fitnesspal app for iphone. I am finding that really helpful. There have definitely been several days that I have eaten too much - not really in one sitting, but we have been to several parties where Snacks have been abundant. So, I have picked my way up to 1800 or 1900 calories. I don't have the picking problem on a regular day - but parties with trays of food out make it so hard not to pick. Has anyone else been faced with these challenges? I feel like we have had so many social activities in the past 2-3 weeks, that I am self-sabotaging a bit. I have also not been consistent about exercise. I am working on it though. Its great to read about everyone's journeys!! Keep the posts coming! peace, nora
  2. Hi - I was banded on may 31, 2011. I have a Realize Band (I don't know if that matters). I started at 320 lbs on the day of surgery (also my high weight). I have lost 20 lbs in the past 3 weeks. I would like to get to around 160. This is the highest weight I could be at and be in the "normal" BMI category. Things are going well- I just started solid foods this weekend . I'm scheduled for my first fill on Weds. I am a professional working mother of 3 small kids (ages 6, 4, and almost 2). My husband is very supportive and is a stay-at-home-day. We live in Asbury Park, NJ. I think it would help me tremendously to have a buddy - especially one who lived nearby, but not necessarily. I have TONS of questions, worries, wonders, etc. Please contact me if you think you'd like to mentor me. Thanks in advance!! peace, nora

    Recovery Question

I was banded on Tuesday, May 31st. I am still on Clear liquids. I have 3 kids - ages 6, 4, and 21 months. I have been lifting my 21 month old since Thursday. I lift him close to my body - not with outstretched arms. He is about 25lbs. My surgeon said this was ok - just not to overdo it. By Thursday, all I had was some minor incision pain. The hardest part with my little guy is that I still nurse him twice a day and he rubs his feet all over my belly - ouch! Anyway, today (friday) I am 3-4 days post-op and I feel totally great. I think everyone is different though. If you have a hiatal hernia repair, it is harder. If you have more incisions (I have 3), it is harder, and of course, some people just heal faster/ slower than others. I think your DH should definitely plan on staying home on Friday and then, if you can, play it by ear for Saturday and Sunday. Good luck. peace, nora
  4. Hi - I am a little past the dates listed, but I was banded on Tuesday May 31st. I went into the OR at 10:19 and was home in bed by 3 pm. I am feeling fine now. The first day was rough. The air/ gas from the laparoscopic surgery was painful until it worked itself out and the nausea from the anesthesia was also bad. By 5 am on wednesday, i was feeling much better and I have had no pain meds since the hospital. My main issue is that I am HUNGRY. I have been on Clear Liquids since Monday (4 days now) and will be on them until next tuesday. I can't wait to have a Protein shake or some fat free cottage cheese!!! I am so hopeful that this will work for me. Right now, I don't even think I have a band in me - of course I know that I do, but I feel like I could eat a burger and fries with no problem. I am determined to follow my drs orders though. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all and supporting each other as we go through this life-changing experience!! peace, nora

    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hi - I was just banded yesterday. Yesterday was pretty tough, but today I feel good. The gas/ air pain is gone, as is the nausea from the anesthesia. I have three incisions - belly button, port, and one other where I guess they had to get in to move my liver out of the way. The only one that hurts is the belly buton, so I feel good about that. I am on clear liquids for a week. So far, not too bad. I am anxious to eat something more substantial than Jello though Looking forward to getting to know all of you and to figuring out how to make my profile here. peace, nora

I am brand new to this site. This is my first post. I am scheduled to be banded in March or April by Dr. Nusbaum in Morristown - although I live in Monmouth county. I am hoping for great results - I need them!
