How much longer do you have?

I finally lost a pound. I've never been so excited to lose a pound. But I am very happy and proud of that little pound. I had to change my appointment with the surgeon due to some conflicts at work. When I asked about reschedule, the woman I talked to was really nasty - even though I told her that my PCP wanted me to get a weight loss target from the surgeon. Because I am so early in the 6 month process, she considered my visit a waste of time. So I'll talk with my PCP when I see him on Monday and we'll go from there.

Congrats iamtheskinny me! I had my screening with the nurse at my surgeon's office. One step closer. It was so awesome. She's been banded for 5 years. However (as you can see from my ticker), I haven't lost a pound. In fact, according to my surgeon's scales - I'm 12 pounds heavier than I was at my PCP visit on Aug 12. Ugh. I meet with the nutritionist and surgeon on Sep. 8...in the meantime, I'm lighting a fire under this 6 month diet thing. High Protein, lots of veg, lots of Water and more movement. I also have to be better about tracking my food. I look at this time as prep for changing my behavior and working on my attitudes towrd food. So maybe this lack of scale movement was a good thing after all!:wink2:

    Hey all NYU Bandsters!

I'm so glad to hear such good things about Dr. Kurian. I went to a seminar in July where she presented and was thoroughly impressed. I have an initial consult with her on Sept. 8. I have to do the 6 month medically supervised diet, so my surgery won't be before Feb. However, I'm working things on a tandem path.
  10. Wsw27 - thanks for that tidbit of information. I'm meeting with Dr. Kurian in a little over a week, but I have no idea if she's the one who accepts my insurance. I'll have to give the office a call and see.

    Fiber & Bowel Movements...

I've been taking a probiotic in capsule form (Phillip's Colon Health) and that's helped a lot to keep things flowing smoothly. Does anyone know if this is something that I can keep taking after I'm banded?

317lbs and waitin' on pins n' needles!

:thumbup:Congratulations! September marks month 2 of my 6 month insurance required supervised diet. I am so looking forward to the day where I am where you are. Any tips on making it through the 6 months?

How much longer do you have?

I had my psych consult and it was even better than expected. I meet with the surgeon on Sept. 8 (month 2 of my 6 month insurance diet). Very happy and excited. I know this is a necessary lesson in patience. That's what I keep reminding myself of so that I don't get frustrated. Besides, I won't wake up the day after surgery and be at my goal weight.

    Question...

laughing cow cheese wedges?:wink2: that's pretty healthy. if and when i've felt like a dipping pretzel -it's either in nutella or jarred queso. maybe eventually you'll be able to eat pretzels after your banded.
