  1. The first 2-3 days are not much fun but I did not think they were horrible. The last 4 days have been good and only a few cravings for me. I was running to the bathroom the first 3 days then things leveled out but today I'm headed toward plug land and started a stool softener. Don't be afraid. Keep yourself busy and pay attention to your body. My biggest help has been fruit infused water. I put fresh fruit and ice and water in a shaker bottle. It tastes good and is refreshing and it helped with cravings:)
  2. When I started my pre op 7 days ago, I was running to the bathroom but now it's almost like complete opposite. I'm on protein shakes and clear liquids. I'm trying to figure out if I need to start my colace ASAP. Pain meds cause severe constipation and I don't need that kind of BS after surgery. Any ideas?
  3. I've read on other forums that some people go through the stages of loss and grief after being sleeved. It said the 5 stages are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I am worried that I may have to go through these stages after my surgery.

    Bowel Confusion

Do protein shakes usually cause constipation?
  5. Today is my 42nd birthday and I want chips and guacamole and fajitas from my favorite Mexican restaraunt. Help!!!! I'm on the 7th day of my pre op clear liquids and protein shakes. Nov 13 surgery
  6. Laura-ven congrats on your sleeve anniversary! I have not run into many who will be sleeved the same day
  7. Thank you! I know I won't do it but I have to make the choice and remember that I'm a "good times" eater. My emotional eating only happens when happy things or events are going on. I guess I must be a very happy person since my weight is what it is
  8. I have had a hysterectomy, gall bladder removed, lap band installed and taken out. All in the past 4 years. I have 20 different scars on my tummy area from incisions, two of which are in my belly button. The longest one is 3 inches and just to the left and above my belly button. I'm getting sleeved on November 13 and my dr was the one that suggested it. So it can be done and I'm sure your surgeon will be extra careful.
  9. I want popcorn NOW!!!! I want extra butter and I want it to be from the movie theater!!! The only thing I've really wanted to cheat with, but I haven't .... Yet....I'm on day 5 of my pre-op and I am doing well but that darn popcorn

    All consuming

I think about my new life and weight loss. I think about how much energy I will have and about my health being better, but most of all I think about is what my children (17 and 19) will think of me. They have never seen me less than 200 lbs.

    Got My Date...but...

This is one of my biggest fears. If this happens to me, you better believe I'm going to have at least one taco from Taco Bell, just to spite the dr.

    January 2014!

The lap band most definitely did NOT work for me. I lost 20 lbs over 2 years and it was because my food got caught in my esophagus because the band was incorrectly placed.
  13. I find I'm craving things like salmon and really protein rich food. Just something that has texture, crunch or even salty rice cakes. I don't crave anything I used to like Mexican food and Chinese. And best of all, I'm not craving diet coke at all.
  14. I don't get a meal:(. Clear liquids and protein shakes for 14 days. Hmmmmmm....
  15. I am addicted to diet coke and scared of giving it up. Help!!
  16. I'm almost 96 hours or 4 full days of no diet coke. If I was eating then I might miss the diet coke, but since all I do is drink liquid shakes and eat jello, I'm not craving diet coke. I have a little hot tea to help with the caffeine withdrawal and a little pink lemonade ice tea mixed in for sweetness and sour.

    Two days down

My pre-op diet start weight was 242.8lbs and my goal is 150. I will for sure share my weight on the day of surgery.
  18. Just had my band out and I pushed for an hour when I finally had to go. My legs and feet got numb from sitting. Talk about interrupting progress to stand and shake out the numbness in my lower extremities
  19. I have had the Lap band for 2 years and the last 9 months were terrible after my last fill. The band was placed incorrectly without a pouch and I constantly had food stuck in my esophagus. 8 bites was a lot for me and usually took over an hour to get down. I'm not afraid of only 8 bites, but I'm thinking I might miss my Taco Bell.

I did tea for the headaches but only for a few days then no caffeine. It has helped a lot along with Tylenol and ibprofen. I've heard some really great things about the folks that are having the surgeries in Mexico. It's very sad that the insurance companies do not recognize that this weight loss could save them so much money in the long run.

Kyrie who is your doc? What state? I can't believe it's actually going to happen. Very excited! I have not weighed myself yet to see if I have lost because my last weight was on the docs fancy scale. Lol

    Two days down

Woohoo!! Three of us now. My pre-op is all clear liquids and protein shakes. I called my doctor after I got too dizzy to even drive. He had me throw in a hard boiled egg or two and baked lean chicken. I'm still just trying to do my best to stick with the liquids but I have to be able to drive on occasion.
