cost of removal - selfpay in georgia
lapbanderNC replied to nosilla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nosilla, you probably should contact the surgeon who place the band and see if he can do a revision on your port, I have heard of some bandsters who only had to fix the port. Why are you having it removed? good luck -
I also crazy spicy foods... I believe it is because since I cannot get much food in then I just have to make it INTENSE.... and that is what we get from spicy food - intensity !

Vitamins?? What do you take??
lapbanderNC replied to NurseWiggins's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am having terrible hairloss also... Maybe that is the vitamins ... I forget to take it and because I actually eat reasonably I thought I would be ok - no anemia. I guess it is time to hurry and really do what the doctor says. I have lost about 1/4 of my hair. My pony tail is so thin.... -
Filled to 4 cc's today - now slimming.... HELP!
lapbanderNC replied to Suzie Q's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Suzie, I am also filled at 4 ccs on my 4 ccs band. The exact same thing is happening to me, I have been throwing up slime - no kidding, probably about half a cup of slime so far. I had my fill 6 days ago and I have not been able to eat meat yet, everything gets stuck. I thought I was going to die last night. Maybe I am overfilled. -
I just had a fill, am I too full
lapbanderNC replied to vintagehound's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Vintagehound, did you fly home from Tijuana? My doctor told me that the liquid in the band might expand and it feel that we have more restriction even for a couple of days after surgery. I hope things work well for you. -
Bathroom Problems
lapbanderNC replied to natedogg7171's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had diarrhea after my surgery but it was because I was drinking a lot of protein drinks and some are loaded with sucralose. Every time I eat or drink too much sugar free food I get either diarrhea or cramps. I would try to watch the sugar free drinks and see if maybe they are making you that miserable. I would also call the surgeon if the problem persists. Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids so that you do not become dehidrated. When you drink liquids only you should probably not have too much of a BM but elimanate the liquid intake through urinating a lot. If you are having diarhrea I belive you either have an infection ( viral or bacterial) or you are sensitive to the sucralose. -
Bad gas behind the breast bone..
lapbanderNC replied to Dina69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Diane, are you sure they are gas pains? could they be pain from the surgery itself? What did your doctor suggest for gas? I have seen people saying they use gas X strips or chewables and walk a lot. I had lots of pain but the gast was mostly on the lower abdomen and shoulder. I hope you feel better soon. -
I had my surgery on 2/7 and my first fill was 2cc on a 4ccs band. I have been losing slowly because I can still eat, I never experienced what people say... 2 or 3 bites and they are full. I eat about 1/2 a cup of food for each meal. I even feel I should eat less than that, because I have lost only 16 lbs so far. ( including pre-op diet)

Hi....Britrish newbie here!!!
lapbanderNC replied to midnightvelvet's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Midnight Velvet and Melanie.... you will really love this website, that is where I find lots of support. Midnight, I had my surgery 2 days before you. Ah... there are people from all over the world on lapbandtalk.com. -
I also had mine glued, as described on one of the posts above, however there were stiches as well, they were clear stiches and internal. The surgeon placed small tapes directly over the incisions and then a bigger white bandage over that. What I removed first was the biggers squares and the little clear tapes stayed there for about 10 days. ( no visible stiches)
-
hi Berry and SweeTHEARrt, I had surgery and about 3 days later I removed the bigger bandages from the top of the incisions. My doctor used small pieces of clear tape under the bigger bandage. What the nurse told me is NOT to pull any bandage that is firmly placed on the skin. She said it could force the stiches. Make sure you keep the area dry after the bandages are removed. I always dried mine with the blow dryer after showering, just to make sure I was safe. If you choose to blow dry yours keep the blow dryer within about 1 foot distrance so that it does not get too hot on the incisions. Call your surgeons to clarify any questions. And hang in there, the first week was very hard for me, but I did it !

I was banded on February 7, 2007. My doctor fixed my hiatal hernia at the same time I was banded. Most importantly, he was honest enough to bill me only for the band and submitted the hernia to the insurance company. At the end I just paid 5.500.00 for the banding. ( I was self-pay for the band)

I would suggest that you contact your surgeon immediately.

The 1st day of the rest of my life
lapbanderNC replied to cindy11670's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Cindy, I had my surgery 4 weeks ago. The first week you need to recover, there is lots of stomach swelling that you really do not want anything else other than liquids. Broth with a little bit of fat free cream of chicken was heaven for me, that is what i craved. I started feeling dizzy and weak around day 3 so my doctor allowed me to have either fat free milk or soy milk ( fat free, sugar free). Do what you doctor tells you, if you start feeling weak call his office and ask you could add this or that, talk to them. You will be fine. Where is your surgery? -
Hello.... After 3 weeks of surgery I am heading back to Dallas for a follow up with the doctor. He did not tell me if I am getting a fill ( probably still too early). I have not lost an ounce this week. I probably need to eat less and exercise more. Audree.... I can't write you messages, it says your mail box is full.

Newbie- Was anyone else deathly afraid of Surgery?
lapbanderNC replied to ShineOn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have had the same fears. I even made an extra life insurance just in case I died. The surgery went extremelly well and I am happy I was brave to do it. If I can do it ( with all my anxieties) anyone can do it. We can die on traffic, everything envolves risks.... Anesthesia drugs are safe nowadays and mortality risks are minimum, especially with laparoscopic procedures. Follow your dreams !!!!!!!! -
So when do I get unhungry?
lapbanderNC replied to AtlantaShooter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am on day 7 post-op and already starting to feel hungry. My stomach growls and I just ignore it if I had proper nutrition. The first 3 days I got very weak and light-headed. I also had the shakes because my blood sugar dropped to 67. I have been drinking 1/3 of a cup of fat free milk or fat free soy milk and that brings my blood sugar back to normal, calms down my stomach until the next meal. I am not able to eat more than 1/3 of food yet. I am not counting my calories but i am probably eating about 600 calories a day. -
It was a success !!! no bad reaction from anesthesia, great staff, surgery went smoothly. I had a hernia repair too.... BUT the pain................. Lord, help me!!!!!!!! I can barely breath, I am on on liquid lortab. my tummy is puffy from the gas, it looks like I am 7 months pregnant. I can feel my stomach, woke up crying " my stomach" !!!!!!!!!! I am scheduled to fly back on saturday... I do not see how I will make it - I will probably have to stay here for a week. Each patient is different, I have heard of people driving on the second day. Maybe this is because of my hernia repair.... I have never experienced so much pain in my life. :omg: Luciana Jellie Bellie

Bandster with Celiac Disease
lapbanderNC replied to Micia il MINIac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also have celiac disease and will be getting my band on Feb 7, 2007. I am borderline celiac, it happens only when I am under stress. I am having a crisis right now.... I wonder why ( 10 days before surgery) -
I am also to be banded. My surgery is scheduled for February 7th is Richardson, TX by Dr. Marsden. I am excited but at the same time scared of the process, specially of possible complications during and after surgery. I am such an eater, my goodness !!! No wonder I gained 70 lbs in the past few years.... I am now 193 lbs and need to loose 70 lbs, I hope Lap Band works for me, my appetite is so intense, maybe I can have the doctor stich up my mouth too... Just kidding... Everything sounds good for me, from Indian to Brazilian food but it is time to shed the extra weight and feel good about myself. Good luck to all of you having the surgery.
