Clear liquid questions
ThatDudesMom replied to DisneyAddict's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on clear fluids right now. I had purchased different types of broth to have on hand when I got home, but ended up hating them. Finally, I made my own chicken broth and beef broth and am loving them...they are getting me through, actually bringing comfort. I have a post on here on how to make them....in the same post someone shared that the broth from Vietnamese Pho Soup is yummy. I have a friend bring me some as I type and can't wait. Also, there are several sf Popsicles and I bought all of them, and at this time, I am eating my favorite ones...which happens to be the Edy's. For some reason Water doesn't feel as too to drink as Crystal Light does. Again, I bought lots of flavors of Crystal Light to try and am drinking what I really like. Hot, cold, warm....they have all agreed with me. Hope this helps! -
That is great! I am so happy for you and can imagine how great you are feeling. Thanks for sharing...I am looking forward to all of that!

Before my surgery I stocked up beef, chicken, and vegetable broth. I was not enjoying them, and kept tasting the processed taste or something. Finally, before I lost my mind, I went and bought things to make my own broths. The results were great. I am a much happier sipper today! And, my son has good meat to eat for his meals, and I have very tender meat in the freezer when it is time to eat it. I cooked a chuck roast and a whole read onion in the crock pot until it was tender, tender, tender. Removed the fat and cut the meat into chunks. Saved some for my son for the next couple of meals and froze the rest. Scopped out the onions and discarded. Put what was left in the refrigerator over night so that he fat would come to the top and set. This morning I removed the hard top, and strained the rest. End up with about 6 cups. Froze four cups in individual snack size zip-lock bags for later. I am drinking cup now and it is amazing! Did the same with a whole chicken, but boiled it in a huge stock pot with two big carrots, the top half of a bunch of celery stocks, a whole bunch of chopped green onions, 1/4 red onion, salt, pepper, and powdered garlic. Yummy!

Congrats! Without knowing, I don't know that I would chance it. I wouldn't want to ruin an important night by getting sick or having long lasting tummy issues....are you totally against drinking a non-alcoholic drink you are used to? Have fun whatever you decide!

This is my first full day home after being sleeved. I think I'm doing great. Got all of my Vitamins in (2 multis, B12, Iron, and Pepcid Complete.) So far I have had 8 oz. of chicken broth, 27 oz. of Water, and three popcyles. Does that sound like I am on the right path? I've been taking a nap every few hours. When I lay down I fall right asleep and feel like I have many dreams. More time than not though, I wake startled from something in my dream. I even talked out loud once when I going to sleep. This is not all the normal for me. Has anyone experiences it? If so, please share.

I am three days post op and take daily: 2 Multi Vitamins 1 B-12 Iron 2 Pepcid AC (Because Pepcid Complete has been recalled (will switch to calcium at two weeks post op)) I have taken Vit. D3 for a couple of years, and at discharge I was told to discontinue. Not sure why, but plan to ask at my first check up.

Great questions....I hope a lot of people share their experience. In college I wore size 10. Somehow I got to an 11, and then after having a child I am a 12. When I lost 50 lbs. a few years ago I could do 11s again. After gaining the weight back, no more 11s. I'm hoping it was not a fluke.

Scale Recommendation
ThatDudesMom replied to lkcraig316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a scale, but it drove me nuts. It was digital, but you had to try several times before you got your weight without it saying err. Kohl's has several different brands on sale. I bought one today and LOVE it! It is a Taylor, digital (but you can stand on it and get your weight, instead of taking it to turn it on and then stepping on it), and it weights in 2 tenth increments. It was originally $60 and was on sale for $29. There were other's that I thought about but finally had to make a choice. Hope this helps! -

Plan A for me to order something with my 9 year old son that we both like. Plan B, when we don't agree on something is to use a card my surgeon gave me. It is the size of a business card and says: Medical Request to food Service Providers This person has had surgery that significantly reduces the physical size of their stomach and is under Doctor's orders to restrict the quantity and type of food consumed. We request that you kindly allow him or her to order a small portion, or to make a selection from your children's or senior's menu. Than you for your cooperation. I hope it works well!

Question about sipping clears the fist week
ThatDudesMom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got sleeved on Thursday. I feel pretty good. When I sip water or any other clear liquid it kind of hurt when it its my stomach. And I'm talking about really small sips. I'm sure this is normal, but how long will that last? -
Complete Multi Formula Crystals
ThatDudesMom posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before i was sleeved my doctor game me a packet of sample Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage. One of the sample is for Complete Multi Formula Crystals. It is packaged like crystal lite, an a long slender envelope. It doesn't have directions on it, and when I looked on line I found this: Delicious Drink Mix means far fewer pills. 3 daily servings give you a complete high-potencyMultiformula with 1500mg of elemental Calcium (citrate) 900 IU Vitamin D3, 900mcg B12, 300mg potassium, 9mg of thiamine - and MUCH more! Refreshing Wild berry flavor is something you will truly enjoy taking every day. Does any know how much Water to use...and would it serve as my multi vitamin, B12, Iron, and calcium, or would it just serve for my multi vitamin. Input welcomed! -
Complete Multi Formula Crystals
ThatDudesMom replied to ThatDudesMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't do calcium until two weeks post-op, until then I am taking Pepcid Complete...well, actually Pepcid Complete was recalled about a year ago, so my doctor told me to take the generic complete or Pepcid AC. I tried the generic and they were yucky chalking big tablets. I bought Pepcid AC last night and they are tiney tablets that you can swallow. I still cut it in half, but took both halves at the same time. For calcium there were lots of little chocolate chews wrapped in silver paper to sample. I tried a few before surgery and really liked them. I will likely use them so that I have a little dessert each day! -
Complete Multi Formula Crystals
ThatDudesMom replied to ThatDudesMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be honest, I have checked the price. I'm first trying to figure out what the heck to do with them? Add Water...how much? If I like it...I don't care how much more it cost if it keeps me from having to east several chalking Vitamins a day. -
My doctor and his staff told that hair loss is something I am going to experience so I have to simply accept it. They said that after so many months your body feels that it is being starved and stops doing some unnecessary things like producing and supporting hair. They said that after your body realized everything is okay, it will start producing and supporting your hair.
